I'm so glad I read this book. I enjoy Jane Austen even though I have a little trouble with the old grammar. The sequence of events kept my attention and everything wrapped up in the end. Well worth my time.

It arrived on time and as expected. The novel itself is a piece of wonderful literature. I love Jane Austen, and having read all of her other work, I actually feel that besides PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, this is my favorite. It's a play on the ever popular Gothic novels of the time period, so it was interesting to see Austen's take on it.

I have read most of Jane Austen's works but Persuasion is my favorite book by the author. I find the story fascinating in part because it accurately portrays real human flaws and strengths.
An excellent novel.

It's a very interesting story, but not in any way comparable with any of aust en,s others. The ending was most disappointing. It seemed as if she herself was bored with it and so ended it abruptly without regard for its incompleteness

This is a story of Jane Fairfax, as seen (or rather not seen) through the eyes of Emma.
Emma is a clueless, snobby, and judgmental person. She presumes herself above other humans and tries to decide their lives, forgetting herself human too; the game turns on the player.
The beginning is engaging until Mr. Elton section comes to an end. After that, Emma is removed from the center of action, and becomes a passive observer on the sidelines, and not a very sharp one at that.
The ending is undeservingly happy. Every smallest thing that could cause anyone vexation is smoothed away by the author's solicitous hand.

I'm so excited to have all of Jane Austen's Novels in one book. I've read through Sense and Sensibility and now I'm onto Pride and Prejudice. The print is a good readable size. I'm really enjoying this collection.

I found it very convenient to have all the novels of Jane Austen in one book. The print isn't so small that you can't see them and the book is sturdy so I don't have to worry about it falling apart from opening it so much. I've reallly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone looking for Miss Austen's complete works. the store Rocks!

I thought the book was very good. It was my first read by this author and I will continue to read her other novels. I did at times get lost in her sometimes long conversations and I would have to back track a little to see who was talking or being talked about. Overall I would recommend this book and enjoyed it very much.

The heroine of Jane Austen's "Mansfield Park", Fanny Price, is often overlooked in comparison to her more attractive or more interesting sisters such as the spirited and headstrong Elizabeth Bennet of "Pride and Prejudice." Still, Fanny Price is worth getting to know, and "Mansfield Park" is worth a read as perhaps Jane Austen's most subtle and complex novel.
One of a growing brood of children in a lower middle class family in Portsmouth, Fanny is placed for raising with her much wealthier Aunt and Uncle Bertram at Mansfield Park in the English countryside. The ten year-old Fanny is painfully shy, physically sickly, and less educated than her Bertram cousins, who mostly ignore or make fun of her. Her Aunt Norris, responsible for the day-to-day raising of her cousins, thrives on tormenting Fanny. Only her cousin Edmund takes an interest in her.
Fanny's Uncle, Sir Thomas Bertram, leaves to tend to his estates in Antigua, just as the wealthy and charming siblings Mary and Henry Crawford arrive from London. Mary and Henry will tempt the Mansfield youth into inappropriate behavior, which only Fanny resists. Sir Thomas will restore order when he returns, but at what cost to the household? Fanny herself will be pressured into marriage, facing exile from Mansfield if she refuses. What choices can Fanny make, and how will she find her way to the one man she cares about?
In Mansfield Park, the reader will find an Austen heroine whose attraction is based on her perseverence in the face of very attractive temptations and seemingly reasonable pressures. It is Austen's genius to insert complex characters into the subtle relationships between four families in the story. The story provides a fascinating venue for social commentary and compelling domestic drama. The witty and enthusiastic but morally flawed Crawfords, for example, seem more attractive than the shy, vulnerable, and withdrawn Fanny or the understated Edmund. "Mansfield Park" is recommended to Jane Austen's fans.

June Austin is one of the great novelists of English literature. she is a master of irony. Her novels generally deal with the necessity of a woman finding a good husband with social status and money.

Great series. If you love her movies, the stories are even better. I read most when I was younger, but was delighted to reaquaint myself. Print is small so be prepared for that. I didnt' have a problem reading it and I am 71 with glasses. Enjoy, Sandi Shields

Emma was a matchmaker. She tried to help her friends.
I really had a hard time getting into this book.
All I know is that she liked Mr. Knightley.
It really took all I had to finish the book. I did. It was ok.
I really thought I would have liked it since I like historical romance but this did nothing for me.
Her style of writing was hard for me to follow.

This was my first Jane Austen read. I enjoyed it and can't wait to read all of Jane Austen's works. I chose this edition because its free. No regrets! Even thought it was a free copy; I have no complaints on its quality. Good stuff :) I recommend this edition. HAPPY READING! :)

A great Jane Austen novel with its keen insight into the minds and actions of its characters. Even better was the fact that, unlike some other classics, the "translation" is very good with very few omissions.

I really liked this book. I liked it enough that this is me third or fourth reading. So, how could I give it only a three star rating? I found some of the descriptions and dialogs stilted. This may have been from Miss Austen 's naivety. The basic plot was well thought out along with appropriate twists and surprises. I'm a sucker for romance. I will probably reread this book in another year or two. I really liked it. It's a good example of a period work of literature.

Planning to practice my French reading a nice, clean book I have enjoyed in my own language. As a language teacher, I have found that reading enjoyable things in the target language is a good learning technique. I used to converse in French, but lack of practice has taken its toll. Still can read it, so this should be a pleasant exercise to use for getting my vocabulary back.

This has to be at least the twentieth time I have read these books. Having had to read Mansfield Park first (most unwillingly) as a school requirement I then took on Pride and Prejudice and was hooked. No matter how often I read them, there's always something new.

Such a wonderful diversion from the fast-paced modern life. I love experiencing a time when people visited face-to-face and corresponded deeply with one another. A nice place and time to visit, but I certainly would not want to live there. At times, I found the books tedious in the misunderstandings and the social expectations, but then, it was most tedious for those who lived it. The books, however, are well done and a welcome addition to my classic Kindle library. I'm sure I will read them again many times.

I ordered this book on my kindle, and as usual the item was on my device in just a few seconds. What to say about the book itself? A classic, most avid readers know and many like. As for me , regardless of how many times I read this story, Jane Austen never fails to transport me back in time and capturing me in her world.

There are two free electronic versions of this book, both dated March 17, 2006. The other version of Sense and Sensibility was clearly a transfer from a free electronic copy -- containing a partially missing introduction, an erroneous index of illustrations (which are not contained in the book), and hard coded page numbers which just waste space on each page which don't make a lot of sense in a Kindle version and just take up space on the screen. Overall, this is a much cleaner transfer.

Maybe it's just my personality or my upbringing, but i enjoy the old style, the archaic language of Jane Austen's stories. It's somehow part of the attraction of the story, like appropriate and accurate period clothing in a movie. It adds to the feel of the story in a subtle way.
The characters in Persuasion, though from a different period and culture, could be your next door neighbors, with their vanity and silliness, their wisdom and insight, their gentleness and wit. They are likable, and you care what happens to them, though the end of the book sort of just trails off, and ends in an awkward sentence that doesn't come close to a satisfying close. Despite that, the story is worth the read, and stays with you in its purity and simplicity.

I can't decide why Mr Darcy is more popular than Mr Knightly. Re-reading Austen has now given me an understanding as to why she was known as the first modern author. I love the characters Mr and Mrs E are just so awful they are wonderful.

It's okay, nothing more.
The writing is still Austen, but the plot is obvious & the main characters aren't interesting or appealing- you don't really identify with any one.
There are some funny or interesting quips, but this isn't enough.

I love Jane Austen. This is not one of her best novels, though.
It's a bit like a rough draft. The story is there, but it's not polished. It's interesting to see how she evolved as an author and learned to edit herself.
Overall, the plot isn't bad. It's just a little awkward, unnecessarily wordy in some places, and intent on extolling the hidden virtues of the main character to the point where she's almost annoyingly good.

Jane Austin has a great talent of setting up characters in situations that the reader would find impossible for happiness between them to exist, but Austin unveils details each chapter making it all the more clear as the plot thickens. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This could be considered boring by anyone who liked action books; however, it is written in Jane Austen's usual form and deals with a time when ladies were considered to be protected by the gentlemen from anything that might be in the least distasteful or less than proper. I found myself wishing it could move at a faster pace, but considering the period of time it was written, overall it was an interesting read.

This was one of those books I had a hard time getting into. It just didn't captivate my interest. I did read it to the end only because I was curious about Emma and how it would end. I remember very little of it and it is a long novel. It took me 5 months to finish it. I usually finish a book in a few days once I get started. Also it was written in an Old English style and some of it I did not understand.
I would only recommend it to someone who likes the Old English writing style.

A slow go but worth it. Hard to read due to outmoded use of words and terms and language from another century. Caused a lot of dictionary searches, some of which were unsuccessful. Good story, look forward to reading more from this classic author.

English literature at it's best. This is a perfect e-reader or kindle version of any kind. Suggest reading this before any visual represenatation. If viewed, suggest the Emma Thompson version. She manages to capture all of the subtle emotional inferences on which eveything depends.

Loved this book, and I loved the modern take while keeping the language of the era. I thought it was done very well. I had read Emma a long time ago and loved it as I have all of Jane Austen's books and didn't want to re-read the same book so i was pleasantly surprised. Alexander McCall Smith has a way with philosophying and i have always enjoyed the way he goes of on tangents. Maybe he can tackle some of Miss Austens other books.
