...because it wasn't. Nothing but a window that won't stay shut and some footsteps and NOTHING else. Not scary or creepy in the least. Very juvenile writing and poor editing. Might be OK for an older child or tween but can't recommend for a serious chill inducing read.

Although the idea behind the story had potential, it reads like it was written by a 7th grader. The vocabulary and typos were hard to get past. If the author learns to properly construct and execute his stories, I may be inclined to read another. Until then, I wouldn't bother...

I read this book before reading the reviews, and I'm glad I did. I personally enjoyed the story very much. It was a nice read, on the shorter side, and I thought the plot was interesting. The characters weren't the most complex cast ever, but they were developed and I certainly wouldn't agree with the statement that is used "4th grade vocabulary".
It deserves 4-stars. It loses one because it is on the shorter side and definitely not a complex mind bender or huge intertwined story, but it is very enjoyable.
