I wasn't quite sure what to expect with Jessica Christ. I should have known it would be a bit "Coming of Age". Mrs Taylor had me laughing and cringing at all the right moments. Abstinence only sex ed with God in the background was fantastic.

This absolutely deserves all 5 stars. It isn't just satire, you really end up caring and rooting for Jessica. I will be reading all of these. I can't be the only one who thinks this would make a great Netflix original TV show, HA!

Just awesome. I couldnt wait to get to the end of the night so I could read more! Will happily purchase the next book, and I hope this author goes viral. The world needs this type of relateable humor.

i just became this authors biggest fan after reading the Jessica Christ series. Being a teenager is hard enough but when Gods your actual dad and Jesus your half brother growing up is even more difficult for this small town teen. I found myself laughing out loud a lot of times!

Thank you, H. Claire Taylor. Your unique style and unusual story hooked me so thoroughly that I finished it in a day. To the few reviewers that labeled it "too fanciful" or "hard to believe", I wonder why you are reading fantasy at all? Suspend your judgments and enjoy this fun, fast-paced and often insightful story!

Who knew that the Second Coming would bring us a somewhat hapless girl who would invite our commiseration and win our praise (no, not praise as an idol, but as an Everygirl with oh-so-human issues)? Loved every word of this first in a series, and am eager to read the next.

I liked this book. The main character is developed in a way that allows the conflicts over her life to be more visible. God's words to Jessica are often amusing, showing a nice sense of humor (although the all-caps style is very reminiscent of Death talking in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series). Jessica's efforts to identify the Devil were always interesting as well.

Interesting idea but not realistic as to the type of family or purpose for bringing a second child of God into the world. And God is not depicted at all the way the bible shows Him to be - all-knowing and purposeful, not a bumbling, sometimes confused God who who doubted some of the decisions he had made, people He chose to do His work, events that turn out differently than He had expected, lustfully bringing his second child into the world. The book did bring out a few thoughts that were insightful, but the only reason I finished it was because I hoped it would have an insightful, meaningful ending. It did not.

I do not know how this book got such high ratings... it is a good premise... but I am about a third of the way through and am still waiting for the book to improve. Very sophomoric writing. No character build, no suspense....an inexperienced/immature writing style.
Please RateThe Beginning (Jessica Christ Book 1)
This is a fun read although if one is quite devout or devoid of humor I would avoid it. I'm anxiously awaiting book 5.
