This book was gripping from the first page to it's last. Gingrich's insight, historical perspective, and story-telling is fascinating. The story never suspended believability as it tied together Washington D.C.'s political world with the fanatical jihadists whose goal it is to destroy the West. Along with a fast-paced story there were explanations as to the motives and subtleties of the terrorists' mindset.

This is Gingrich & Early's second novel in what will most likely become an ongoing series dealing with the adventures of (now) Major Brooke Grant. The writers show the gradual metamorphosis of what might be considered an atypical action hero. Grant is a quick-thinking, courageous young woman who starts as a naive and impetuous young Marine Lieutenant, who also happens to be the niece of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. National and international political intrique and first-hand conflicts with global Islamic terrorists drive her maturation process. This is a rapidly-moving yarn that will keep a reader turning the pages, and waiting for the next Gingrich & Early offering.

I thought that Newt left me not wanting to quit reading, because of the way he intertwined the whole story line. It seemed from the first that the book could be ripped straight from today's headlines for everything seemed so real. I would recommend this book as reading for those that might not think things like those described within the book couldn't ever happen. Get real we are not only experiencing situations like those described by Newt, but much greater than those in the book. This will be a book that both excites one to be much more informed by those that seek too destroy our American values.

I am a huge fan of Newt, but my advice would be for him to stick with historical writings and stay away from fiction as the characters in Treason are difficult to believe, admire or even root for through all of their many exploits. There is so much wasted time developing the evil terrorist characters, while I kept waiting for the diabolical plot to finally unfold, that I almost gave up on the book. Maybe I was expecting another Mitch Rapp to appear. But Newt is no Vince Flynn.

Very good follow-on to the first in the series, "Duplicity," and spoiler alert -- it sets the hook for a third or next book in the series. The storyline is surreal in parallels to daily news, but stands out through the very insightful perspective of Newt Gingrich's Washington veteran experiences. The "however" to this, however, is that the storyline and format is very formulaic to that of Tom Clancy, Oliver North, and others of the genre. Still, it's an excellent story, fairly hard to put down, and very little sense of finality at the end.

From the beginning, I could tell that the book would incorporate Speaker Gingrich’s experience and knowledge of government and his awareness of the Muslims, the Jihadist, and their faith in a gentle weaving. The story has a message about and to the American people concerning current events and problems in the world today. Partly based on Islamic terrorist philosophies and their infiltration into the countries, but not limited to Canada, France, and England, how and why they operate. I might be wrong, but I seemed to grasp trepidation from Speaker Gingrich of where this country could be in a very short few years. I share that apprehension and its anxiety.

I do agree with earlier reviews that it is an excellent read, however the product description does not suggest that there may be a sequel. There is unfinished business at the conclusion of the book so it is not a self-contained fictional story. Had I known that, I might not have bought the book. Who knows how many books he might make with the main villainous character that is still around. Disappointing

Good thriller that becomes hard to believe near the end. The heroine and her partner escape from harm too often. I figured out the mole about when the general did. I guess the bad guy's survival will trigger a third book.

This the first book by Newt Gingrich that I have read. It's not just a heart-stopping piece of fiction, it's an authentic lesson in the real Islam problem in our country, and a look into twentyfirst century politics as well. Since the author has a significant history in the political scene in America, I find this story both entertaining and disturbing. How much is actually fiction, and how much is not? HMMM!

Duplicity begins what could be a series, but you don't need to have read it in order to find treason exciting. Speaker Gingrich knows politics and world events, so you will find the plot credible. Whereas Duplicity's action centered on events in Somalia, most of Treason's events take place in the U.S. Treason concerns terrorism and the efforts of our government to thwart it, so the book is very timely.

Great story, suspense and excitement all the way. I enjoyed "Duplicity" so much that buying "Treason" was a no-brainer. My only complaint was the finish. Without giving the story away, the final chapter should have been longer with more time to develop the conspiracy.

While the inside DC insight provided by Newt was intriguing, the politically correct choice of superficial characters (quotas), the stilted dialog and mediocre plot are in stark contrast to his outstanding "what if" series of his historical novels. He should return there for his subjects and retire from the thriller genre.

We are to believe that muslims and Islam are peaceful yet there is little existing evidence that muslims have done anything to change what the Muslim world has burdened the world with. Obama has loaded our military and intelligence organizations with radical muslims. Trump will have a very difficult time ferreting out these radicals without pic intervening.

Thought I would try this book not knowing what it might hold.. Well it was an excellent read and smacks of what is currently going on in the USA. Even though this is fiction, read between the lines and well, there is some truth to it.. can't wait for the next book.....

This was a pretty good read for most of the book but too obvious at the end in trying to get you to get you to read the next installment. No resolution of one of the big issues. Sorry gents, won't fall for it again

I really enjoyed "Treason" it was well written moved fast and gave good background on most of the characters. It did leave a cliffhanger at the end, which I normally do not like, however, with this one, I am looking forward to the next one.

Enjoyed reading this fictional story. Some Americans are not aware of how close we are to how this story develops. That is because they believe anything and everything that comes out of the mouth of a democrat. Please wake up!

Overall an interesting read primarily due to the contemporary feel of the political story. However, the narrative of the main characters when confronting each other in the near death scenes are cartoonist. Reads like Batman vs. the Joker.

Very obvious that 2 authors were involved.

Sometimes the book read as if a Jr. High kid wrote it.

Interesting story line - kept me reading through the painfully written parts. Are there no decent editors anymore?
