this was a great book. i wasn't sure i would read it due to the subject matter but i couldn't put it down. the writing is excellent. the plot is wonderful, i won't spoil it but wow. the characters are so real. i loved it. it's not a horrible story of confinement and nothing more. i have found another writer where i want to read every book like Joe Hill or King or Wambaugh or Evanovich.

I read Isla Morley's first book "Come Sunday" It was great!
This one is quite a step above the last. It kept me reading well into the night, I didn't want to stop but when I woke myself a couple times when I would drop it I had to stop and continue the next day. I read it in 3 sessions and am currently going back to read again.
I really felt drawn into the books character Blyth. I fell into the trials of her abduction and how she tries to overcome it all.
You wont be disappointed!

To not give away the plot line, I will say this book did what others often failed to do, finishes the entire story. It reminds me of the saying: "Be careful what you ask for, because you just might get it"; then what do you do?

I just finished Morley's new novel, she's done it again! Loved "Come Sunday" (her first novel) and now with "Above" wow, it is a suspenseful and non-stop page turner. If you like thrillers and great story telling...you will definitely enjoy her new book.

This book was so compelling I read it in a day. It sincerely reminds me of my time growing up in Kansas and the fear that we would be invaded any minute (I was very young). People WERE buying underground home kits, and the rockets in the corn fields were common knowledge. It ends much more sci fi than I expected, but I've recommended the book to everyone I know. I'm writing this review on Saturday, March 8. I finished this book almost 2 weeks ago and I still can't get it out of my head. I mean I've read several other books since finishing "Above." But during quiet times I continue to reflect on it. I guess that's a symptom of a really good book.
I was given a copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley, in return for an honest review.

The story is engrossing and one that kept me reading late into the night. I can't remember the last time a story surprised me but this one did. The characters and the story are wonderfully developed. Ms. Morley's beautiful phrasing and creative imagery made me want to go back and read certain paragraphs over and over again.

The descriptions of the places in the book where it all happens are so good you can picture the scene in your mind. And all the while a reader wonders what will happen next and how the situation will be resolved. This story would make a wonderful movie.

My book club loved this book! The many twists and turns generated so much discussion. I definitely recommend Above. It was hard to put down once I read the first few pages. Thank you, Isla Morley. I can't wait to read your next book and recommend it for book club. Come Sunday, your first book, was fabulous as well.

This is a book that you will not want to put down. The characters pull you in right away each in their own way. This is a must read you will be thrilled that you did. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I found out that indeed I had not. Isla Morley is an amazing author.

I heard some amazing reviews about this book. My friend from work just read it and was so in love with it, she "had" to get it for me to make sure I read it as well! :) So I cant wait to cuddle up under a blanket and get started! (will update my review then!)

I was so very excited to read this book because all the reviews were compairing this book to "ROOM" which i LOVED! Sadly this book did not even come close to how good "ROOM" was. I was very disappointed. And I found out after reading this book that i do not like distopian books AT ALL
Blythe Hallowell is a 16 year old girl who was kidnapped by her library school teacher and taken under ground. She was lot aloud to leave and every time she asked when she could go home the library teacher told her about how the world was going to end and he was saving her and one day they will emerage from under ground and start there own population.
Blythe was abused and raped by her capture and ended up having a little baby girl that passes away right after birth. The capture ends up kidnapping a little boy to bring back to blythe since she was so heart broken from loosing her child. I am not going to into details about the boy because i do not want to spoil the story, except to say it does not end well.
She does end up having another baby, a boy this time, who survives and lives with her for a long time named Adam. When Adam is 15 years old blythe makes a daring escape with Adam and try to go "ABOVE" only to realize what the capture has been saying all along actually happend. The world was coming to an end and all these horriable things were happening.
On a misson to find her parents and family she runs into the "locals" who have some sort of deformaity from radation. As Blythe’s dream of going home hangs in the balance, she faces the ultimate choice—between survival and freedom.
The begining of the book is so good it sucks you in and you just can not stop reading. then the book get VERY boring. VERY. It picks up again once they escape, but then i found it boring AGAIN. if your a big fan of distopian then this book is for you.

Isla Morley's new book, Above, is a wonderful book. I read her first book, COME SUNDAY, and enjoyed reading it but "Above" is my favorite. Her writing style is developing quickly and I am looking forward to hearing that she writing another book. Keep them coming.

Above is similar to Room and Still Missing, yet so much different. Very intense. Above is one of those books that you keep telling yourself you'll only read a couple of more pages. But it's like potato chips, you just can't stop! Ms Morley has written a tale that will completely engross you. I highly recommend this one. I was given an early copy for reviewing.

I couldn't stop reading this book, and when I had to, I definitely didn't want to. I loved the character development of Blythe, the main character who we meet at age 16, as well as a few others. There actually aren't too many characters in this book, but all were very well thought out and developed. There were a few surprises in the plot, and one pretty big one, that I really didn't see coming.
Overall, a really good read, and would recommend this book to anyone looking to get caught up in a great story for a few days. Wouldn't mind reading it again!
