I don't think I've cracked up this hard over a book in a while. It pokes fun at everything silly and nonsensical about the fantasy realm video game style. Definitely a worthwhile read if you're looking for some quick laughs throughout the book.

It's a fun book but lacks any real variety in the characters. They're all roughly the same.
The plot could be better described as a few years in the life of a boy raised by dragons and an elf. Not much tension as all the conflicts get resolved pretty quickly.

So rediculous, spining a random story out without a clue where it's going. But it really feels it doesn't need to go anywhere. But it does. Rediculous how things threats are thwarted and how the characters progress. It's a truly fun read.

This book honestly had me laughing to the point of tears several times. I truly appreciate that it is a story that doesn't take itself to seriously and it just is. Thank you for one of the most enjoyable reads I've had in quite some time. If anyone disagrees well.... I'm an ostrich!

Bought it based on the amount of four and five star reviews. I got about 70% of the way through the book before stopping. Mediocre writing at best a plot that was barely coherent. Attempts at humor with borderline random characters and reactions.

I thought this was going to be a funny adventure tale from the kindle sample.....but it's not really that funny, it's stupid instead and WAY too long. I finally just gave up about 40% of the way through the book. And it's NOT worth $5.99 that I paid....it really should just be in the kindle library. But, in looking back over the book information, I realize I am NOT the target audience at all, so no wonder I thought it was drivel. But, if you're between 12-18 you probably will like it better. The rest of us need spend our $$ on something else.

One of the best books I've read in a long time hilarious and doesn't take itself serious but still you can feel the anticipation of the next scene. The animals defecate themselves to seem less interesting and I I am an ostrich has got to be the funniest lines I've read in a long time

This book has been a great read for, what with singing skeletons, babies who become indestructible and a mating of a Phoenix and forest lord boar. I couldn't put it down, and it made me laugh aloud. I can't wait to see what the author will write next.

In my opinion this book was amazing, from beginning to end I couldn't stop laughing. It does have it's serious moments though. So if you need some cheering up or just want a good read it's defiantly worth it.

This book is definitely a keeper. Love all the characters and the mishaps that surrounds them. I think my absolute favorites in this book are definitely the skeletons. Fast paced and nonstop with humorous misadventures. I hope there are more books in the future.

It's been a while since I've picked up something that was quite so pleasant! The characters were lovable, the story unusual, and the humor a perfect complement to a book that I would definitely recommended.

i read this book first on royal road and liked it so i decided to buy the book to support the author. This story is about an op character who is somewhat clueless to social norms which causes a lot of frustration for those arround him.

Great story and characters. The story could've been stretched out a bit as it seemed a little rushed, but everything that happened had me laughing, gasping, and having an overall great time reading this story!

hilarious and very unique.... it has d&d feeling but without all the tedious webs of character interactions getting in the way.... dozens of likable characters and hilarious inserts offset the few errors

Was looking for something good to read while I wait for my favorite authors to publish the next book in their series (horrible it takes them months to write what gets r Rees as in a single sitting), most of the reviews were good at I picked this up. Usually don't like authors who use single names, or made up names... But I think I found another author to follow.
Get this book. It's a great fantasy comedy and you will laugh at some point.

This book isn't what the description implies... If you want to read an 11 year olds World of Warcraft inspired tale of magic and sorcery that includes leveling up, raiding, and a lot of poop humor this is the book for you. I wasted 5.99 on this.... there are so many other books I could have read for that.

This book is silly. That's not always a problem in a book, but this one seems unaware of its absurdity. The characters go through no development. Events are huge potholes in a poorly maintained road which leads nowhere. It seems like the author has no idea what normal human emotions are either. There is so much to dislike about this novel. It's one of the worst books ever written across any genre

The Blue Mage Raised by Dragons is probably one of the best books I've read this year. So . . . how does the author justify this high praise? He takes a totally ridiculous premise of a baby-switch at birth and spun a deliciously humorous fantasy tale that has it all: action, intrigue, coming-of-age and even romance. The characters are all quirky and seeing them interact with one another in unlikely situations will tickle your funny bone. The writing itself is spelling error free (I didn't notice a single misspelling!) and extremely polished; it is simply a well-edited and professional looking book.
That being said, I do need to raise a number of concerns. First, the description is abhorrent. A 2-sentence description doesn't say anything about the story. Per my usual custom, I downloaded the sample and, based on that, made the decision to buy the book. The majority of the store kindle ebook readers don't do that and therefore, it behooves the author to put as much description as possible, without posting spoilers.
Secondly, there was a part in the story where there was singing by a certain army, and actual song lyrics were posted. However, it began with "Hi ho, hi ho," and that is a major concern to me because this beginning invited the reader to recall the "Heigh-Ho" song sung by the Dwarves in Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Phonetically, hi ho and heigh ho sound alike. My fear is that a corporate lawyer from Disney will see this, consider the lyrics copyright infringement of their song and ask the store to pull this book from publication. (the store's not going to dispute the request because the store, as a retailer, has strong interest in maintaining a good commercial relationship with Disney.) Even if the author considers this fear overblown, why take the chance of having the store pull this book off their shelf? The simplest resolution is change the beginning of the lyrics. For example,"Ahoy! Ahoy!" will work just as well.
And lastly, the book cover is missing the author's pen name.
These considerations aside, The Blue Mage Raised by Dragons is a convention defying book that is suitable to fantasy readers young and old alike.

I got pulled in by the 5 star reviews....Waste of time and money. I got maybe 25% through and just couldn't take it anymore. One reviewer said he had to stop reading because he was laughing so hard. Maybe that comes later....This isn't really a book to me. It's almost more of a formula story that is supposed to be made hilarious b/c the characters are sarcastic/snarky and some double entendres here and there. If you looking for world building/character development/more in-depth writing....then keep on movin'.

Truly an uninspired and quite bad book. Imagine everything in RPG terms. For no reason. And a character who makes One Punch Man balanced.
Except he has none of the compelling features of one punch man. Every interesting character is just Jewerlery for this magical Mary Sue who at all times has everything go for him. Always. It's jut super not fun to read if you like worlds with deapth and imagination. Every cool concept is made uninteresting with in 25 pages. Every time.
I read the entire book. I don't regret it I just now remember what separates this indi author from BloodSong by Anthony Ryan, Jonathan Renshaws amazing intro into his world, schooled in magic, Starship Mage ect ect.

Yet another story of a magically overpowered toddler and amoral friends/family bullying and humiliating everyone they meet while laying waste to everything everywhere they go. Might makes right and if you don't like it then it's your fault for being weak in this 'world'.

First half was excellent, full of bonkers adventures and memorable interactions between the cast. Second half went downhill really fast, completely sucking out the joyous tone of the first half while replacing interactions with walls of exposition. The differences in tone, writing, setting, and narrative were so distinct that it felt as if I were reading two different books from two different authors. Too bad, as the writing in the first half was so strong I found myself frequently chuckling and unable to put down the book.

This is an entertaining story and I enjoyed reading it. There were a couple of times I chuckled out loud; so good job on the humor, author! This is definitely worth the purchase price.
The only reason I deducted a star is I ran into one of my pet peeves within the first couple of paragraphs : the use of modern slang by a non-human in a different world. Some dragons are talking about another dragon and call him "whipped". If the author modified it to fit the setting, I would have been happier (e.g. "tail whipped"). There were a couple of other instances of something similar in the book but as I said, they're my personal pet peeves, so I think most people wouldn't care.

Turns out you can judge a book by its cover, or at least by its incredibly unoriginal title. Worst title ever, and immature writing style, inept characterizations and I dont know what the other reviewers were reading but i havent laughed once. It is not clever; it is juvenile.

It was difficult to commit to a story that is 9000 sections long when the main character s didn't act even close to their age nor did they seem to ever lose. They lacked charm and personality and much of what happened was immature and gross. It just lacked depth.

The blue mage is one of best books I have read. The playful and sometimes obtuse personality of the main character is great. I laughed hard many times throughout the book. I especially liked the part with the skeleton army invasion and how they annoyed the coalition with song until they acquiesced. It was a worthwhile read and look forward to more.

This first book in anew series has great characters leant you of action. Tine characters are well thought out and clearly are detailed. The love story ingrained in tine story is entertaining and includes the two as best friends. Well done.

I was hoping for an interesting new fantasy novel based on the reviews. I got about 30 pages in, and had to stop after too many multiple cringes at the pre-teen writing. This is not a book for the serious reader, but I AM anticipating my 10 year old to enjoy it immensely, as it seems to be written with her demographics in mind.

The title is rotten, but the book was actually very good. It is sort of like you were invited into a really odd families story. All the characters are pretty interesting. The humor was at times subtle and at time belly busting. The author has a very easy going, engaging style. One of those folks who could write pretty much anything and it would be enjoyable.

I have read thousands of fantasy books in the past year alone I have 600 on my kindle alone and a personal library. This book makes it in my top 5 if not number 1 of all the books I`'ve read in my life which is likely in the hundred thousands. I laughed so hard I was crying and cried so hard I laughed I went through every range of emotion possible in this book. I can honestly say I've never been happier reading a book in my life than when I read this. I cannot wait for the sequel and if it's even half as good as this one it will still make my top 10.

When a story starts off with the human king stealing a dragon's egg and the dragon then steals a human boy you know this is gonna be interesting. I laughed a lot while reading this book. Kinda wish the MC wasn't so overpowered, but that's what led to so many funny situations. Grimmy was an outstanding character in this story.

Definitely not the type of writing I enjoy as a book. I found it hard to concentrate on the story when I started to see the author was adopting a very web novel style of writing, complete with JRPG tropes. I'm sure that this book has it's audience, but I'm certainly not in it.

Overall I liked this book. It appears to be stand-alone, which can be a plus in this day and age of constant series. It was very lighthearted and while it didn't feel quite up to the polished level of some more traditional published works, it surpasses many of the other self-published works with regards to editing that is so often lacking which can really be a turn off. As numerous others have stated it was funny. It wasn't necessarily stand-up comedy funny, but more poke lighthearted fun at the genre type of funny without taking itself too seriously. Reminded me a little of reading the spellsinger series years ago. I felt a tiny bit like I wish I knew a little more about what was happening in the world a touch more holistically than I was ever really given. There's very little in the way of explanation of how things work in this sword/sorcery world. I also think I liked the first half of the book a touch more than the second half of the book. The second half wasn't bad, but it just wasn't quite as delightful as the first half. That being said, I do recommend this to others. I think it is worth a read. Good entertainment.

I highly recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humor.
While the title points out the premise, you'll soon find yourself racked back and forth with the twists and turns taken by the various characters and their questionable aims and antics.
The only drawback I can think of (and I'm knit-picking at this point) is that the reader may enjoy the work more if they are familiar with the fantasy genre. While most things can be inferred, the Blue Mage category is uncommon enough that people may not understand the premise until farther into the story.
Without giving too much away, I think it's fair to inform the uninformed that in the fantasy genre, Blue Mages are those who learn their magic from copying monsters.
Not too spoilery, right?
WARNING: Spontaneous laughter and giggling may cause family members to look at you strangely.

The characters are unique and interesting. Which is fun to read because you become invested in their growth. The writing is just enough humor to make you smile, but not to the point where it dominates the story. It is well written and well thought out.
My only issue is that the story is part of the litrpg genre when it could have accomplished the same thing in a traditional fantasy genre. The litrpg genre is where the characters live inside a game with levels and skills. It feels like the author took an easy way out of creating a magic system and magical world. Still this doesn't take away from the story and offers some him or of its own.
I would recommend this book to friends that enjoy this type of fantasy. So if you are reading this and are curious from the cover or had the store recommend the book, I think you would like this book.

I really wanted to like it, the authors switches around between characters without fully explaining, uses too much jrpg for my taste as well, makes assumption s about the readers level of knowledge about fantasy rpg stuff. Has a great deal of promise, I would recommend a rework with an editor.

Other than the… questionable title, this book was one of the best reads I've read in a while, and for someone who reads 300+ books a year, thats saying something. This book is extremely down to earth, managing both humor and thoughtfulness. It uses litrpg like magic systems, and extreme realism in both actions, mistakes, and emotion, taking you through a journey with a young boy raised by dragons with little control and the power of a god, and a simplistic mide set, and strangely compassionate monsters. 12/10, would and will read again.
