Kindle Unlimited although actually won paperback version through goodreads giveaway {not realizing it was for paperback versus kindle, and am legally blind so....} for Holy Bible - Best God Damned Version - Genesis: For atheists, agnostics, and fans of religious stupidity, then noticed on ku there was Holy Bible - Best God Damned Version - The Books of Moses: For atheists, agnostics, and fans of religious stupidity, and also yet to be released one on the New Testament.

Not much to comment on about this book versus the first one read, except that according to a couple of programs I sawy, if the area flooded was in the Egyptian delta area it would have seemed as if the whole world was, and it went on to talk about the wandering in the desert would be possible if they left a certain way from Egypt and then went down to that delta area and then turned a certain way which would have taken them to the desert area, though why they wouldn't have turned back after a couple of days, eh, not sure that was covered.

Downgraded for inappropriate (foul) language. Steve, Steve, Steve. Your insights are great; pointed me to some things I hadn't previously considered. Wonderful sense of humor. But... do yourself and the reader a favor, and clean up the language in the next edition. Completely unnecessary, and quite offensive. In fact, almost as offensive as the Bible stories it recounts. Almost. Otherwise, a good read... unlike the Bible itself, sad to say.

Reading this series is so much fun. Genesis was great but rounding out the Pentateuch is even more delightful. The harsh, crude tone of the BGDV bible really shines in the character of Moses' friendly Yahweh and highlighting how comically carelessly Moses and Aaron bumble around in their strange adventures. If you hold these stories to be sacred and more or less true you'll probably be too offended to make it through the first few pages; but if you're a non-believer or even a non-literalist with a high tolerance for foul language this is actually a great way to brush up on not only the content of the first 5 books of the Old Testament but also some of the history. You'll also learn so much more about sacrificing unblemished firstborn animals than any non psychopath ever wanted to know.

Excellent at pointing out the absurdities and contradictions in these books of the bible. Also great at highlighting just how violent the Hebrew god was. If he wasn't attacking and often killing Israelites for making procedural mistakes, he was busy sending out his people to commit genocide (and sometimes killing his own people for not committing genocide the way he wanted it done). As the author points out many times - it's a good thing the bible is really just a cartoon written to make a relatively small tribe of people feel important and special (and to make sure the priests lived well).

Had no idea the poor Bible was so messed-up.
As a child was only exposed to selective tiny segments.
Took years for skepticism to take hold.
With this translation, human fabrication of the Bible becomes all too obvious.
Was particularity disturbed of Numbers chapter 31.
Thought Ebling was taking liberties to add outrageous humor to his work.
A quick comparison, showed Ebling dead on.

Language of this translation is rough but it is written with a rich humor.
High School: not recommended
Young adults: highly recommended

I've wanted to write something like this for some time. Now I'm glad I didn't.
I couldn't match it. This version of the Bible is so wickedly funny, I couldn't stop laughing, especially in the Book of Moses. I mean, laughing until tears came to my eyes.
Having once attempted something like this, I realize what a daunting task it is.
Kudos to the authors. You've done a great job in pointing out the absurdity contained in a collection of short stories, a document that's been plaguing and ruling most of the western world for centuries. I can only wish you'd set your talents to the remainder of the books in the Old Testament. I can only imagine what you'd do with the Book of Job.
I'll be looking forward to your rendition of the New Testament. It should be a howl.

Anyone that has ever read the first 5 books of the Bible is familiar with the inconsistencies and contradictions. The Holy Bible - Best God Damned Version points them out in a very humorous way. Agnostics, atheists, or anyone that isn't a diehard abrahamic religion follower will find this an enjoyable and informative read. Those that believe the Bible to be the word of god will find it offensive and should skip it.

For the first couple of chapters I expected Yahweh to strike me dead as he had so many millions who doubted or laughed at his existence. That didn't happen and I began to relax into the unbelievable journey, told in a way I could FINALLY accept. Good job, Mr. EBLING!

Mr. Ebling does a fantastic job of presenting the ludicrousness of the Bible stories. Because I went to Catholic grade school, there was nothing that was not familiar to me, and yes, I did laugh out loud many times. I highly recommend this thoroughly enjoyable read. I especially liked how the author will speak directly to the reader. Makes it seem like he is right there with you. Awesome accomplishment and looking forward to more from Steve Ebling.

This is one of the best books I've ever read. Sometimes you get so focused on the trees that you fail to see the forest as a whole. This book does just that. The bible has got to be the most batchit crazy book ever thrown together. Even without this author's amazing wit, the book is inherently comedic!

Hilarious work, better than the real thing. Some of the funniest things about it are the seething, growling, spitting responses of people leaving bad reviews who likely never read it to start with. We have to move on to the future, and laughing at ancient myths help us see that we're still here and not cursed with boils, frogs and other 'plagues' from some hateful god.

Outstanding! One of the best books I've ever read. There are a couple points he makes that may be taken out of context but he stays true to the Old Testament. I laughed the whole way through this thing and can't remember the last time my attention span was able to sit through 400+ pages.

Steve uses sarcasm, criticism, and satire in biblical proportion to bring the absurdities of the bible to the forefront. Even if you have read the bible and know the silliness packed into every chapter and verse, Steve will make you shake your head, nod in agreement, and laugh yourself silly. Amongst the might academic tomes of religious criticism, Holy Bible - Best God Damned Version does the job with unparalleled insight. Even some common stories that you just accepted without thinking are skewered and make you think, "Why the hell didn't I see that?" I can't wait for more from Steve Ebling!

Absolutely hilarious! I couldn't drink anything while I read it for fear I'd be spewing stuff out my nose! Really made me stop & think about how ridiculous, violent, and cruel (especially towards women & children) the Old Testament is.
A great & entertaining read!

It had some funny parts, some great unexpected one-liners in places, but was a bit overdone in many other places. A good quick read for the confirmed agnostic, radical atheist, or "reformed" Christian.

Steve Ebling is my new favorite comedian. I'm almost tempted to say thank god i'm an atheist. Steve is the only author I know who
admits that there are parts of the bible that just do not make sense. I thought I was alone in this.
Cant wait til he gets to the new testament.
If you want to see what a great writer can do with bad material, read this.

There is nothing new here. Steve Ebling's writing is the same tired, old, ignorant, unimaginative dribble that atheists, doubters, and skeptics have been attempting to level at the Bible for decades; the same nonsense that has been refuted time and time again and that archeology, history, and science have verified and backed up repeatedly. The Bible is the only book to hang its credibility on its ability to write history in advance--without any error! There are no flaws or contradictions in the Bible--only "apparent contradictions" to the ignorant and unlearned. These so-called "contradictions" quickly disappear when one engages honestly in in-depth studies thereof. But one has to man up first and have some level of integrity and honesty about them before engaging in such studies, as well as a willingness to admit they were wrong and submit to the truth they will encounter. However, most individuals are content in their ignorance and would rather continue to deceive themselves with their half-wit arguments than to know the truth. If ignorance truly is bliss, these individuals are living in paradise.

The Bible is an intelligent man's book. When doubting Thomas saw the risen Lord, Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." Those who do not know any of the evidences that verify and support the veracity of the Bible are more blessed than intellectual individuals like myself who know all the evidences and believe, defending the faith on a daily basis. However, I did not believe simply because of the evidences; the evidences have merely strengthened my faith. They have made my faith more tangible. It is rather difficult for people with low IQs to accuse people with higher IQs than they have (such as myself) with being merely ignorant or unlearned or using the Bible as a crutch. Theologians and scholars are not individuals of blind faith; they are highly intellectual, having researched and studied for years. Atheists, skeptics and doubters like to accuse them of being ignorant, unlearned, or using the Bible as a crutch because it makes them feel comfortable and superior in their own ignorance and unlearnedness.

Steve Ebling's book is a book for the simple minded, those who lack the intelligence to grasp the logic, reality, and truth of the Bible; those who deliberately fail to acknowledge the archeological, historical, and scientific evidences that have repeatedly vindicated the Bible for decades. Skeptics used to claim there were no such people as the Midianites, until archeology uncovered their civilization. Catholicism used to teach a flat Earth, but the Bible taught a spherical Earth long before science ever figured it out. In fact, if you examine some of the things that science and medicine used to teach and believe, you ought to abandon both because of their inadequacies and fallibility, and realize and understand that neither science nor medicine is absolute. Medicine is ever-changing, which is why it is called "practicing" medicine. What they "knew" back then we know today was wrong, and what they think they "know" today will be found to be wrong in the future. True science, however, is what you can hypothesize, test, and observe. If you cannot do that, then it is not science--it is pure imagination (such as Evolution). Furthermore, there are hundreds of things science does not know and cannot explain. Anyone who worships science as the be-all and end-all of truth is ignorant to its reality. Those with small minds will find Ebling's book to be entertaining and filled with "insight" and "truth," but it is merely one blind man leading other blind men off the edge of a canyon through deliberate and collective ignorance. When one does not want to know the truth, one will go to any length to deceive one's self and convince one's self that the truth is untrue and that only fools follow it. However, there's something to be said for intellectuals who were once strong Atheists and set out with integrity and honesty to attempt to prove the Bible false and Christians deluded, only to be converted through their own research and become Christians themselves who defend the faith. God sure does work in mysterious ways. Gotta love it!

SO i got this version of Kindle for FREE and not sure what the "Goddamed" version was about and i read it with an open mind. I soon realize right away that the author need a lot of praying. I am detecting nothing but vulgar and blasphemy, this is the work of the devil. The ONLY reason the Bible doesn't make sense to you is because you're not spiritual minded and you don't understand creation and how the meaning of life work. You don't understand how soul, spirit and consciousness work at a deeper level. I give you some examples of his quotes:

"The difference between God, capital G and gods, small g, is the difference between monotheism and polytheism. It's fun to watch the apologists dance around this inconvenient fact. Their best explanation is that, 'God is so great that he cannot be expressed as a singularity.' Do you like that one? It's like saying that Abraham Lincoln was so great that Abraham Lincolns gave the Gettysburg Address."

Understand this, NO MAN CAN SEE GOD in their flesh physically, nobody knows because nobody had seen it. Why? Because living in 3rd dimensional world, you can't see or even understand how the 4th dimension look like let alone there are multiple dimensions out there. That is why the author couldn't explain how multiple GODS exist in one and he can only explain it using Abraham Lincoln as an example. What he failed to understand is that the physical being living in a 3d world can only detect singularity in a being. If it were not so, let me ask you this. Do you believe that you are not just a physical being? That you have a mind and a soul within the physical body? If you are, then you're 3 in 1, are you not? If you are, then why do you call yourself 1 and not 3? Why do you perceive yourself as just a singularity? Just because you can't see the other 2, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And if they all exist as ONE in which they are....how do you call the 3 in 1? Human doesn't have a single term for 3 in 1, it has to be plural. And if it's plural, how can it be singular? That's the part the author don't get. It is better to call Gods as human to "humanity" than just God because obvious some people like the author doesn't get it.

"God created animals, including us, he made it so we have to kill and eat each other to survive! How sick is that?"

Now, here the author failed to understand the difference between the human nature and spiritual nature. Human nature is what make human sick!! Remember, the Prince of this World is Satan! If you feel killing animals and eating them is sick and you indulge in them, and you're doing this to yourself, it has nothing to do with God! Since you had separated, you are your own thoughts and creations, everything is created by YOU!! You only slightly attached through God in spirit which you failed to get in touch with (as demonstrated by this Author's thoughts) because you had lost your way in the physical world. This is what man failed to understand. This is why God (being Adams) eat the apple so that man become aware and wake up and perhaps know where they come from...but unfortunately the author is not such a man. And those that read this book is leading in the wrong path. I am through.

First of all, I have no particular bone to pick with those who choose the non GOD stance, That's their prerogative. But why get so heated toward those believe?
Are you some how threatened but them? Damn, what if they're right!
