What I Liked:
The last sentence was absolutely killer! It seriously makes me want to read the next book RIGHT now! I just need to read a few more books before I pick up this one, but I can’t wait to see what happens. Seriously. Great last sentence!
Nick deals with real issues like bullying and suicide and shows the reader just how great of a person he can really be (in my opinion). He’s such a great character!
Characters from the previous books are in this one and developed even more, it’s great to see their relationships change and form to be what they

What I Didn't Like:
Nick wasn’t as sarcastic T.T! I love his sarcasm.
This book was a lot darker than the other two, which I guess makes sense since it is called Infamous!

OVERALL:
I liked the first two books more than I liked Infamous, still I felt like the series has so much potential (and so far it lives up to that potential). Like I keep saying I can’t wait to see what the series brings and how it’s all going to come to an end. I love Nick’s sarcasm and humor and I think The Chronicles of Nick would be great for middle school kids. Now I just need to convince my brother to read this book…as well as a few other great books…One day, I swear he’ll read it, one day…

I really like how the books start of literally when the previous ended. Like Nick is in the middle of a conversation, when it's cut off and then you have to wait 'till the next book. They are not major cliff hangers, but they usually involve some big revelation about Nick.

Now hearing you're the reason everyone on the planet is going to die, is not really that good for ones self-esteem. It makes you doubt pretty much your entire life, doubting if every decision you make is the one that's going to send you over the edge towards evil. Yeah, Nick isn't ready to share that bit of information with the world. Luckily he has the support from his friend Caleb and his almost girlfriend Kody.

While all the evil demons in the world, including Nick's dad, are still on the path of destroying him, Nick has other problems on his mind. Like getting his driver licence, convincing his mom he is old enough to date and stop the students from his school from killing each other.

After some nasty pictures about one of Nick's friends are spread around and shortly after that an entire website comes into existence with gossip and the most horrible and humiliating facts about everyone, Nick takes it upon himself to find out who is behind it. He feels it's not just some student's doing, but a greater evil is behind it. So Nick doesn't just have to worry about the paranormal being after him, now some of his fellow students are after him as well.

Meanwhile his powers keep on growing and getting more often out of control, it gets harder for him to focus on anything. As usual Nick goes from one problem to the other and honestly it's not his fault trouble keeps following him wherever he goes, too bad his mom doesn't see it that way. That boy has been grounded so often, you'd think he should start listening to her and stay home.

These stories flow so well into each other it gets hard to see where one book ends and the next one begins. They are still totally awesome and I really like how they become darker and darker. There is still the sarcasm and humour, but it often gets more sinister. Like with her other books you start thinking, how much more does he have to go through before the guy can catch a break. Some of her other books really left me heartbroken and with Nick it hasn't quite come to that, but I'm starting to get really afraid of what is to come next.

For most kids life is relativity simple, go to school, get good grade and stay out of trouble. For Nick Gautier he wishes life was that simple. For Nick has a destiny that he doesn't completely understand with powers he can't completely control. Right now his main concern is staying alive when everyone including his own father is out to kill him.

He has learned to raise the dead and annihilate zombies. He has also learned clairvoyance and divination. Those things have proven easier than learning to drive and keep his girlfriend. Though the most important skill he still needs to learn and master is survival.

Now in order to survive his next lesson makes the others pale in comparison. He will prove to either be the greatest hero mankind has ever had or the one person that will end up ending the world. With his enemies gathering forces he is going to have to use every part of himself to makes sure he doesn't lose everyone he loves, including himself.

This is the next book in a series that is proving to be a lot of fun to read and provides a lot of action and adventure. The characters are making this a great series that is sure to please readers. While the books seem to be lengthy when reading they prove to be a remarkable fast read. This one proves to be as hard to put down as the first books in this series. Watching Nick grow up and learn about his powers makes for a fascinating read and will have readers laughing at his antics as he learns each new skill necessary to survive all the enemies coming for him. This one will have reader eagerly reaching for the next book in the series just to see what will happen to Nick next.

This book deals with some very deep issues. Bullying and suicide to name a couple. More enemies are coming out of the woodwork after Nick. Now 15 years old he should only be worried about dating and learning to drive, but he is instead trying to fight those out to use his powers. They want those dark powers and the only way to control them is to turn Nick evil and control him. This is another great read and I can’t wait to find out how things will turn out.

"Infamous" by Sherrilyn Kenyon is part of the `Chronicles of Nick' series that explores Nick Gautier's teen years. It's tough growing up when the heritage conferred upon you by your absentee father could be responsible for ending the world as you know it. It's even worse when your mom constantly hassles you because of all of the fights you are in and you seem to be constantly grounded or in detention. What's even stranger is that you are tutored by Grim (as in Reaper), have discussions with an older version of yourself, are guarded by a daeva demon named Caleb, are employed by a Dark-Hunter who is only active at night and have a hot but secretive girlfriend named Nekoda who won't tell you exactly what she is or what her ultimate agenda is. Meanwhile, a series of hateful attacks upon Nick and his classmates sows discord and hatred among the students while physical attacks on Nick may ensure that he never reaches the fateful turning point in his life at all.

Another fascinating insight into the life of a smart-mouthed, hormone-riddled, intensely loyal boy who is struggling to find his equilibrium. In other words, a typical teenager. The entertaining glimpse into a different aspect of the Dark-Hunter universe is a bit confusing as the potential futures keep shifting, especially if one is familiar with the subsequent occurrences as described in the adult Dark Hunter series. Nick is an engaging character as he works through the plethora of obstacles that range from homework to attempted murder. More hints are revealed about his background and both Caleb and Nekoda are forced to evaluate their goals for the engaging young man that they are attempting to guard. A great addition to the series.

There are times I sometimes forget why I love to read so much. Life gets busy, television is easier because I can have it on and do a thousand other things at the same time. I do love to read but time management for it is hard.

Because of this time constraint, I forget just how wonderful a great book can really be. Every time this happens, Sherrilyn Kenyon reminds me of what a true storyteller can do.

In reading Infamous, the third book in the Chronicles of Nick series, I was transported to New Orleans for yet another amazing supernatural adventure.

Not only does she tell an exciting story, but she really hits on teen problems without smacking you in the face with it. She doesn't dance around things like some teen movies do. You watch Nick facing problems with friends - whose real, whose not. In this story she even touches base on suicide, and what might drive someone to it and how easy it can be to bring them back if you just take the time to care.

Nick is a boy born to destroy the world and yet time and time again in this book and all the ones before it, he shows us that no one decides who and what we will be but ourselves. It is our decisions that create who we are and we must take responsibility for that.

In this book and this series, Sherrilyn shows time and again that she's truly in touch with the teen mind and while addressing these problems still manages to take us on an exciting adventure as a nasty blog depicting horrible lies about his fellow classmates puts the whole school at war and Nick's father proves he has more deadly plans than Nick ever suspected. In the end, who can Nick truly trust? And can he, a creature born of hatred, ever truly love someone else?

Five stars to the latest book in this fabulous series. I'm looking forward to reading the next. Bravo.

Infamous is the third book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Chronicles of Nick series so this review may contain spoilers for previous books. I'm going to assume that anyone who reads beyond this point is up to date with the series so look away now if you're not!

Nothing is ever easy for Nick, ever since he discovered the truth about his father and the prophecy surrounding his own birth he has been struggling to come to terms with things. He doesn't want to be responsible for the end of the world and although he has been told that he was born evil he wants to believe that he has a choice in the way he behaves. I love Nick and the relationship he has with his mother, they have their arguments sure but they are the centre of each others worlds and have always been there for each other. There are some really sweet scenes between them in this book and also some upsetting ones that give more information about Cherise's past and everything she went through to have Nick.

Nick and his mother never really had many people to rely on apart from Mennie who was the only person not to look down on them and who offered unconditional support. What is really nice is that they are now gaining quite a support system and this really shines through after Nick yet again finds himself injured and in hospital. Poor Nick never seems to get through a book without suffering serious harm! I'm really enjoying getting to know the side characters - from the completely crazy Bubba and Mark (and meeting Bubba's mother was fantastic!), to Kyrian and Acheron, along with Cherise's new colleagues - they all have something to bring to the story and are far from one dimensional. Of course we can't forget Nick's protectors - the demon Caleb and the mysterious Kody who is keeping more than a few secrets from him.

Infamous will answer some of the questions that were raised in previous books but it will also leave you with plenty of new ones. Fans of the series will love this latest instalment and I can't wait to get my hands on Inferno to find out what happens next!

Review Courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales

Quick & Dirty: A teenager that has a price on his head for the powers he has yet to master. Full of fighting, both with demons and his mother; and I think that Nick would rather go up against demons any day than the petite woman that's raising him.

Opening Sentence: If banging your head against a brick wall burned a hundred and fifty calories as hour as they said it did, then Nick should be emaciated.

The Review:

Let's pretend for a moment. Let's say that you only read adult paranormal books. You come across a series about Dark-Hunters and the demons they face. Say that you adore it and can't read them fast enough. But something about one of the character's, Nick Gautier's, story leaves you sad. What would have happened if the circumstances had been different, if Nick knew about all the paranormal stuff as a kid? Could he have changed his future and gotten a happily-ever-after just like the rest of characters? The Chronicles of Nick has been exploring that very question. In the third installment, Infamous, Nick finally understands what is at stake and he tries to come to terms with it. The prevalent theme that is explored in this book is whether evil is learned or inherited; and whether or not a person can change their destiny by will alone.

Nick is just a teenager. He now has his very own bedroom (not a blanket separating his space from a larger room), a good job, and his very first girlfriend. For a boy his age, that would be enough to keep him busy. For Nick though, he gets the additional pressure of being a demon destined to kill everyone he loves and destroy the world. To help prevent this from happening, Ambrose (that he now knows is his future self) tells him that he must master his innate powers before it's too late and he no longer has any empathy left for humanity. Oh and, by the way, every demon out there is going to try to kill you so that they can absorb your powers for themselves. Talk about problems. Nick must find a way to survive, learn the lessons from his tutor, Death, do his job with Kyrian, keep his friend's safe from other demons and each other, keep up on his homework, all while keeping his mother happy in her ignorance. And here I thought that my life was complicated.

This book is all about self-doubt. Nick has been told he is going to be the ultimate evil, but can't wrap his head around it. He questions whether or not his father's blood will overrule his innate goodness. He questions whether or not it is worth fighting if, in the end, he will become what everyone thinks he will be anyway. Does our situation, our choices, truly affect the outcome of our lives? Or are we what we were meant to be, no matter what? Nick has been ridiculed his whole life based on his poverty without it knocking him down; is this new development any different? Can he rise above other people's expectations and do what he feels is right?

Even the student's at Nick's school are being plagued with self-doubt and destruction. Someone is posting on the internet all of the student's secrets, both true and fabricated. This is causing mass anger and hysteria, with students and friends turning on one another. Some individual students are so distraught over the rumors that they contemplate suicide, including one that's close to Nick. Is this the work of a demon or is it ole fashion human cruelty? Can Nick and his friends find out who is behind it before it's too late?

This book also explores the relationship between Nick and both of his parents. We learn about how such a kind soul like Cherise ends up together with someone as evil and black-hearted as Adarian. Could someone like Adarian, a Malachai, even be capable of feeling an emotion like love? If he can't, than does Nick have a chance to? Nick is concerned with what he can and can't do, because of his legacy, and not with his own free will. If he is so hung up on blood and the traits inherited, what does he think about his mother and her contribution? It is something that every teenager thinks about, except with Nick, it is a little more extreme. All of us have worried if we will turn out just like our parents or if we can be different from them. We all have contemplated the effects of our parents on our adult lives. Are we different from our parents or the same; better or worse?

I am very satisfied with this book and the events that transpire. Nick is engaging enough as a character to keep me waiting on pins and needles for the next installment. I am cheering you on, Nick! You can do it!

The Chronicles of Nick Series:

1. Infinity

2. Invincible

3. Infamous

FTC Advisory: St. Martin's Griffin provided me with a copy of Infamous. No goody bags, sponsorships, "material connections," or bribes were exchanged for my review. The only payment received came in the form of hugs and kisses from my little boys.

Third in the Chronicles of Nick urban fantasy series focusing on Nick Gautier as a child. (Sort of runs parallel with the Dark-Hunters series.)

My Take
The theme song here is of fighting and love. All within the ADD of teen hormones and Malachai tendencies with an interesting exploration of the effects of love which helps Nick figure out how to combat his own demonic nature. He also starts to learn to stand up for himself. Especially with his mother! And about time.

That Nick is such a crackup! I did enjoy his taunting of his teacher as he tries out the new magic--silkspeech--to which Grim has introduced him. Oh, and then he comes up with such sweet things to say when he puts Jill down for gossiping!

"'She smiled. 'If you say so. I don't know her well enough to comment.'
'Then you don't know here well enough to carry a rumor that is completely untrue.'"

Very nice life goal: Nick wants to be a lawyer...it's the warrior side in him coming out.

Nick finds out how very many friends he has when he's in the hospital and again when he's accused of rape.

It's from one end of the spectrum to the other: it takes hospitalization and a false accusation for Nick to learn how very many friends he has, and, he meets his grandparents and they suck big time. Talk about rude, disgusting and, did I say, RUDE. I wanna smack `em. How incredibly obnxoious they are@!#!

The Story
While kids at school are getting their secrets outed on a vicious website with their faces photoshopped into disgusting sex acts, the demons are fixing on Nick's position and we learn a great deal more about his father's--Adarian's--intentions and Nick's own "predestined" future--with a big target on his back.

Nick learns that he was "conceived in violence to do violence"; a heavy birthright to combat. And provides new insight to his mom as well as to his own destiny. But he's also the first Malachai raised with love.

We also find out that Adarian has chosen to stay in jail...even manufacturing incidents to ensure his stay...because all that angst, anger, etc. is food for him. And that he has another son by a goddess. If he can kill both sons and absorb both sons' powers...

The Characters
Nick Gautier is 14 in this installment and he's just learned he's a Malachai demon destined to destroy the world. And Cajun on his momma's side. Huh...and he thought he was simply a teenager. With a mom--Cherise Gautier--who never listens to him and always jumps to the wrong conclusions. Menyara is an old friend of his mother's who has been very supportive from the start.
Ambrose is a very close relation.

Nekoda Kennedy and Caleb Malphas (a mid-level daeva demon but with far greater powers) are posing as students so they can protect Nick and/or the world. Each has their own agenda and individual bosses. Who themselves have their own agendas. Kody is also Nick's girlfriend. Her boss is Sraosha. Caleb slipped up and did something that has damned him to work as a slave demon for Adarian.

Adarian wants his son well-trained in his powers because he has some very final plans for Nick. Thankfully, he won't allow Grim to kill Cherise. Noir is the demon whose leash Adarian slipped and he's been hunting for Nick; he's one of three who created the Malachai as a counterpoint to the Sephiroth army. Jared is the Sephiroth representative as Nick is the Malachai.

Kryian Hunter is a Dark-Hunter who has employed Nick to do odd jobs for him. And whom his mom thinks is a drug dealer. Acheron is the go-to guy in the Dark-Hunter series. The Boss. The Man In Charge. And Nick's friend. Simi shows up for a cameo. Virgil Ward is a vampire attorney. Artemis is the goddess who creates the Dark Hunters.

Grim Reaper has been hired to teach Nick how to use his powers. Only, it's not as benign as I've thought...

Brynna Adams was one of Nick's first friends at St. Richards. Madaug St. James is another friend of Nick's and is computer-brilliant. A little too brilliant sometimes. Michael "Bubba" Burdette runs a computer-gun store and a server farm in the back room. And, hoo boy, has this boy got a backstory! Turns out that Bubba's mama is a world-renowned doctor, Dr. Bobbi Jean Burdette, AND a friend of Cherise's. Mark is his too-goofy partner with a preference for hiding behind duck urine
Aimee, Dev, Cherif, and Quinn are ursine shifter siblings at Sanctuary. Wren is a tigard and hanging out as a busboy at
Sanctuary.

Stone Blakemore is one of the bullies at school who is always picking on Nick. He's also a werewolf. Casey Woods is Stone's on-again, off-again girlfriend who has her sights set on Nick. Mason is one of Stone's friends. Jill and Joey Becker are new students with an unexpected connection to Nick. Dina Quattlebaum is another student.

Asmodeus, Thorn, and Bane (Pestilence of the Four Horsemen and a friend of Grim's) help Nick when he inadvertently shows up in Azmodea.

The Cover
The cover is GREEN! It's a sulky looking Nick in a hoodie with some sort of shield projected onto his chest and the book's title centered within.

And Nick is Infamous throughout their world for his true identity.

In INFINITY, Nick had to do battle with his fellow classmates who had turned into flesh eating zombies. In INVINCIBLE, Nick was up against a horde of demons who were after the bounty on his head. Given the formidable paranormal foes Nick fought in the previous two books, I was expecting him to once again face off with another seriously scary supernatural baddie in INFAMOUS. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be...school bullies.

I understand that the topic of bullying is especially relevant in this day and age, and Kenyon doesn't use kid gloves when dealing with the issue. The bully in INFAMOUS resorts to truly horrendous attacks including posting doctored bestiality pornographic images of one of Nick's classmates, supposed rape footage, outing several homosexual students by posting more photoshopped images, and a website revealing everyone's deepest darkest secrets...and the supposed sources who revealed them. But...I don't read The Chronicles of Nick series because I want to hear about bullies. That's not to say there aren't some supernatural things in INFAMOUS, there are and those were the parts that I enjoyed the most, but most of this book felt like a lecture on the evils of bullying. Hey, no argument there which is why I didn't particularly enjoy reading about it for almost 500 pages.

The things I enjoy about The Chronicles of Nick series are still present in INFAMOUS. The cameos from the Dark-Hunter series (which there are a lot of in this installment), the pitch perfect depiction of Nick as a fifteen year old boy with all the messy, endearing qualities that won my heart in INFINITY, and the fresh and inventive directions Kenyon takes this version of her beloved character. I really just wish the plot this time had dealt more with the supernatural problems facing Nick than with the natural. I'm still completely invested in this series and will be back for INFERNO when it hits shelves on March 4, 2013.

Sexual Content:
Kissing. References to pornography including bestiality. References to rape.

I give this book 5 stars.
When I first started this book, I had feared that the storyline/characters had gone backwards in their development, a sort of reverse character/plot arc. The events that started to take place, the characters responses to those events had me wondering what was going on and if I would keep reading this book.
BUT... the author was using these set backs as a way to build to an amazing twist.
I am very impressed with this book. It has raised my opinion of Sherrilyn Kenyon and her skills as an author.
When I finished this book last night, I was on an emotional high. This book will move your emotions having you cheering, and saying a few 'amen to that!'.
Infamous came into my reading schedule at the exact perfect time. I was really needing this spirit-lifting book.
The story speaks out about bullying, envy, and gossiping and the damage they can do. Which seems to be an odd combination for a supernatural fantasy book, but it worked wonderfully without detracting from the action combat adventure that this series normally has.
If you are looking for a story to lift your spirits, raise your hope in family, friends and community this book will meet that need.
Yes, this is a fictional work, but sometimes fiction delivers its messages in a softer manner making it easier to hear and absorb then nonfiction.
Kudos gos to Ms Kenyon for delivering such a powerful and moving message.
I read the local libraries copy of this book, but plan on purchasing this when it comes out on paper back. This book is a keeper!

If I could I would give this book 4.5 since I am a hardcore Kenyon fan and I did love this book. However, while there were many pros, there were some cons as well.

Pros:

- The story was wonderfully fast-paced and action packed. It was also as intricate and mysterious as all her books. I don't know how that woman stores so much in her brain, but she is a spectacular story teller.

- The dialogue was hilarious, relatable and full of depth and meaning all at once. Kenyon truly understands emotions and how people think and function. It's impressive how she well she knows pain, loss, fear... etc. as well as love and friendship.

- The book was packed full of good lessons and touched on issues with teens today. Cyber bullying was covered, teen suicide was covered, as was inner strength and taking the moral high ground. Infamous is filled with real life lessons, but it is done in a way that isn't preachy or annoying. It was thought-provoking and both teens and adults can relate to what is said in this book.

- Seeing more of the older character's from Kenyon's adult series, like Thorn! Yay Thorn!

Cons:

- While the story did move forward, I would have liked it if it had moved just a bit more. I felt slightly unfulfilled, like I needed a couple more chapters. I wanted more revealed and less mystery in certain areas.

Overall I loved Infamous. This is the type of book that can touch a lot of readers with its depth and understanding.
I can't wait for more. I am so unbelievably obsessed with the complex world Kenyon has created.

While not as breathtakingly addictive as the first book in the series, Infinity, Infamous is still so delectably addictive that I spent the following two days after I picked it up unable to do anything else but read it.

Infamous like the previous books in the series is a rollercoaster ride of adrenaline pumped action. Unlike the zombie attack that Nick had to deal with before, or the killer coach, this time Nick has to deal with even worse enemies and issues including; killer insects, felony charges, and last but certainly not least, his father. While these attacks and enemies don't seem as scary as a full on zombie attack, killer werewolves, or even getting shot, let me assure you this is one of the tightest situation Nick has ever been in

Not only are the enemies great, but the magic and powers reach a new peak. This is the first book in the series we really get an inside look at Nick's powers and what he can become. Kenyon does a great job creating engaging powers that leave an air of mystery as to what will happen to Nick's future. She explains how things can change from the future readers have seen, and really open up the series to a new set of possibilities.

All in all Infamous was fun and exciting. Its high level of adrenaline pumping action was exactly what I was looking for and it met expectations handily. All in all a great new addition to the series.

What else can I say other that I am addicted to this series? With each new installment, I fall in love all over again!

So what is new in Nick's world? Oh nothing just himself from the future coming to him to help not mess up for the one hundred million time, all the while every time he turns around he is on the brink of being killed, his mom is on him about his grades and school, plus he has work and a girlfriend he must attend too. WOO! Nick has been busy!

The plot of the book unfold amazingly. With an introduction that entices the reader to keep going Nick must watch his every step. I adore how much Nick grew in knowledge. He is much wiser and much more careful with who he trusts. Nick has a great set of friends around him who helps him no matter what.

I really adore how this book focuses more on Nick relationship with his mom. The reader learns more about his parents, especially about his father. I really loved this part. I wasn't expecting such a throw down but WOW MAMA!

Infamous is an remarkable story that will capture any reader. With the big decision coming up soon, Nick will have to choose what he will do. Will he lead the word to destruction or will he turn away from fate creating his own destiny? Creative and original, Ms. Kenyon has yet again created an amazing story. Infamous is richer than ever!

I mostly loved the first two books, even though I don't understand this whole going back to rewrite the future thing. I never believed Nick needed to bring his mother back, in my opinion where should've been a book about his future and finding a soul-mate to anchor him. But this book... it's just too much.
I have to admit I never cared about Nick's mother's death, but after getting to know her - I don't care about her even more. No that's a lie, I hate her with a passion.

I don't understand how it is possible for Nick to think she's a saint when she does nothing but yell and humiliate him. She always thinks the worst of him. Never takes his side. Punishes for nothing. Treats him like a retard. She doesn't listen. Projects all her life's traumas on him. In other words, holds him responsible for everything and anything already seeing him in jail just like his father.
And she is supposed to be a good mother because she didn't give him up? Come on! What she is doing to him I consider worse than abandoning, especially when she uses it as emotional blackmail.

And because the book was full of her, I could not enjoy it for a moment.
So basically this is the end of my ranting :) I was just so furious over her character I couldn't contain it. I mean Artemis doesn't look that bad in comparison. At least we know she's a cold-hearted, selfish b****. While Cherise is supposed to be a saint.

LOVED :) This series is so amazing! I swear I need to check out the adult series that started it all. This is the spin off so....But it's awesome!

OMG, Nick-Is-Freaking-Hilarious! I swear that boy just cracks me right on up. I really like Nick's character. He's funny, smart, brave, dorky, hot tempered, cute, and just overall awesome :) In this book, to me, it seems as if it's more darker than the other books. He goes through a lot of terrible situations and accusations that really sucked, for lack of a better word. The way he handled himself in the situations was mature, especially with his mom. I swear that women got on my last nerve. Seriously, I mean you find out a lot about her in this book, but she was EXTREME! I feel you Nick, I feel you.

I think I am in love with Kyrian and Acheon. Specifically Kyrian! I swoon over him :) I don't know what it is about those two, but *sigh*! I still can't figure out Caleb and Kody, especially Kody! With that ending. Whoa :) Was Grim serious?!

This series is an action packed roller coaster that leaves you wanting more. I CANNOT wait for the next installment. I highly recommend this series :)

Nick's got issues. The entire world--and that includes his mother--is waiting for him to turn evil. All Nick wants to do is survive high school, prove to his mom he's not a ticking time bomb of bad, and maybe even take his girl to a movie. Is that too much to ask? But with his evil future-self breathing down his neck, a hidden evil menacing those he cares about at school, and enemies bearing down on all sides, can Nick really avoid his twisted fate? Or will he lose himself and drag everything he loves down with him?

In this third installment of the Chronicles of Nick, Sherrilyn Kenyon reasserts her authority as master of the YA sci-fi/fantasy fiction. Although Nick gets beaten up perhaps once to many times in this volume, the struggle he and his friends face--whether to give in, give up, and go home or to keep fighting to the very last--raises some pretty big questions for readers to face. Wrangling with questions of destiny, free will, friendships, and forgiveness, Infamous: Chronicles of Nick presents a slightly darker world to its reader than previous installments and will leave you begging to find out what exactly the world (or Sherrilyn Kenyon) has in store for Nick Gautier next.

Nick Gautier is trying to stay out of trouble, keep his head above the water. He's trying hard, majoring in survival. But when you live in his world that's kind hard, especially when you have a father for a demon who wants you dead.

I loved this story. Infamous is a great read. It is wonderfully fast-paced. Nick keeps finding trouble, but really none of it's his fault. He can't help that he attracts it due to his nature. A plus with this installment is that quite a few questions were answered. I also loved seeing Thorn and Bane make an appearance. Chronicles of Nick is very much a prequel as it is an extension of The Dark-Hunter series. A world that is always changing and ever expanding. Kenyon does a fantastic job of keeping things fresh and leaving the reader wanting more.

Infamous is narrated by Holter Graham. When I first listened to him read a Dark-Hunter book I didn't care for the voice too much, but he as grown on me. One of my favorite characters, Simi makes another appearance and Mr. Graham, surprisingly does a perfect Simi. This audio also includes an interview with Holter Graham.

Nick Gautier is walking the fine line between good and evil. With both sides conspiring to win his soul. This is Ambrose's last shot at changing his fate, and not all of Nick's friends are really his allies. Of course frenemies aren't so bad when you own father's out to kill you, demons are trying to enslave you, and your mom seems hellbent on ruining your love life and street cred with awful shirts and infinite groundings.

When trouble comes to his school in the form of cyber bullying, Nick makes it his new mission to find out who's behind it and stop them. But Gautier is going to have to be careful, making the wrong choice could cost him his life, his soul, or the people he loves.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is not only taking on the plight of good and evil to save or destroy the world, she's also tackling current trends in bullying, and the always popular parent/teen topics of sex, drugs, and drinking. Basically Nick might be too much of a saint for his age, with a mother who really doesn't deserve him.

This book spent a lot of time trying to lay out and redefine Nick's relationship with his mom. I found this dynamic as frustrating as Nick would, only I didn't love her in the end, no matter how much Kenyon tried to redeem her. His relationships with Caleb and Kody on the other hand were refreshing in between the verbal or physical bashing Nick took in this one.

Infamous started off great and ended with a bang. It wasn't as exciting to me as the past installments, but that was mainly because the author spent a lot of time laying the ground work for the series. The series is starting to take shape, but the main story plot seemed loosely threaded throughout the book to string together the bullying aspect. It was so strongly intertwined with the other story lines I felt it got lost at times, which I found made the plot hard to follow in the middle of the book, before things came together in the end.

Holter Graham did another amazing job narrating this series. Sometimes I feel like male readers don't do enough to emphasize female characters, but Graham never fails to create wonderful voices for each distinct character. He reads so clearly, recreating Kenyon's words with his accents, pronunciations, and diction which are always spot on. The Chronicle's of Nick really highlights Graham's strength, in matching a voice with the character's personality. Some narrators just change the tone of their voice, but Graham uses a mixture of vocal nuances, accents, and acting to deliver an auditory mirage of characters. Holter Graham is a big part of why I enjoy this series as much as I do.

I just got done reading this book and that ending makes you want to buy the next one to see what happens. I know everyone has different taste in books and you cant always be pessimistic about them by what people say, but I would not recommend this book to anyone unless they like really slow plots. The first 270 pages nothing happens its just like everyday school life of them just hanging out and basically like a introduction. I mean like the only thing you will really remember about the book is when he gets the shit beat out of him thats it and some other things. Its like Sherrilyn Kenyon did not know what to do or she ran out of ideas who knows, but this could have been a lot better. The end was really bad too there is just one thing that kinda makes you want to read the next book but not much. The characters were put together really well, but there were so many it was hard to keep track, but maybe that was just me. I also had to force myself to finish it so I can give a review on it.I may read inferno, but I'm going to read something else first.

Nick is walking on the darkside and stoping into it a few times too much for comfort. His father is aware of his powers and has come looking for some of them. Nick must die for him to have them, not a good outcome for him. Nick is beaten so many times it is incredible that he still can walk and talk. His mother, bless her bad mother heart, just can't ever give him a break. She doubts him in everything and puts his life at even greater risk. His school, friends and others all turn on him as a new nasty comes into the picture. It messes with the students over the internet blaming Nick for terrible things. Nick, is once again abused because of his fathers wrongs. He is not totally alone. But, he will suffer and he will learn more than he ever wanted to.

From stopping zombies from eating his classmates to learning that he will grow up to bring nothing but pain and misery to those he loves, 15 year old Nick Gautier can't seem to catch a break. Dark and ancient forces have begun to circle and if he doesn't learn to use his powers to defend himself soon, he'll be dead before he's old enough to go on his first date. Unfortunately for him, that's not his only problem. Vicious rumors about his fellow classmates start spreading around school and he needs to find out who's behind the terrible lies before things turn deadly.

There's a lot going on in this book but no matter where the story went, it kept coming back to Nick and his mother Cherise. Their relationship is important to the series and while I've been a fan of her in the past because of her love for Nick, I found Cherise to be too judgmental and harsh in this book. Despite everything that's working against him, Nick is still a great student who lends a helping hand whenever anyone needs him and would give or do anything to make his mother happy but it's like she doesn't see that. She doesn't give him the benefit of the doubt when he's dragged into yet another crappy situation that really isn't his fault and is quick to condemn him. She's able to hurt him with just a look and it feels as if she's punishing him for what his father is and did when he's more than proved he's a good kid. I'm not going to say I now despise Cherise but her nagging is unjustified and is quickly getting old.

When Nick manages not to be in hot water with his mother, he's getting to the bottom of who is spreading horrible lies about people around school. I honestly didn't care much for this story. It was a little too high school drama for me, which I expected because this is a YA book but none of that is really for me.

What I enjoyed most about this book is when Nick is learning more about what he is, what he will become capable of, and the horrible fallout that will happen if he's captured by the demons. All of its interesting and I was happy to see that Sherrilyn Kenyon has started to layout how this series will merge with her Dark Hunter one. There are still things that need to we worked out and explained before Nick's Dark Hunter book but I'm glad she's started to work that in and look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Infamous was a little slow at the start but once it got going, I had a hard time putting it down. We go inside Nick's mind and sometimes it was funny and other times it was downright depressing. But no matter how the odds are stacked against him, Nick takes it all in stride and shows resilience and an unquestionable goodness in him that I love. This book also has solid supporting cast that works great along side Nick. There's Caleb, his demon bodyguard who's starting to think of Nick as more than an assignment, and Kody, another bodyguard and his new girlfriend who's a bit of a mystery, plus familiar faces like Acheron, Kyrian and the Peltiers. The first book is still my favorite in this series but there were improvements over the previous book and it left me excited waiting for Inferno, which will be released in March of next year.

Adult Nick Gautier informed teenage Nick Gautier that unless he can alter the time stream, he will destroy the world. The fifteen year old Nick has fought zombies to the death and has practiced necromancy so figures this can't be as hard as keeping a girlfriend especially when you are the pariah one day extinguishing the world. Even his father wants him dead as the easiest way to prevent future total annihilation.

Still Nick attends high school as a good education is important. With Caleb the demon bodyguard and Kody the maybe girlfriend, Nick survives school. However the trio becomes involved in investigating a website telling vicious lies about the students while the assaults on Nick exponentially grow from unlikely sources.

The latest The Chronicles of Nick urban fantasy (see Invincible and Infinity) continues the exciting tale of a teen who must save the world before he destroys the world. Under pressure, Nick remains calm and impertinent as he smart-mouths his way in battle against "friends" and foes. Readers will relish this entry and the clever chronicles as Nick to save the world has to "erase" the Dark-Hunter saga.

Hands down....This is the best so far. I think that for this to be a young teen book, this adult woman is pretty addicted.
I found Infamous was the funniest of all three. Nick really shines on the personality front and SK brought her A-game.

This book by itself covers what two or three Dream-Hunter books explained and I love how SK did it without having to go into too many details.

I really love how Sherrilyn K. brings in all the characters from the DH series, and I also enjoyed that she is gave us more info with regards to the Malachi. I really hope to see Jared factored into the story at some point. [Im]patiently waiting for book four....

I really tried to like this book, however I found myself skipping through the book. I'm not the target teen audience. But I loved Salt to the Sea and Lady Midnight and Revealed for example. The book also feels very feminine in voice. I know the author is a woman, but the main character Nick is a 15 year old boy and it didn't feel autheic to me!

All Nick wants to do is get his drivers license and take Kody on a date. What he gets instead is more people trying to kill him. Sherrilyn Kenyon does a fantastic job of weaving teenage aghast with the immortal world of her Dark Hunters. Nick has the potential to be the greatest good or the evilest evil. Both are tested to the max in this book and only Nick can decide what he becomes.

The book that I have recently read is called Infamous: Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon. This book is the first of its series and a spinoff of the Dark Hunter series. Infamous: Chronicles of Nick is about a young teenage boy living in the slums of New Orleans. The young boy named Nick has lived in poverty with his mother since birth and never truly discovers his self worth. He is constantly being made fun of by his peers. At the early age of fourteen his whole world changes. He discovers that he is not only the son of an immortal demon, but that demon is the most powerful and feared demon ever known: a Malakia. He is slowly introduced to all the other species that he never knew existed; like his new employer Kyrian. Kyrian is an ancient warrior, called a Dark Hunter, bound to Artemis. Kyrian walks the earth at night killing other demons and vampires. Nick is sucked into a life he knew nothing of and surely would have preferred it to stay that way. Nick meets new friends along his journey that prove to be his only allies against the world. This is due to the fact that everyone, gods and demons alike, are out to kill him because soon he will be coming into full powers that could end the world. This can only happen if the evil forces devour him. It seems as if Nick cannot catch a break, whether its his: overly worried mother, constant bullies at school, or just his big mouth, he is always staring conflict in the face. The author makes a point to show that Nick is no coward. Whatever danger the author has Nick facing, he confronts it head on. Another major conflict he faces is learning to control the powers growing inside him. Nick's friend Caleb is all the while helping him to discover how to use those powers. As if the conflicts aren't enough, the two have to attempt to survive typical high school life as a teenager as well. Even Nick's father is trying to kill him and Nick is faced with the difficult task of learning quickly to avoid certain death.
The author of this book did an excellent job in creating a suspenseful, action packed story with many intricate parts and pieces. These delicate parts and pieces fit together like a jigsaw puzzle and left me determined to read the next book of the series. The plot is very well explained in detail and it made for a very easy transition into the demon filled world Nick is experiencing. The author did an excellent job making all of the major conflicts throughout the story very apparent. These conflicts helped to determine the plot because of the nature of the story. The most overwhelming conflict to plot involved in this story is the character, Nick, trying to accept his new powers and the dangers associated with them. Within this come many other smaller conflicts that helped to keep me entranced in the book. Overall, Sherrilyn Kenyon kept the point of view very basic and made an excellent story that involved many conflicts and exciting plot twists.

For once I decided to check out other reviews here before posting this one. I thought perhaps I was being overly critical in my thinking that Ms. Kenyon may be losing her touch... Sadly, review after review on various books not only confirmed my own feelings, but went even further. Some were actually pretty brutal, which is not something I would do. They were unnecessarily harsh, and serve no real purpose.

As a writer, I'm not into cutting others down, demeaning them, etc., and I'm not going to change that now. Writing is fun, but it's also hard work, and the pressure--whether we're signed or self-published--can be tremendously worse than any other field of work I've ever had to navigate. Please keep that in mind while reading this review, as my only concern and intention here is to be honest in hopes that the writer might read it and mull over my words. Doubtful, but one can dream... If one hears the same things over and over, either they break--which I do not want to see happen--or they address the problem. That is my hope now.

I've read every book Ms. Kenyon, aka; Ms. MacGregor has ever written. In fact, I probably wouldn't have ever started writing had it not been for her 'Author's Notes' in one of her e-books. She inspired me more than any other writer, and foremost, I will remain loyal to her.

Review: (My 3-stars is only because of who she is, and the potential I know is there. We ALL know it, due to all of her other great works)

I pre-ordered Infamous; book 3 in the Chronicles of Nick, as I do all of her e-books. When I started the this one, I just couldn't get into it. Usually I read 3-5 books a week, so imagine how sad I was that I could not get past this particular story. It took me 4-months to finally make myself finish. I don't know why, but this one seemed to be filled with more psychobabble than any book I've ever read; between Dakota's sage words of advice (which seemed to take up pages at a time), and poor Nick berating himself for every single thing (always trying to do the right thing, and always trying to keep everyone else safe and happy), I was upset most of the time. I absolutely believe that a book should invoke deep emotions and make us really think, but that's not what I meant with my statement. It went way beyond the typical teen-angst regarding sex, drugs, etc., as it just kept on going... page, after page, after page of nonessential bullshit, in my opinion. I skimmed past more pages than I'm willing to admit here.

Let's get into his mama now--shall we? As a mama of 3-grown kids myself, she disturbed me on a level of which I have never experienced. We already know Cherise had him very young--not unlike many of us in real-life--but for the love of God, why is she so distrusting and mean to him? I could only pray for a kid as good as Nick! Never in my reading career have I disliked a character--and one who's supposed to be one of the 'good guys'--to such an extent. That woman drove me nuts to the point I almost didn't finish the book. The further I got, the more my contempt for her grew, and now I'm afraid if I ever meet a woman with that name and who even remotely fits her description, I'll probably want to kick her ass just for sharing those traits. Pretty sad, really. And now I digress...

I felt I owed it to the previous 2-books to finish Infamous, and I did pay for it; those are the only reasons I finished it at all. I think that's all I'll say about Infamous, as I'm certain you all get the gist. I only hope Ms. Kenyon will check out these reviews herself, and hopefully take away the positive from them; and yes, there truly is plenty of positive. Maybe then, we'll all get our old Sherrilyn Kenyon aka; Kinley MacGregor back. That would be the optimum outcome, at least for me.

Maybe Ms. Kenyon has things going on in her personal life--who knows? I'm thinking maybe she should stop putting so much pressure on herself, and take a much needed break. I know she still has MANY great stories in her, but after all the reviews I just read and my own experience, it seems to me she needs to step away from the computer and give herself a breather. I will remain a fan, I will still buy her books, I will read them all. I only hope she takes some advice from anyone, and helps herself by backing away for a little while. It can't hurt at this point.

I didn't say any of this to be mean or hurtful; I'm actually very saddened by the whole thing.

Thank you...

It's been awhile since I read the previous two books but this is so well written that I was back up to speed in no time. Nick is learning a lot in this one...about his mom, himself, and love. Ending on a cliff hanger seems to be how this series is going to go so I'm off to find the next one!

Let me preface my review with the fact that I fell in love with the Dark Hunter universe through the 'Chronicle of Nick' series. I enjoyed the twists and over developed characterization.

My problems are primarily with the rushed feel of the paperback. The story cannot stand alone in the series, was disjointed, and never gave me a feeling of completion. I would be more happy if the mother would stop her incessant use of the word 'boo.' Every time I read it, I cringe a little on the inside.

On the positive side, there is no way that I would lie and say I was done with the series. I will give Nick another book, and hopefully with the time and development there will be an even greater story worth my $10

It's hard for me to get into a book series. I'm a trilogy reader for the most part. I love to read, but I also love a lot of difference genres from horror to romance and everything in between. I usually can't get into a series because I'm ready to read something different in a week, but this series has really caught my interest!

While this novel is considered teen fiction the topics are universal and plot keeps adults just as engaged. Ms. Kenyon deals with the sensitive topics of self doubt and self worth in a way that positively and realistically challenges the reader to move beyond the moment that every human has that they are alone in the world and that nothing will ever get better. That perhaps suicide just may be the answer, to bring the reader to realize that that is but a moment and that life will get better, that it is worth living, striving and loving others.

I salute you for bringing this topic to teens and adults alike even in a fictional world. We all need to ensure that we do not listen to that inner demon that makes us feel small.

I really like this series but I gotta say I can't stand Nick's mother. For someone who grew up rich, she seems pretty dumb about things like making him wear ugly Hawaiian shirts from Goodwill just because some rich man owned them. Also she never believes him when he gets into trouble. Other than that I've enjoyed the books.

This series is fantastic. Such a mix of genres and I love the blend of characters' and their personalities. I'm always on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next to Nick. I also love that the author has her characters with flaws and constantly having to make moral decisions and showing their impact. First Impressions: I was really excited to read Infamous! I'm a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon and I admire her so much as a writer, plus I am pretty sure I've read almost all of her books. The Dark Hunters series is one of my favorites, as is The Chronicles of Nick. She is another author I would love to have the chance to meet someday and have her sign all of the books I have written by her.

First 50 Pages: I feel as though Infamous started out slower than the previous two books in this series, but it quickly picked up the pace just a few chapters into the story. Like with her other novels, Infamous is action packed with a lot of emotion and great quality writing. Nick even begins to grow up a little bit in this book, since he is now (finally) fifteen. I also think that the plot is starting to merge with the adult Dark Hunters books, as more characters from those books are starting to pop up! Yay!

Characters & Plot: I'll just come out and say it right not that this wasn't my favorite book in the series so far, and most of it stems from the themes and one particular character, which I'll uncover in a little bit.

Infamous begins with yet another disaster at the school, with rumors and secrets flying all over the place. There is some major gossip going on as well as some serious cyber bullying. As if zombies and demons aren't enough to worry about, right? Nick tries and tries to make everything right again, but he keeps getting put into difficult situations he really has no control over. Trouble just seems to follow Nick around like a lost puppy, and unfortunately, he has to deal with the consequences. Let me rephrase that. Nick is forced to deal with crazy-as-a-bat mother.

I know that some people really love Cherise, but she drives me bonkers. Her character is so irritating to me in so many ways. I honestly wish she would just go away, and not just because Infamous featured her and her relationship with Nick so prominently, but because she isn't a good person and she has zero faith in her son. This novel revolved around Nick and his mother, and by the end of the story, I had had enough of Cherise. The way she speaks down to him is horrible and she acts like he deliberately gets himself into trouble, or she treats him like a baby. I just really do not like this character and I'm not sure how anyone can like her.

Along with the annoying motherly issues, came other issues I found slightly annoying. The themes of this book felt scripted and preachy, something that I didn't find was a great asset to the novel. Infamous felt like it really wanted to drive home certain points in a non-subtle manner. I'm guessing Sherrilyn Kenyon very much wanted teens to know that drinking, using drugs, and pre-marital sex are super bad and evil. The teen angst in this book was also off the charts, but with Cherise breathing down Nick's back every two seconds, I can see why he seemed, well, so teenagerish.

Now, all of this isn't to say that it was a bad book, because it wasn't. I liked a lot of other things about it too. Like I said before, the plot between the adult books and this series is starting to converge a little bit with the introduction of characters from her other stories. I have a feeling that there is still a few books to go before we really see huge, major changes. Nick also seemed more mature and less childlike in Infamous, much to my delight. I still would like to see him mature a lot more before this series ends, but this book is a step in the right direction.

Final Thoughts: Even though Infamous isn't my favorite in the series, I would still give it a good recommendation to pick it up and read it. Sherrilyn really is a great writer and The Chronicles of Nick series is wonderful as a whole. I think other people won't judge Nick's mother as harshly as I have and its more of a personal preference then a problem with the author's writing. I am excited to see what Nick does next!

This book was amazing. I loved the fact that a lot of the things in here were also some things we need to consider in the real world, like not everything is not what it seems to be and to have more trust in the people closest to you. I know I learned some things from this book and I hope that people pay attention to these things. I'm really excited to read to Inferno!
