The ghost walker series is very passionate and packed with the kind of action that every reader will enjoy, the reader will have a hard time putting these books down until they have read the entire series...action, sex, and romance....what's not to like.

I absolutely love this author! This book was a little more in depth on the Ghostwalkers field action and you can tell that the author has done more research on her topic of writing as the series has progressed. I do look forward to more of the Ghostwalker stories and I hope it is not to long before we see another release in this series!!

I found this book by accident and read it. So I decided to read the whole series. My favorite series is the Sea Haven ones but this is now another one my favorites. I like that it doesn't matter what order you read them.

I look forward to the release of new Christine Feehan like a kid waits for Christmas. Her books are like Christmas presents. I hate to unwrap them too fast. I wasn't sure if I would like this story as much as others but I enjoyed it very much. I am really getting into the military scenes and fighting off the enemy. I have really warmed to the Ghostwalker series. After finishing this story I started re-reading the series from the beginning. It makes it richer re-reading the stories. I am looking forward to her next book, Dark Storm, I believe it comes out in early September.

I have read all of Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker books. SAMURAI GAME is the 10th book in the series. Even though the books are written so that they could be standalone, I really suggest you read the books in order. The story is enhanced by the characters from the previous books. It helps you to better understand the deep relationships. This book is Sam and Thorns story. I enjoyed every single word on every single page. Do yourself a huge favor, read this book.

Disappointed in the ending. The entire book was written with detailed information, then the book just ended. I love the author & her other books and I've only read a few from the Game series, I just thought the ending could have been better.

I have always been a fan of Christine Feehan but I think she out did herself this time! Love how this book was able to stand by itself and yet if you have been reading this series, it fit in perfectly. Some of the graphic descriptions of the torture this young girl went through could disturb some younger readers but I felt like it help create a more perfect understanding of where this girl was coming from and rounded out her character.

I loved this book. I read it in about half my normal time. Aside from Sam and Azami, who I thought had compeling stories, I particularly liked catching up with some of the past Ghoswalker heros and heroins. I would recommend this book to any Christine Feehan fan. I always know a book was good when the first thing I do when I'm done reading it is go to the author's website to see when the next book is coming.

I absolutely LOVE this series. Every one of these are intriguing and spellbinding and this is no exception. The characters are unique and have special characteristics all their own and when they meet their "other half" it can be "Explosive!".
If you love this writer, you'll like this book, as well.
Pick it up today, and let me know what you think!

Look, I know I'm part of the problem. I keep buying these damn Ghostwalker books even though the quality has been degrading. But I have to know who will kill Peter Whitney!
I would offer a detailed synopsis, but not a heck of a lot happens in this book. Thorn, or Azami, was Whitney's throwaway, the one who he experimented on before trying various things on the other girls. She was discarded in Japan, which is probably where Whitney bought her from, and adopted by a Samurai of the modern day, an old world assassin and sword smith extraordinaire. She and her two brothers have created a tech company that specializes in satellites, and coincidentally, the Ghostwalker team's would like to buy one of these satellites. During her visit to the team's base, the compound is attacked, and chaos ensues. She meets Sam, one of the Ghostwalker team members, who is one of the smartest people in the world, though he basically wastes those smarts working on the teams, as he doesn't do anything particularly interesting with all his degrees, just works as a grunt, though an enhanced, deadly grunt.
The two realize they are attracted to one another, and basically that's the story, folks. They fight together, have sex, think about how messed up they are, and fight some more, only to go home. Same story as the last few books, and not really all that compelling. We aren't really moving forward in the story at all in this book, and during it, I kept wondering why there are only two black guys on the Ghostwalker teams, and why Whitney didn't have black girls in his experiments. Maybe he's prejudiced? Thoughts like those kept distracting me, which I think is a pretty compelling argument for how this book is not very good. Normally I don't really think too much on the genetic variances in book character populations.
Also, the dialogue sucks. Things that are supposed to make you laugh, or at least smile, are so overused in Feehan's works that I want to take sharpies to those places and mark them out. Have we not heard enough of the line "you're breaking my heart" as a riposte to something that wasn't funny? It's getting old folks.

Christine Feehans GhostWalkers just get better and better. Samurai Game was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! Sam Johnson and Thorn/Azami Yoshiie made a beautiful romantic couple. Azami's story of how Dr. Whitney tortured her and than dumped her in a drug, sex slave and pimped out area of Tokyo is very sad. Have some Kleenex available. The story is very fasted paced with strong characters and the story has a lot of depth. I loved revisiting members of Team 1 and a few from Team 2. I really love the banter between the characters. We GhostWalker fans get a really good visit with Baby Daniel Ryland Miller and he is amazing and has amazing GhostWalker DNA at 9 months of age. I fell in love with this baby!! I highly recommend reading this book and the entire series. You will not be disappointed. I really didn't want this story to end.

Just started reading this, but it's from Christine Feehan, and it is awesome as usual! The main male character just appeared so things will start to heat up any minute now! The sign of a good read is getting sucked into it right from the start and this did not disappoint. I'll let ya know when I'm finished! ;-)

I am a fan of Christine's and re-read her books frequently both the Carpathian and Ghost Walkers series. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 was the middle of the book dragged a little with the detailed relationship development between the main characters. Would love to have another book about the San Francisco branch of the Ghost Walkers!

One of her best books yet. Compiling and intriguing, with suspense. Ms Feehan has out done herself with Samurai Game on a whole. I've read her other Ghostwalker books and I was just as impressed with this one as I was with her first. I can't wait for her next Ghostwalkers book to hit the shelves.

Samurai Game is as good as I expected from Feehan. It didn't disappoint! As with all the Ghostwalker books, it has a lot of action; but the best part is the strong love and immediate attraction for that one special person. The one who completes and makes that patriotic soldier whole and gives him a reason to come home.

This is another great Ghostwalker book by Christine Feehan.
Azami Yoshiie is a Ghostwalker bent on vengeance and willing to remove any one that stands in her path. She is out to kill Whitney, a crazed doctor who experimented on helpless children to further his own insane agenda.
The Ghostwalker Compound is where she has set her sights on. There she will come face to face with someone she never counted on. It appears that Ghostwalker, Sam Johnson, is her equal and possible mate.
This book is full of action and hot romance. It is another hit for Christine Feehan. I highly recommend this new book in the series. You will enjoy it.

maybe one of the best Feehans.
The book has great characters. The Asian heroine could have been a terrible stereotype. Instead she is a detailed tribute to Japanese culture while being a fascinating modern protagonist.
The book does everything you could ask for:
The plot advances the development of the series; the romance is detailed and believable; the sex is romantic and not formulitic; the battle are fascinating and full of adventure.

I was really hoping she would write Thorn's story. That said I was so disappointed. It felt like a sell-out to me. I have the full set and tho I read and re-read them this one is not of the same caliber. Did not advance the series line. "Sammy" way out of character. Storyline pat...not fresh or new or particularily interesting. When is someone gonna really do something to Whitney...or will this continue to be milked? Sorry...very disappointed./

I read the reviews before I read this book but it was already ordered so it was just to get an idea of what others thought. I didn't much like this book at all. I can't quite put my finger on what was missing which I suppose means just about everything. I felt no chemistry between these characters and there just was no build up or tension that I felt with the other couples. So Azami is a lethal weapon basically and kills at will but almost moments after meeting him it's "Sammy"? Gag. I only gave this two stars because of the presence of other characters from previous books. This was otherwise a snooze fest. So irritating to wait so long for a book that was a complete let down. I think Ms. Feehan is running out of ideas for the ghost walkers. If it is going to continue to go downhill like this, please just write one more and kill Whitney already.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this book. I own all the Ghostwalker series and was really looking forward to this one. However Azami just wasn't consistent, her calling "Sam" by "Sammy" isn't something a "traditional" Japanese woman would do. (I know I was raised in a traditional Japanese family).
The sex scenes were too much in this book, it seemed like it was more sex less story which made me sad. I also have a hard time with the fact that each character in every book is described pretty much the same, predator, lethal, dangerous, hard, extraordinary etc....I understand they are all super soldiers but it gets repetitive.
That being said, if another Ghostwalker book is written I will read it! Even though I wasn't "thrilled" with this one, it wasn't all bad and I'd love to see someone finally kill "Whitney", perhaps little Daniel one day.

Let me start off by saying that I have been a fan for quite some time.
However... The last few releases, in all of her series, have felt phoned in.
I truly enjoy the plot lines and characters, but how many times can different characters have the exact same love scene in the exact same environment as the last ones??
How many of those crystal caves are there, anyway???
How many times do I need to read that Azami is Samurai? Or that the Ghost Walkers are an elite team?
I have read the series from the beginning... I get it.
So did anyone new to the series! Many, many, many times!
If you love her characters, you will read it because you want to know where she is taking them.
On the other hand, if you are not passionate about the series... skip it.

Not as good as the rest, too much technical jargon babble, instead of the heaps of action in this one. Love Azami's character though & heaps of other stuff about it. . So will say really good read :)

I liked the book, and I am a big Feehan fan. I felt like only the end of the book got much editing. It seemed like someone said : Oh, this book is 100 pages to long. Then they chopped it off the last 3 chapters. It made the ending seem very abrupt.

After slogging through Ruthless Game and sighing in dismay at Street Game, Samurai Game came as a welcome reprieve. It was not Ms. Feehan's finest - those honors still go to books two through seven, which were truly phenomenal stand-alone re-reads - but it is a decent story although it seemed to me to end far too soon. I am a huge fan of this series and look forward to future stories - once they are well-paced and fleshed out. A great story is in the showing, not the retelling.

Are the reviews of this book from Christine's friends?? I must say I am terribly dissapointed with this book and really would like my money back. I had been eagerly awaiting this book for months and to be so dissapointed! First, I could not connect with the characters at ALL, there was no real action in the book and the romance....Duh! I have read every book Christine has written, the Ghost Walkers, Leopard Series, The Drake Sisters, Carpathians, etc. I almost feel like another person wrote this book. My suggestion would be to skip this book and spend the 7.99 on something else, the Maya Banks new release was excellent!!!!

Today I am going to attempt a review on Christine Feehan's Samurai Game. The 10th novel in her Ghostwalker series. The thing I really like about Christine is she can take characters that I find off the chart (as in eh, they don't do much for me) and make them into vital intriguing characters. She can take a story that absolutely doesn't interest me, in theory, and have me so compelled that I can not put the book down. I learned early on NOT to question her. When she is writing from her heart and not to appease her fans.. she is the best there is. There are times when she loses herself because she seems to want to please everyone.. I think she is at her very best when she just writes. Lets the chips fall where they may.. In Samurai Game she does just that.
Sam Johnson, dark and deadly. Has managed to be a quiet character throughout the Ghostwalker Series. We know he's there, he is always in our peripheral vision but he never quite leaps out and takes control. He is not a Wyatt or a Javier or Norton.. One who teases us even when it's not his book. And he's not one of the invisible ones like Jonah and Kyle.. we haven't seen much of them lately but we know they are there. We have seen Sam, we just haven't really met him. Maybe that is what makes him so devilishly intriguing.. when it's time for him to take center stage our Sam just walks in and gets the job done. I fell head over heels in lust with this man.. Envy may be a deadly sin but let me tell you I would be more than happy to die over it.. He is just that scrumptious.. Sam found his way to General Ranier as a child, tried to hotwire his car and the Ranier family took him in. Encouraged his brains and supported him when he followed his "father" into the military. The problem is no one is quite sure of "talents" what are his skills? Since he is a quiet man, not inclined to bragging and extremely private.. his skills are hidden from the brass.. leaving some (not his team) but some to think he is lacking talents and therefore expendable... Shows what they know..
Thorn, we always knew what Whitney thought of Thorn.. She dared defy him as a child. AND she had no definable use.. As far as Whitney was concerned all she was good for was to be used for experiments.. a lab rat.. useless, something expendable. At 8yrs old he decided that she had fulfilled her purpose and he tossed her into the slums in Japan. Left her either for dead or to be used in the child sex rings.. slavery. Fortunately for Thorn, she was found by a strong loving man who knew what true strength was. He raised her, taught her to control her emotions, taught her what loyalty was and most of all loved her. Thorn became Azami Yoshiie, one of the founders of an innovative satellite company. Wooed by countries.. a brilliant mind. And oh so much more. She is determined to take Whitney down. To destroy not the head but all of the arms.. to make it almost impossible for him to gather information. To destroy his network and finally to destroy him.
Faced with the knowledge that Lily was raising a child in a Ghostwalker compound and that they wanted to purchase her satellite.. Thorn and her brothers head to the compound determined to search and destroy if necessary, she was ready to do all that was needed to make sure the child was safe.. Due to some of her other activities she is also aware that to Whitney, Sam is expendable.. she wants to know why.
Almost upon their first introduction Sam knows something is off, he isn't sure until some third rate wanna be army decides to attack. Not being sure who exactly the targets are, the group splinters and Sam and Azami are left to fend for themselves and within this maelstrom they find the other part of themselves. In battle they are reborn a team .. with some wicked awesome powers.. A team not to be underestimated and most likely not to be thrown away.
I enjoyed how Christine found a way to in your face Whitney.. to showcase his arrogance by making two of his expendables so very powerful. Then in a flip side to make his valued flunkies, so arrogantly stupid.. Without going into insane detail and sharing oh so many spoilers, I will say.. I spent much of this book wondering when the other shoe was going to fall. Asking myself who exactly was the traitor. And let me tell you I questioned some pretty interesting people. This was well done of Christine.. keeping me on the edge of my seat that way.
Together Thorn and Sam become an integral part of the Ghostwalker community and I enjoyed spending time with Team One again. The guys were the wonderful selves. The only thing I didn't like was while discussing battle plans they used military terms, that's ok, that was realistic.. it's just the way those termed were explained to the reader. It seemed to take me out of the story. This could have flowed better but if that is the only flaw in an otherwise wonderfully crafted book, who am I to complain?
I will say this if you enjoy the Ghostwalkers, you will adore this book.. *grins* If you have never read a GW book you will enjoy this book.. Male or Female I think this story will gain and keep your interest

I am addicted to the Ghostwalker Series. My only complaint is that it takes entirely too long for the next book to come out. Christene Feehan is the best author I have ever read - I have read EVERY book she has published............Love her!

I am relieved to say that Ms. Feehan finally got this series back on track with this book. The last two books I was not very thrilled with but I was determined to stay the course because I LOVE all her books. I really liked Thorn because she can kick booty. Sam and the rest of the crew are just awesome. Loved the banter between the guys. This had heart and was a total thrill ride. Great job!

There must be two versions of this book. The one I read was rather ridiculous, with the same sex scenes from the previous books, a ridiculous "plot" if there was one and a so called female warrior calling the main character "Sammy" and being described as looking demure and fluttering her lashes in every other sentence.. I was really looking forward to this book and have loved all the previous Ghostwalker books, but this one was a waste of time and money. Never explained is how the general reacts to the death of his trusted assistant....oh wait, that isn't exactly explained anywhere. And what exactly do her brothers do anyway? Uh...what happened to the satellite business? This book is a mess

I picked up this book at Target --
I have read many many Christine Feehan books. I have my favorites and this is not one of them. While I enjoyed Azami and her character is well fleshed out, parts of how she feels about herself are bogged down and slow the story flow. Her feeling of inadequacy over being Thorne, her self image due to her scars aren't just brought up once, or twice, but constantly in her relationship with Sam. And it isn't just her thoughts and talking to Sam, it's in the bedroom scenes. Believe me, as a reader I understood Azami had problems with her self image. I don't have to hear it again and again to make it sink in.
Then there's Sam this brilliant man. .. Yet in this story I don't see any sources of his brilliance. Not in planning or carrying out the mission, not in his courtship, not in the way he acts. All he's focused on is getting home and having relations with Azami.
I would have liked more follow up on Azami's relationship/more interaction with her brothers. More than this little two paragraphs in meeting up with Saber. Saber was a childhood 'friend' - You'd think after what they'd gone through they'd interact more.
About 3/4 through the book suddenly I'm given names and descriptions of the Ghostwalkers. Like a who's who interupting the story flow. It was just odd although the bar/hurricane/gater story was cute. . .. And what happened to selling the satellites to the Ghostwalkers? That was why Amazi and her brothers came to the compound. What happened to following up the story line with a conclusion?
Good bones, but I feel this story could have been written a lot better. To me it looks like Feehan was making a deadline and just putting it together without a lot of thought. While I did read the whole book, skipping through the pages and pages of bedroom scenes. .. Overall I was disappointed.

Azami “Thorn” Yoshiie is seeking revenge on Dr. Peter Whitney. Whitney, who created the Ghost Walkers, experimented on her as a child and then literally threw her away when she was no longer useful to him. Adopted and saved by Mamoru Yoshiie, Azami was taught the ways of being a samurai. Now a bodyguard for her brother, Azami learns that Lily Whitney, Peter’s daughter wants to purchase a secret satellite that Azami’s brother developed. Azami believes that Lily is no different than her father and insists that her brother meets with Lily before selling her the satellite. Sam “Knight” Johnson, a Ghost Walker, is suspicious of Azami from the moment they meet. When their group is ambushed inside the Ghost Walker compound, Sam discovers that Azami is just like him. As the two begin a dangerous mission that could cost Sam his life, they realize their love for each other. Can Azami and the Ghost Walkers protect Sam? Will the Ghost Walkers finally capture Peter Whitney?
Talk about a heartbreaking story! Azami’s retelling of her abuse at the hands of Whitney left me teary eyed. Her story only further cemented my hatred for this vile character.
I loved the relationship between Sam and Azami. Azami was convinced that no man would ever want her. Sam gradually wears her down, proving to her that a happily ever after does exist for her. Every time Azami tried to run from him, Sam patiently explained why they should be together.
Samurai Game is the tenth book in the Ghost Walkers series (this is not a standalone read!). An action packed romance with hints of science fiction and political intrigue thrown in, this book and series is a definite must read for Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy Romance readers.

I am going to keep this short, and to the point. The two words I would use for Samurai game is Flat, and boring! I don't know what happened, but this book was so off for me. I didn't connect to the lead couple, or the plot. Sam had no real personality . I didn't feel like I got to know him at all. Azami was just Meh. She totally ticked me off when she went undercover as a high priced escort, and lets one of Dr. Whitney's flunkies, Frank , feel her up, suck on her fingers, and then she felt him up.....Really? I don't care if she was undercover it was disrespectful to Sam especially since she didn't even bother to tell Sam she was going undercover, and she never even tells him about the frank thing !
I didn't invest in their relationship at all, most likely because they didn't really have much of one. The book was repetitive, and tedious. A ton of " I am not good enough to love." "You are great, and I love you." " You can't love me Whitney messed me up, and I am nothing." "You are everything to me." Blah Blah Blah! I fell asleep at one point. The love making was pages long. Pages!!! Then there was the super long detailed ritual bath. Really I get it she washed him I didn't need such a in depth description of it. Nor did I need to know pages about Nano technology, every weapon under the sun, or a ton of Military Jargon. OMG and don't even get me started on the end fight with Dr. Whitney. The book builds up this big fight. OMG Whitney is sending men to kidnap the babies and almost all the men are away on a mission. OMG what are they going to do. Dun dun dun. Yea it's 4 men and Azami and Saber take them out in like 2 second talk about anti-climactic. Whatevs! I am on to the next book and I hope to GOD it's better than this one!

REVIEW of AUDIOBOOK ---
In a private underground club, a high ranking politician spends time gratifying his secret perversions with a seductive employee of the club. Behind the scenes this femme fatale is ready to use her wiles for blackmail and even greater payment from a master puppeteer. However, the dangerous game she’d plan to play just came to an abrupt halt.
Shortly thereafter, the same puppeteer loses two more assets whose purpose was to create mayhem and furnish the master with an even more deadly power base. It seems that someone, or something is trying to take the master down, or at least cripple his power plays. It seems that a new and quite unique weapon is planning to even out the playing field and she is amazing!
*** In several almost magical, exploits, author Christine Feehan opens up her latest Ghostwalkers volume with assassinations rather impossible to imagine. And I do mean magical as I think of the reader as part of an astounded audience at how the magician, or in this case, assassin, completes her missions.
With SAMURAI GAMES, Book #10 of Ms. Feehan’s mesmerizing Ghostwalker series we are introduced to a Azami “Thorn” Yoshiie, one of Peter Whitney’s experiments he decided to trash. If you’ve been a fan of this series as I have been, reading Azami’s history with the ‘mad’ doctor Whitney will certainly solidify what a monster this man truly was in his treatment of an innocent 3 year old child! Her history and torture by Whitney reinforces her vow to destroy this madman!
In this action packed installment, Sam “Knight” Johnson meets Azami and her brothers. Immediately he is wary of the petit, demure, Asian woman whom he feels is not what she seems. Sam senses something but can’t put his finger on exactly what and is leery of bringing her to the Ghostwalker compound where keeping the children and Lily Whitney safe is of the greatest importance. As it turns out, Sam and Azami get their chance before reaching the compound to investigate one another fully as they are thrown together in a massive assault and battle that show what each is made of!
The battles and skirmishes are amazing showing off both Azami and Sam’s extraordinary special powers which bring them closer, each taking turns saving one another’s lives. As it turns out this was one of the more enjoyable and exciting parts of this story. The second most enjoyable portion is where Azami begins to understand the closeness, love and respect of this band of super powerful humans who were all victims of Dr. Peter Whitney’s experiments, and her introduction as well as the reader’s to Ryland and Lily’s amazing son Daniel. (Can’t wait to read more of Daniel and the other children of the Ghostwalkers! )
In retrospect the portion of this book, that brought down the rating for me, was the rather extensive time used up in the book of the sensual encounters between Sam and Azami, and the almost childish use of Azami referring to Sam as Sammy! Yup, this big, beautiful, warrior, and super stud being coined as Sammy? – to my way of thinking - not a good choice of an endearment!
Bottom Line: Except for those two misses on the part of Feehan - SAMURAI GAME is another exciting and wonderful volume I enjoyed in this explosive series. My biggest issue now is the waiting game for the next book in this series!

Christine Feehan has delivered another stunning addition to the Ghostwalker series. I remember when the first book came out, and I have been hooked on the series ever since. I always have a hard time deciding which series I love most from this author, but there is something so intense and captivating about this series. It is fast paced....like super charged, going at full speed ahead, nothing held back. Whenever you pick one of these books up, you better be prepared for a ride of a lifetime. Because nothing gets the adrenaline pumping than one of these books. The suspense and action is never ending, and you might need to learn to meditate to calm that racing heart. (hehe...kidding...kinda ) Samurai Game has the same tone as the other stories do. But there was something more intense to it than I was expecting. This story has a combination for everyone...fast paced action, compelling characters, and paranormal elements. It all comes together into a story that will be one hell of a page turner. The plot is intense and explosive. You won't be able to get enough of it. We also get to see many members of the previous books...which was so fun. And boy you have Ryder and Lily, Gator, Ian, Tucker and Jonas. And there was so many fun scenes. I especially loved when they get together at one time and share embarrassing stories of previous missions, and gave me barrels of laughs and giggles. (I have included a small excerpt below so you can see what I enjoyed.) :) Loved seeing the comadarie of the team, the friendship and the teasing and playfulness. Definitely a story that will put a smile on your face.

Samurai Game by Christine Feehan
Paranormal Romance -July 3rd, 2012
4 1/2 stars
Samurai Game is the tenth in the Ghost Walker series. This book can be easily read by itself but many characters from previous books revisit which make reading the prior books helpful and add to the story.
In this exciting installment, Japanese businesswoman Azami 'Thorn' Yoshiie is on a mission of revenge against the man who `created' and tortured her. Taken and brutally experimented on by the nefarious Dr. Whitney, Azami was termed a throwaway because she did not manifest paranormal powers like the rest of the children in his lab. But she secretly hid her powers from him. Fortunately, when he left her for dead she was rescued by a powerful and honorable Japanese businessman. From her adopted father, she learned the ways of the samurai and plotted her vengeance against, Dr. Whitney. A man without morals or conscience. As she seeks to undermine Dr. Whitney's power base she runs into the elite Ghostwalker soldiers. Men who have also been enhanced and have special abilities.
Azami decides she must discover if the Ghostwalkers are in league with Dr. Whitney and enters their stronghold in disguise only to be attacked. There she finds the amazing Ghostwalker, Sam Johnson. A man who instantly realizes that there is something different about her and their attraction is immediate. As they fight to stay alive they form an unlikely and unbeatable team. But someone else wants Sam and Azami has dark secrets of her own. Can they work together and prevent Dr. Whitney's bid for power or are they one too many steps behind?
Readers of this series or any of Christine Feehan's books will definitely be satisfied with Samurai Game. Although not my favorite in the series, the strong characterization and emotional highs and lows make this a non-stop read. Azami is an incredible heroine. She is strong and independent. She feels she must look after and control everything. But this control is fragile and as she gets closer to confronting her demons she realizes how she needs a strong shoulder to lean on sometimes. The torture and abuse she endured would kill the sprit of most characters. I was constantly awed by her resilience and fortitude plus she has some pretty wickedly cool ninja skills! Sam is also a sympathetic character, while all of his teammates have slowly found their mates, he has been resigned to being alone. Not exactly content but `okay' with having his job be his purpose in life. But Azami changes all that and to keep her by his side this loyal soldier will even defy his leader. The plot also carries the story as Whitney and another powerful female bid for power and their lackeys are dying like flies. Plus the Ghostwalkers and Azami look for the traitor in their mist things only heat up more. However, the author leaves plenty of room for more suspense in her next book...I can't wait!
Strong, spellbinding writing will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The story itself in Feehan's Samurai Game is an absorbing read. There are twists and turns, tense scenes of action, meticulously planned assassinations, surprising new characters, enjoyable sex scenes, and plenty of character friction. For those following the GhostWalker novels there are plenty of glimpses of the other characters involved. For those who haven't read every predecessor, there's sufficient back-story and such to keep things from getting confusing.
Although it's sometimes nice to have translations for and explanations of acronyms and jargon, it felt as though Feehan came down too far on the side of failing to assume any intelligence on the part of her readers: things that seemed extremely obvious to me still received exhaustive--and sometimes repetitive--explanation. It felt as though a better balance could have been struck.
I loved the character of Azami, an enhanced psychic in her own right who comes to the GhostWalkers not knowing whether they'll be allies or enemies. Her past certainly helps to demonize Whitney, the GhostWalkers' enemy, although he appears to be a villain so evil that he belongs in a cartoon world, not one based at least in part on the solid world of the military. Along a similar vein, the traitor who is ultimately revealed (don't worry--no spoilers as to his or her identity) is so viciously unlikable (presumably so we'll have no qualms about their death) that it's almost impossible to believe anyone could have failed to miss what kind of person they were. Much less be so totally convinced of their trustworthiness.
As much as I liked Azami, and to a lesser extent Sam, I had trouble with their instant chemistry. It never totally gelled for me, and their relationship always seemed a little... discordant, somehow.
Despite my complaints, I definitely enjoyed Samurai Games. It was a fascinating adventure with plenty of action and some great new characters (Azami and her brothers). It's well worth a read, particularly if you're already enamored of the series.

Azami Yoshiie has lived her life in the way of the Samurai. She was thrown away as a child and rescued by the man who would become her father and teach her how to use her talents. Now Azami and her brothers run a highly successful international satellite company. This is what brings her to the Ghostwalker compound. But she has an alternative agenda as well. Azami seeks revenge on the man that threw her away and she's anxious to know if the Ghostwalkers are allies.
Sam "Knight" Johnson is about to be used as a pawn in a game he knows nothing about. He is a Ghostwalker and his loyalty lies with his fellow Ghostwalkers and he will do anything to protect them. When the Yoshiies come to the Ghostwalker compound to install a satellite, Sam plans to figure out their agenda but he is caught off guard by the intense attraction he feels towards Azami Yoshiie. However, he doesn't have time to assess the situation as they come under attack. Will battle bring two tortured souls together, or take away their chance at love?
Samurai Game is spectacularly sexy and molded with a great suspense plot. The action is absolutely A+ in Samurai Game. Christine Feehan gives her readers the perfect combination of exciting plotlines and fiery characters. The amount of emotion that Azami and Sam harbor is potent. Both characters are wildly independent and fierce warriors. Within five minutes of meeting each other they are forced to become a team to survive. These scenes are amazingly visual and masterfully written but Ms. Feehan. This may be the tenth title in the Ghostwalker series but it felt like the first with its thrilling characters and fresh plotlines. I can't wait to read the next Ghostwalker book!

I liked it.... and Christine Feehan's writing seems to be improving and maturing with every book she writes. There are some characters she writes about in her other books that are too Alpha and the relationships are harsh, but a little of that is why I love her books. The men are hotties... just overbearing (in some cases jerks) hotties. In this book, the female lead kicks some serious ass! I love that and that it's different than some of her other books. Not only does she kick it, but she is her own woman and relies on herself for the majority of her needs and wants (even in spite of the horrendous abuse as a child). Her character was great! So was the male lead, Sam. He genuinely loves her even in spite of the very short amount of time they know each other. We get to catch up on the earlier characters in the series, and you really should read the earlier books before reading this to have a better understanding of the series. I'd give this a try regardless... it has a good story line and some great characters.

This was an extremely boring book. I loved the series in the beginning, but this entry really didn't further the overall story arc except to expound on the abilities of the children, and there was really no chemistry between the H and H, they were just "there". There was way too much time spent on very intricate military jargon and on story telling of a past event of a bar with a crocodile that went on for pages and pages - again - very boring and had nothing to do with this story. The sex scenes were ridiculously drawn out and had no spark at all. I really didn't care about these two characters one way or the other. Azami was like an automaton in her manner and speech, completely without emotion, and Sam was nothing to write home about. I think this series should be wrapped up and Dr. Peter Whitney taken care of once and for all. Really, who is there left to write about as far as couples go? This series started out great but has really gone downhill, and this book put the nail in the coffin for me. I will not be buying further books in this series unless MAYBE a final one which wraps it up, if there ever is one. The same can be said about Ms. Feehan's Carpathian series, which has gone on much too long. After so many books, they are all the same, just with a different H and H. Very few authors can keep a series going this long and still have the storyline be fresh with each book. Ms. Feehan is not one of those authors. Save your money, or spend it on something else.

There are numerous factual errors about Japanese culture in this book. First, Japanese do not adopt outside their families. Orphaned or abandoned children are usually brought up in orphanages as adoption is so rare here. Second, tattoos are forbidden in many places, so only members of criminal groups and gangs have them. Japanese women prize "white" skin and take great pains to ensure their skin is blemish-free. Third, Japanese women do not routinely wear waist-long hair, and when they do, they do not use long pins or sticks for styling. Fourth, Japanese women do not bat their eyelashes and act "demure": they may act reserved according to Western standards, but not in the manner described by this author. Fifth, floating lanterns are for ceremonies to commemorate souls of the deceased, not to mark one's way home. Sixth, Japanese women do not scrub and bathe their partners. Also, baths are for individual use, and the person of lowest rank in the family uses the water last. Seventh, a child abandoned in even one of the toughest neighborhoods in Japan would be reported to the local authorities instead of taken by a stranger. No one can have Japanese citizenship without being legally registered at birth by at least one Japanese birth parent. Eighth, wealthy men would not be walking around in traditional dress in a tough neighborhood. Ninth, cherry blossom scents are usually made by non-Japanese companies, such as The Body Shop.
Fact-checking is important, even for works of fiction.

Having read each book in the series this one is a real let down. Starts fine but quickly devolves into a wikipedia entry on battle strategies and stereotypes of Asian culture. Lackluster sex scenes between charaters with no personalities, only pasts. At onepoint we are reintroduced to every character in the book, even the lead guy! it is as though someone else wrote the battle scenes. Ending is terribly paced, entire plot could have lasted a chapter. Not sure she'll ever be able to match the fervor of Ken and Jack's books. Just give us Violet already!

I'm always excited when I see a new Feehan book is out. I found so much joy in reading her in the past that I know I will always buy her. That being said something went wrong with this book. There was just too much time spent on details that didn't matter and not enough time on the love story or the H and H. I love both Azami and Sam but there was just not enough about their relationship and about them. I don't care about all the fighting ... not the how and the kinds of tools used to kill and so on. Sometimes a little goes a log way. When this book was good it was Really good but when it was bad..... you get the idea. It just went too deep into the fighting and the things readers (who have read all the books) know. A reminder is nice but I don't need the whole story from past books re-told.

Reading this was enjoyable largely becaus of the practical not too STL heroine. I’ve noticed many of her stories in several of her series now seem to border more on horror mixed lots of sex scenes.

I am a long time fan of Christine Feehan's GhostWalker series and have been waiting with bated breath for Samurai Game. This is a paranormal series but the GhostWalker series is not about ghosts. GhostWalkers are a secret group of Super Soldiers created by a brilliant scientist, Dr. Peter Whitney, who ends up going a "little" mad. They are humans born with extra sensory skills who have had their DNA altered, some by choice and some were "adopted" by Dr. Whitney as children and used as experiments. The series is complex and I do suggest reading in order.
In Samurai Game we get Sam and Azami's story. Samurai Game is an interesting, action packed installment of the GhostWalker series. The plot is multi-layered and much more than the blurb implies. I won't go into plot specifics, to do so would definitely spoil certain plot points.
The bond between Sam and Azami is incredibly strong from the beginning and only gets stronger. Azami is fierce a fierce samurai, I would say she is one of the most kick ass heroines I've read. Under all her kick-assness, is a horrible secret and years of abuse. Sam....siggggghhhh, he is on my most perfect, sexy, alpha hero list. He loves Azami from the get go and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect her and make her trust him. Their first kiss.....SWOON!!!!
The emotions run high and are all over the place, fear, despair, love, passion, Samurai Game is a definite emotional roller coaster, I cried a few times while reading it. There is a lot of fighting and military "talk" in Samurai Game, there has to be because of the nature of the plot and the character of Sam and Azami. We get to see previous GhostWalkers, including Rye and Lily and hear about how members of the other GhostWalker teams are doing. I love the razzing and camaraderie of the GhostWalkers, if they were real I would be a groupie. GATOR!!! God how I love that man, his Cajun line of BS and charm is present in Samurai Game. There are some new characters introduced, including Azami's brothers, I hope to see them all in future GhostWalker books.
GhostWalkers is a series I can't get enough of. The last book came out December 2010, and while the wait for Samurai Game was tortuous, it was well worth it! BTW...The cover is beautiful and I am so glad I have it in print.
If you like multi-layered, sexy, romantic suspense with a touch of paranormal, the GhostWalkers is a series you really want to check out.

If you like a book that's 80% flat "FLUFF" then this is the book for you.
But if you want a book that is full of action & Ghostwalker dynamics, this is not a book for you.
The disappointing thing is you read 9 of her previous books and you get so engrossed in Ghostwalkers their enhancements. Their ability to work with each other the situations they get into . And then you come to the Samurai Game. Evidently Cristine has a very warped sense of Asian women because this was off.
So Christine I hope you take all of the criticisms and expectations of your readers into account when you write number 11 and give us a real Ghostwalker book with a lot of Ghostwalker action that we've come to expect from the books we read in this series.

Samuria Game by Christine Feehan was eagerly anticipated by me.While the GhostWalker novels have declined slightly in terms of the earlier books in the series, I still had high hopes for this one. It starts off great as many reviewers have noted. Azami arrives at the Ghost Walker compound to meet Sam Johnson who will escort her for a meet and greet with Ryland and Lily.It is also Sam's job to determine if Azami will be a danger to their son or the safe haven they have created for themselves. Action follows, sexual tension appears and then splat. Literally. The story almost comes to a grinding halt when the hero and heroine are at the compound recovering and trying to figure out the attack they have warded off. Typically this is where Feehan would shine and allow readers to fall in love with the two main characters. Unfortunately, the story starts to lag and old characters pop in to Sam's bedside to reminisce about an old mission, lots of pages of boring speculation. It isnt to darn near the last few chapters that the book picks up again and even then it doesnt live up to the promise that was given in the initial onset of the novel.

I have been anxiously awaiting Samurai Game, the latest book in Christine Feehan's phenomenal Ghostwalker series. I didn't know how this latest installment would compare to last year's outstanding Ruthless Game. No worries here, because Samurai Game was absolutely sublime.
To start out, it was fantastic that the main action and story circled back with Team one again. Ryland Miller's team was my first introduction to the series and these awesome psychic soldiers remain my favorites.
The heroine in this story, Azami, is one of the best female leads that I have ever been introduced to. She is everything that I consider as a heroic figure. Azami is fierce warrior yet maintains her human qualities in being a woman who is devoted to her adopted family, has a clear sense of purpose, and finds the strength to open her arms to love when he comes into her life.
The action is as always exciting and exhilarating and even more so this time around when it's the women defending their home compound against aggression by Dr. Whitney's band of killers while the men are on a mission on another continent.
This was a wonderful read and I highly recommend Samurai Game.

This book pace was dragging. I could not take the repetitive phrases over and over again. And if I have to read about Azami's fluttering, long eyelashes one more time, I am liable to smack somebody.

This is no energizer battery yet the intrigue, mystery and passion that surrounds the Ghostwalkers in their quest to come face to face with the evil Dr. Whitney goes on and on. This is an unforgettable series that snares weary readers into reading book after book in the hope that Whitney's end is near.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series, but after such a long wait, I found this one lacking. I love Feehan's books, and I did like this one, just not as much as I'd hoped to. If you love the Ghostwalker series, you've got to read this one, just know it is not one of the better ones.
I feel there wasn't as much action in this book as was in the previous Ghostwalker books. Too much sex and romance, not enough real action. Don't get me wrong, I like the romance aspect, but I like it mixed with a healthy dose of danger. I felt like the author had to recap everything from prior books, probably because it has been so long since the last one. I also feel the defining of all of the military lingo was just a filler.

I finished Samurai Game and the autor Christine Feehan did another outstanding job.
She portrayed Thorn aka Azami as both vulnerable and a kick ass heroine. She creates such multi dimensional characters, I adore them.
What is also important to me is the great sense of family that is apparant in all of her stories.
Sam was a caring hero but he stood his ground when Thorn thought she was too broken for a relationship.
This book takes us another step closer to taking down Whitney or at least neutralizing him.
I enjoyed the action in this book. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series.

Samurai Game seems too cluttered with the profiles of the Ghostwalker Team and their ops to allow the central characters, Thorn/Azami and Sam, to develop beyond their initial combat pairing in the field. They work apart to foil Dr. Whitney, which makes the action scenes less riveting than in other novels where the paired team capitalizes on their synergistic skills to run an op with the Team as backup.
Although Thorn represents the "traditional" Japanese female warrior according to Feehan, her actions are very Western. Using the call girl as an undercover persona is trite. Many readers have questioned her use of "Sammy" as a private form of address for Sam because it sounds too juvenile. Perhaps it's just a play on words to match Sam with a Samurai. It is odd that Thorn's brothers would carry the special engagement ring with them to hand over to Sam when they are supposed to be working undercover checking out the Team and the compound.

This is a terrific romantic suspense series with a touch of paranormal thrown in. Action! Adventure! Intrigue! Romance! What's not to love? I've waited anxiously for this installment of the GhostWalkers series as I sense a change in the focus. The GhostWalkers are starting to ferret out Whitneys spies and are becoming a more focused and cohesive unit.
In this installment another GhostWalker finds her way to the mountain retreat where some of the GhostWalkers and their families have made their safe-haven. Thorn was thrown away by Whitney at the age of 8 when she was no longer viable for experimentation. He considered her a failure. She was rescued and renamed Azami by a martial arts master who taught her how to defend herself and others. She and her two foster brothers run a high tech communications company which she uses as a front to track down and destroy anyone connected to Whitney. When Lily wants to purchase Azami's companys satellite system Azami has a way in to find out if Lily is still in touch and working for her dad. Along the way Azami meets Sam and the attraction is instantaneous and incendiary.
I totally recommend this for any who enjoys Ms. Feehan and romantic suspense.

As much as I love Christine Feehan and her books, the biggest problem that I have with her is her blatant lack of research on foreign locations. It is truly annoying as this oversight to detail takes away from the story overall. She routinely uses names that don't fit, and land facts that are all off. In this book she has GW team one go into "Congo" on a mission and they're supposed to be 15 clicks from Kinshasa in the heart of the jungle in rebel territory with all this firefighting going on... Excuse me, but Kinshasa is a HUGE city. It's almost as big as New York with a population of more than 9 million people... AND Brazzaville (another big city) is right across the river from it. You'd have to go a lot farther than a few miles out of town to reach pure jungle AND any rebels' stronghold would surely be farther away than a few miles from the capital city. What about suburbs and outlying neighborhoods? You don't just go from the heart of the city to the jungle in one step. Little things like this in her writing drive me NUTS.
Plus, the love interest in the two main characters is between a Japanese woman and an American man of indeterminate race. Sometimes her description hints that Sam is black and other times her description is not clear at all. In either case, with all of Azami's references to her traditional Samurai upbringing, etc. there is a glossing over of the fact that mixed children (any race mixture at all) are looked down upon in Japanese society. This race mixing would have been an issue for her brothers. With their Ghost Walker nature Ms. Feehan could have dealt with that easily in such a way that it wouldn't be heavy and would fit in with the feel and genre of the stories in order to make it more "real."
Other than these two points this book is ok. It's not one of the best in the GW series but it is entertaining. The main characters fall for each other too easily and are not as well-developed as they could have been. The "love" scenes are too drawn-out without evoking any real passion in the reader. For fans of the series, the best thing about this book is the continuation of the Whitney saga. Honestly, I was expecting the next GW book to tell Javier's story. But hopefully next time...

I am a total fan of this series. Sometimes, they almost get a little too nitty gritty for me, but I enjoy the Ghostwalkers too much to quibble. This one is perfect! I think it's the best one so far!! I bought it yesterday afternoon (discount store) and finished it before dark. Lot's of people discussing plot, so I will just tell you, this is one of the best, kick butt heroines ever! Seriously, she rocks! I love martial arts and oriental things, so that may be some influence, but this was still a book that will not disappoint, no matter what your tastes. Can't wait for the next one!!!

My central issue with this book is it can't decide what it wants to be. It starts out as adventure/military fiction, switches to softcore porn, then back to action, though less so. I got the sense she was writing a romance (lonely girl finds her knight) with a military backdrop, which is not what the cover copy promised.
I thought this was the first book of a series, but turns out to be the tenth or something. For that I'll give the author credit, no sense of not knowing the full story, and it's pretty self-contained.
My biggest problem early in the book is the special power of the two main characters. Sam, the male lead, goes into a paragraph or more about how it is impossible, then proceeds to do it. Grr!!! And it didn't add anything to the story, though it did explain how Azami did a few things.
There is far too much exposition in the story. I kept feeling like getting out a red pen and crossing out unnecessary verbiage. She writes the same thing over and over again, especially in Act 2 with Azami inside the compound. And the military jargon is clumsily handled in the mission. I realize she's trying to make sure readers unfamiliar with the phrasing and abbreviations can follow along, but it was done poorly.
There are also contradictions in the story like characters wearing different clothes from one room to the next, the soldiers not doing what they stated they were doing, even the phase of the moon changing.
For the size of the book it is a very small story. The actual mission of the Ghostwalkers is breezed through compared to when we first meet them in the book, which is a shame.

I have the entire Ghostwalker series and I have really enjoyed every book. I was really looking forward to the release of this book. I'm more than half way through it and I'm having a hard time getting into it. I'm listening to it from Audible and the narrator doesn't do female voices well, his voice is very deep. Also, the way he portrays the females makes them sound kind of dumb. He has a great male voice very rich and deep and other than that he's a very good narrator. I'm just having a real hard time caring about the characters this time around. I'll finish it because I normally love this author but...... Well lets just hope it gets better. Sorry Christine I really wanted to love this book. Based on past books I will continue to read Christine Feehan's books because she is normally a GREAT author!

First I want to say Christine Feehan is a favorite author of mine. I really did NOT enjoy giving this book a two star rating. My reasoning is this, the story had a great beginning, like all of her books it drew me right in. I liked Azami`s strength and determination, the fact that she is a samurai was an added bonus. I liked Sam and remember him from other book`s. My main issue with this book is it got flat, it seemed that the middle of the story was just Azami and Sam at his place, trying to get their freak on. I love a good or great sex scene as much as anyone, but, not over a quarter of book and then when she`s calling him "Sammy" during it all I found myself skipping the pages to get through it. With all of her book`s you can feel the love she has for her character`s, sadly I did not get that feeling with this one. I enjoy this series, I have read and reread many of the books, sadly this will not make that list.

Wow. Just like a lot of fans I am kindda numb about this story. Stoked as I was about this book, I felt like that lady in the Wendy's comercial, (Where's the beef?). As usual I was drawn in by the begining plot and from there it fell apart and flat. Christine threw in so many conflicts that were pushed aside for sex. I pray that her muse goes back to Jack's story and revisits us with team 3 or 4.

I'm not real sure, why the negative reviews?
Ms. Feehan always comes thru with a fantastic story!!!!
Now, me personally, I'm not real crazy about anything asian,
not prejudice or anything, just don't like it, but it is a Feehan story
so it is a must read for me!
and she delivers time after time!
love me some Ghostwalkers!!!!
and I love the fact that she does extensive research before writing any of her stories.

The characters are unique from other ghostwalkers but have the same values and honor. Like many, I am a fan of the fast paced, energetic, high intensity ghostwalker characters. I really enjoyed a different approach in these characters though. The characterization is engaging and full of depth in a wholly unique way than earlier characters. This story lends variance and beautifully written and developed new approaches to the same situaions ghostwalkers face. I honestly loved the deviation from the high strung characters to two such different ones. Definitely worth the read!

Christine Feehan delivers another chilling story in the GhostWalker series of revenge and vengeance against the man who tortured her. This fascinating story is action-packed as you ride an emotional roller-coaster ride. Drama and filled with intense suspense as soon as the mission begins. It's a good book, the main characters are awesome and intriguing. The heroine is a great fighter and merciless. The hero is single minded when it comes to getting what he wants and what he needs to do. Altogether, a fast pace action book with romance thrown in.

I really enjoyed reading this story of Thorn and Sam. Although I wish it had a little more action to it as well as more interaction with the other women. I do however love this game series of books by Christine Feehan. Thorn's story of her early childhood is so tragic. We have caught glimpses of her in other books. Sure was nice to know what eventually happened to her and that she finally has her happy ever after. Sam is such a wonderful honorable man too! Loved him.

I'm a fan of the Ghostwalker series but this book left me wanting more. As other folks said, there was more sex than action and I enjoy a good sex scene but even those were long. I just finished a rereading of Night Game and the character development was superior than this one. Hope the next one doesn't take so long and has a better story line. Will try the audiobook next and see if it changes my mind.
