This book is the cornerstone of the philosophy of Thelema which was established by Aleister Crowley and it is essential to anyone who wants to understand Crowley's writings. Simply one of the most important books of esoteric thought.

Great book, and while widely available for free online, I thought it would be worth it to buy the Kindle version, so I could have it synced between my phone and iPad. Unfortunately, this version seems to be missing part of the text. After Chapter 2 verse 68, it skips to chapter 3 verse 30 something. Thought maybe it was a bad download, but I tried downloading again to the same device, and to another device, and still had the same problem. Hopefully this is something that will be fixed.

Thelema: takes its' dramatic and infamous LAW from the ancient sources of The Sumerians, as well as the Book of revelations within the Catholic( Christian) Bible. Clearly and sensuously written, it states a definite rebuttal of the absurd Puritan status Quo, while reveling in esoteric erotic imagery. This IS a living book of Spells, and a clarion call to become through Nature's gifts , a fully evolved Being. {Because every Man or Woman is a Star} Crowley writes with the energy of the great showman of Magic sex and mysticism that he was. Though he is bombastic, I cannot think of anybody who was more fascinating, and more modern for the time he lived in: The most evil man in the world, the"Great Beast" was and is an adoring and passionate soul, with WAY more compassion and beauty within, than the sordid and hateful Christians of this Era. Hailz to Crowley!

Every book should speak to you. What speaks to me may not be for someone else. With that in mind I understood its meaning. There is a message but it could be lost you some people. This is not light reading for entertainment. It is for those who are searching.

This is clearly a book meant for satanic worship. It's eye-opening in understanding some ideas believed by those who worship the devil. It's helpful from a theological viewpoint--for further understanding of the evil that exists.

I was very disappointed with my purchase. It is an incredibly tiny book. I expected something of standard size, not some little pamphlet, especially for the price I paid. If you are looking for something to put on your bookshelf, do not purchase a copy from this listing.

Another "revealed" religion. Written in a quasi-King James English with a Apostle Paul style Schizophrenia rant about god knows what. Every now and again you may find a verse that actually makes sense, but not worth the effort.

The product was improperly described. I was left with the impression that it had printed type in it's entirety rather than being half photocopy of scribbles on notebook paper. Maybe the Thelemites get off on deciphering that illegible scrawl, but I don't. I like to be able to read something instead of spend hours trying tell if that series of scribbles has greater meaning than that other series of scribbles.

Crowley's work has little to do with "hating God" or "being your own god" or "the whirling of the electric void," etc., etc. This is a book of mystic poetry, allegedly dictated to Crowley by a supernatural being of some sort. Like much of Crowley's work, there is sublime beauty here, interspersed with sheer nonsense and the man's obnoxious egotism. However, it is the basis for a great deal of magickal thought and theory. Crowley was obviously a man of insight, and, it must be said, a great magickian, but he was hampered by his need for attention and his addictive nature. All those qualities are here displayed in this book, which is why it draws its share of demented worshippers as well as wise people who can objectively study it to discern his insights. And make no mistake; the book does take study, and thought. It is worth reading, especially for the student of occult thought, but remember to take your extra-large grain of salt with you at all times when venturing into Crowleyland. That being said, the Invocation of Nuit is purely beautiful. Aggravating but profoundly enlightening.

This was the first book by Crowley that I bought, and I have since ended up kicking myself for not reading Crowley sooner. I own the printing in his 'Liber Aba' as well, but this copy also holds Crowley's commentary and introduction. This, I believe, holds the key to fully understanding the text, giving insight to what Crowley interpreted at the time. It also enlightened me to the fact that not all occultists (at least in Crowley's day) were associated with this or that left-wing movement. The end of the intro. makes it clear: socialism in any form is inherently evil and unlawful, since 'do what thou wilt' is just not part of its creed. One will gain new insight to both the terestrial realm and to the greater universe every time the book is read and it is a must for any serious student of the occult.

This is the infamous book which was dictated to Aleister Crowley by the Praetor-Human entity, Aiwass, in Cairo in April 1904, revealing the coming of the New Aeon of Horus, with Aleister as its Prophet. One of its main messages, "Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law", must rank as the most misunderstood, misappropriated and misinterpreted dictums in the history of Occultism. The phrase is directly connected to Crowley's concept of the True Will, which each individual human being must discover for him/herself. The idea is to honestly and objectively pursue this goal until the everyday facade, or persona, that a person wears throughout his/her existence is no longer necessary and may be utterly rejected. One's True Will, Destiny or status thus revealed in the scheme of human existence may be found to contrast sharply with the role one has been unwittingly playing all one's life: in many instances a falsehood imposed upon the individual by the exterior, socio-political and religious forces of societal conformity. This is why Crowley also stated: "The word of Sin is Restriction." He was acutely aware that the true identities and purposes of human beings had been crushed for generations by the Christian Empire. The Book Of The Law stated that this "Old Aeon" was about to be destroyed, and clearly outlined several, unambiguous predictions in respect of the rest of the 20th Century, which overtly manifested in reality. The text not only predicted the rise of Adolf Hitler and the coming of the two world wars, but also the turbulence and chaos of the 1960's, including the emergence of "youth-culture". Curiously, it was towards the end of that same decade that Aleister's own popularity re-emerged and then flourished - big time. As to the Entity responsible for the dictation of the Book, Crowley himself changed his mind several times with regard to the actual identity of Aiwass, equating him with his Holy Guardian Angel on one occasion and later dubbing the Deity "Our Lord The Devil".

The writer (and close friend of Crowley's) Louis Wilkinson accurately stated that the best way to approach The Book Of The Law was for each individual to treat the text as a personal, private and confidential letter, written by Aiwass and for the reader's eyes only. In this way, certain Chapters, Verses or simple lines of text would hold immense significance for that person and the true Magick of the Book would be liberated by the securing of this personal bond between the text and the individual. How a person chose to interpret these significances and act upon them was their business: but it was strongly advisable that the person NOT speak to anybody else about this personal, one-to-one relationship, - or discuss the Book at all - in order to enhance and empower further the personal, Magickal link. This beautifully produced, Centennial Edition of The Book Of The Law - complete with a newly scanned copy of the original, handwritten manuscript and colour plates of the Stele of Revealing - is now sublimely aesthetically suited to such a relationship.

Unfortunately, many of Crowley's self-ordained disciples self-evidently follow a base, ego-powered obsession with "being a Magus", with the overblown conceit, arrogance and pretensiousness in each case serving as the stark, concrete evidence for the aberration. All such expressions of immature, weakling stupidity are supremely contrary to the Law of Thelema. The Book Of The Law speaks not whatsoever to any of the ego-tripping, imbecilic, self-styled, stereotypical Crowley-Clones out there - but is written for the attention of the true Thelemite, the innate Individualist and the congenital Magician.
