First book in a trilogy, with great location, believable characters and exciting plot! A new author to me, but this one is so good , and well written with No grammatical errors, I read the next 2 in the series. Recommend highly.

I quickly purchased this book because it was listed on the same page as the Peter Grainger DC Smith books. I had just finished one and was hungry for another. I thought it was one of his books. My bad. One chapter into the book and I knew it was written by a woman. Even though the author uses initials instead of her full name. The long steamy looks, fluttering hearts and the almost immediate romantic hookup told me I was reading more of a bodice ripper than a detective story. I wish authors would use their full names instead of trying to hide their genders. If I wanted to read a romance detective novel I would have looked for one. Wasted my money, but you live and learn.

I had trouble getting into this, as the coincidences and unlikely events just kept piling up and up, and the solid, chisel jawed Detective Inspector Ryan dragged himself out of his alcoholic misery and bumbled around hunting the criminals. He is aided by Dr Anna Taylor, who happens to be a local left-but-come-back-to-help-out who has a troubled past and turbulent connections with the residents. The whole situation is a conflict of interest and lacked any sense of probity.
Just about every stereotype possible is trotted out in this novel and the underlying premise screams CONSPIRACY THEORY. It's just a crazy novel, with one-dimensional characters and an almost Benny Hill-like approach to apprehending suspects.
Clearly, I didn't like it!
