This book is for a younger audience than myself, however, I found Georges's style replicated exceptionally well, resounded and articulated to all audiences in the manner of not only looking for more but happy to engage similar mysteries. A sensitive and engaging novel for all.

Quite a different subject to what I usually think of as an Elizabeth George work.
The locale and the subject, an auditorally challenged teenager alone on an American island, is quite foreign to me so that alone kept me reading. By the end of the story I am champing at the bit for the sequel.

I have read all of Elizabeth George's novels. They are very well written. This book is actually for teens but it is very good. I enjoyed it a lot. It is fast paced and very good! My daughter also read it and she also enjoyed it.
Well-Schooled in Murder (Inspector Lynley Book 3) :: In Pursuit of the Proper Sinner (Inspector Lynley Book 10) :: Playing for the Ashes (Inspector Lynley Book 7) :: The Eleventh Novel in the Best-Selling Inspector Lynley Mystery Series (Inspector Lynley Mysteries 13) by George :: Believing the Lie 1st (first) edition

I've read almost all of Elizabeth George's mysteries and always hated to see them end. I had a hard time putting this book down until I had finished it and even then was hoping it would go on. I loved her characters and their individual levels of wisdom. I highly recommend this book.

I did not look at the description before I ordered this on my kindle. I am a big fan of Elizabeth George.
My surprise was that "the Edge of Nowhere" was suited for junior readers. And for them probably an excellent read.

I did read the whole book. Many would like it.

The story is nice enough, the plot satisfactory - but it is completely unacceptable to end the book on a cliff hanger. This is not a magazine, and I find it highly unpleasant to let the reader wait a year - or whatever it takes - to know what happens. This is simply not worthy of Elisabeth George.

Elizabeth George has been one of my favorite authors for a long time. I preordered this book with anticipation. She knows how to build characters. However, a writer should not leave the story unfinished. The ending was so disappointing. If Ms. George was hoping I would buy the sequel to find out what happened, she will be as disappointed as I was.

A haunting novel (cliche but true) The story of one person overcoming overwhelming difficulties to finally resolve the issues and we presume after reading the character's life enters a new future tempered by the past.

This book met my expectations of what to receive from Elizabeth George. She delivers a good first of series. I am looking forward to the follow up book. And young adults who love reading will want to read her other works as well.

After reading ALL of Elizabeth George's prior books, this was a great disappointment. Perhaps because I felt misled - did not realize it was book written for very young readers unlike prior books. Also left you in the lurch with no conclusions - I guess hoping you'd look forward to next installment of a bad story. This felt manipulative.

The Edge of Nowhere
I was very disappointed. I have read all of her books and liked them all. This seemed like a very dumbed down version, written without suspense, just klischees. I do not recommend
Karin.

I've read everything Elizabeth George has written and she is one of my favorite authors. I occasionally enjoy young adult fiction (Harry Potter, etc), so I was interested to see that George was trying her hand. I loved this book. I thought the characters were interesting and the plot kept me reading late into the night. I look forward to a sequel.

I was disappointed in reading a book that had nothing in common with other Elizabeth George books.

I found too many unbelievable elements in the story: Becca"s arrival was unexpected and Derric"s "attempted murder" investigation by his own "father ".

Since I love everything Elizabeth George writes, I'm not an objective reviewer. I also live in the state of Washington which is another plus as I recognize some of the setting. That said, this book is touted as a "young reader" selection and I am definitely past that age group. I still enjoyed it but am looking forward to the next "mature reader" selection. I will pass this on to my young reader friends to see if they get hooked on George too.

I had no warning from the store that Elizabeth George's Edge of Nowhere was a Young Adult book and dealt with 14 year olds and their problems. (I was also disappointed because I had looked forward to another Inspector Lynley book.)
