The origins if riyiria continue! We get to meet more of the people who play a big part later and how they got where they did. I've gone back to reread the rest just to find all of the references. Getting better and better

I love this series! Well written and intriguing, hard to put down. The dialogue between the main characters Royce and Hadrian is great. I recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of fantasy or any fiction books.

Excellent reading material. I started and couldn't put it down Moves along with a cracking pace,Draws the reader in with dry humour and twisty plots. I'm a swashbuckling mum and I share all my books with my 30 year sons. They loved these books too.
Rise Of Empire: The Riyria Revelations :: The Crown Tower (The Riyria Chronicles) :: Heir Of Novron: The Riyria Revelations :: Hollow World :: Rise of Empire, Vol. 2 (Riyria Revelations)

I enjoyed this entry to the Riyria series (both revelations and chronicles). Opened up some more back story about the main characters and some side characters we didn't care about before and probably should have.

For the series itself, it's just fun. Don't go into it expecting LOTR. It's not. It's almost like a buddy cop (er...buddy thief?) movie set in a renaissance Europe-ish world except with magic and stuff.

For newcomers to the series it should be an enjoyable read. Having a new adventure for Royce and Hadrian to embark on.

For veterans of the series it will bring joy and knowledge of their history.

Simply put I enjoyed it immensely and couldn't put it down. Thank you Mr. Sullivan for creating such great characters.

Read the entire series in 3 months, including the Revelations. Love this author. Purchased Hollow World and read it in a week. Awesome author, and the books are riveting, will keep you wanting to find out what happens in the next chapter.

Regardless of genre, a well written story has had the ability to keep me burning the midnight oil until long past the time that more sensible people turn in and go to bed. When I was young it was authors such as Tolkein, Lewis, and Salvatore which kept me captivated until long past the witching hour. Now that I am older it is authors like Rothfuss, Martin, Butcher, King, Sanderson, and too many to name. Sullivan is one of the new breed. He seems to possess that most amazing of abilities. Like all of the "greats" Sullivan has managed to transport me mentally to landscapes which I could almost picture from his prose. A great read, and one you may not want to miss.

Once again Michael Sullivan does a terrific job. The Riyria Chronicles is one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. Michael Sullivan manages to tell stories within a story to keep every book in this series interesting. Well done!

I have been a fan of the Riyria Revelation Series for its light humor, fast pace, intricate stories interwoven into the books and the ongoing unfolding mysteries of each main character. I can't help like the Chronicles as it is another extension into the same world and characters. However, Royce is portrayed as a seriously disturbed, ruthless serial killer. I am having a very hard time reconciling this Royce with the Royce that will emerged in later timelines. He is evil. If you are close to the characters like myself, I am disappointed in the gruesome murders conducted by Royce. Hopefully, he goes through some miraculous redemption!

Like a fine dining experience, Mr. Sullivan serves us exquisite stories in the form of Riyria. The characters are tasty, the story worthy of every bite. If I had a complaint, I would say that the experience passed too quickly, and the hunger for the next course has me salivating. I don't do synopsis. Giving general overviews would ruin the experience. I only give the highest praise I can: BUY THIS BOOK. In fact, start at the beginning and buy everything Mr. Sullivan writes. And leave a large tip; it's worth it.

He has done it again. For those who love Hadrian and Royce, you won't be disappointed with this one. The Rose and the Thorn gives us more insight into the beginnings of Riyria. Absolutely loved it! I hope there will be more to follow!

I really enjoyed this book. It shows the continuing growth of the relationship between Royce and Hadrian, and keeps the story going. I hope Mr. Sullivan keeps adding to the series. I can't wait to read the next one.
