I am beyond hooked on this series. Any free moment I have I have to read more to see what Alex and his friends are up too. This too me is a dark Harry Potter. I say that because it's just not the happy go lucky magic is good saves the day type story.
It's magic but it's real life too. People aren't always good and magic can be dangerous just like anything else. So I like that it gives them free magical range to learn but I like that it's taught to be used in everyday situation if needed.
I really enjoyed figuring out the puzzle with Alex. Throughout the story I kept saying "come on Alex you have all the piece put it together now" i root for him. He's such a smart character and I really enjoy watching him grow. I feel pain when he's sad. He's just such a great leader. Not really a hero in a sense but just more the image of hope when there is no hope.
And as the books hit their climax forget about anything else. Page after page I get sucked in biting my finger nails in suspense. Seeing Alex finally putting things in place and watching him grow as a character. All of them. I just love how their friendships work. The annoying mysterious secrets everyone keeps. I get so frustrated at times when Alex is too. Feeling what he feels for his friends.
Overall great book super addicting. Easy page turner sucks you right in from where the first one left off and just right into it. Buying the third one right after I write this and I'm super excited! The only part that I have some confusion with sometimes is the layout of the library. Two books now and for some reason I have a hard time envisioning the towers.

Bella Forrest quickly became one of my favorite authors as I discovered firstly "The Shade" series and then her independent writings. The Spellshadow Manor series does not disappoint. Ms. Forrest's books are so easy to read and get pulled into. This lady knows how to write and how to keep her audience pulled into the story lines. All her books are a fun read and also become very addictive. This series continues to showcase her talent in writing about the supernatural and let's admit it ... we all have a secret interest in supernatural and whether it exists or not .. who cares ... it's pure reading entertainment and book 2 in the Spellshadow Manor series continues in this vein. Love, love, love it!!

Like always, Bella Forrest has delivered. Kid's from all over are put in trance's and kidnapped, brought to Spell shadow Manor.
Little did the Head of the Manor know but there is many who have waited for the day of rebellion. The kid's have escaped from Spellshadow Manor, only to find themselves out to a unknown place. If you like a little magic and mystery, there's plenty to keep you happy. Happy reading!

Life magic, death magic, a combination? So much still left to unravel in this story. Spellshadow Manor has taken a hit. The uprising of the students was detrimental to the Head's plan, but what is his plan. All we know is "the void must be filled", however what we don't know is what this void is, what the Head's plan is or the enigma of Elias.
Zach, Natalie, Jari, Ellabelle and even Aamir have escaped Spellshadow, but where did they end up and what happens next? We shal see...

I have recommended this series to friends because it's a fun read. I love the setting of the series, a dark mansion with hallways that are constantly changing. The characters are great, even the ones that you know you are supposed to hate are well fleshed out. And it ends on a major cliffhanger, so be prepared! :)

I cannot say enough good things. Bella Forrest has is a talented author, easily weaving worlds that capture and excite all the while cleverly developing believable, endearing characters that creates the while package. Teleport into a fantastic New world with any of her series, you won't regret it.

This story moved quickly and I enjoyed getting to know the characters better. Knowing more about their background and family might help in understanding the motivation of certain characters. But, overall a fun and satisfying read!

So much suspense in this one as Alex struggles to both hide and strengthen his anti-magic. Didn't even consider what was revealed about the Head could be possible. Really hope we get more answers about him in the next book.

I'm enjoying these books and look forward to learning more about the history of the lands and the magic and anti magic people as I download book 3. So many questions yet to be answered including where did Alex get his anti magic skills if his race was so heartlessly eradicated from existence so long ago??? The series remind me of the Percy Jackson tales I enjoyed reading with my grandson!!!

Terribly written. Boring book. Characters are boring. Painful reading this. There is no action up until the last few pages and then it leaves off in a predictable cliffhanger for the next book....don't waste your time!

An engaging but short read. Story ends in a cliffhanger which was irritating since both released books are very short. I would recommend waiting until the third book is released and reading them all at once. The three books combined should be about the length of an ordinary novel. ?

The series started out rather slowly for the first few chapters but became much better. the store advertised as comparable to Harry Potter and they are correct. Different story but same caliber. These would also make great movies.

it is so original and different in its storyline. Imagine a magic school that steal magic students and keeps them there against their will until graduation. LOVED this BOOK! If you like unusual and different, this is your book.

I started reading this series while waiting for the Shade of Vampire saga to continue and was hooked by the end of the first chapter! It's a nice break from vampires and supernaturals of the Shade. Overall storyline is interesting though some parts drag a bit. Still worth reading if you're into magic.

Everything was spelled out as if the reader were unable to draw conclusions or even follow the story. I gound it borderline painful to read it.
The characters are under-developed and uninteresting, with no memorable qualities.
Note: making something opposite with the same process is mind-numbing... spells of anti-magic, it just didn't make sense enough to work for me.
