Loved these books especially since they were a free purchase on the store. The books kept me going and were a great read all the way until the end where the ending was a tad disappointing. There is a second set but they unfortunately go over a different character than the main one within this story line.

Really enjoyed this series. Easy to read and follow. Characters are interesting and keeps you anticipating the next move. Author doesn't belabor battle scenes and the good guy wins somewhat. Will definitely continue with this journey with Kristina Alva.

Quite superficial. Even though the story has some great elements and characters, it races through the events. The author should/ could have taken more time to elaborate, organiseren decreased the number of events. Ik stoppen reading after book 2
Dragonflight (Dragonriders of Pern - Volume 1) :: Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes) :: The Unbearable Lightness of Scones (44 Scotland Street Series) :: Book 6 - In The Company Of Cheerful Ladies - The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency :: Dragon Rider

The world this series paints is interesting, albeit not original in any significant way (borrows very heavily from elements of Eragon and other related novels).
Writing style is very simple and gets boring quickly. Poor character development, largely predictable storyline, and most pivotal events are quite anti-climactic when reading.
I noticed after buying/reading that it's in the children's fantasy category, which is the one appropriate audience for this series. Anyone over middle school age would probably not like this. Wish I had seen the category earlier and avoided.

This is a tale of the prophesied boy, Elias, with magical powers from a small village. He discovers a dragon stone and is hunted by an evil emperor. The story has elements that have been seen before: dragon, elf, dwarf however it is mixed with new and interesting creations like the necromancers. The backdrop of a simple village where Elias is living in a dark time, being poverty stricken was well depicted. His grandma was his one and only family. She was his guide but she hid her true magical powers. The story would have benefited if both the characters were developed substantially more. This is a simple story but it is fast paced and keeps you turning pages to find what happened next. Book 1: Dragon Stones is however, pretty short.
The end of book one offers some nice surprises which also kept me going on to Book 2: Return of the Dragon Riders. While we have yet to meet the evil emperor Vosper, more about Elias’s parentage is revealed to the readers. Thorin, Elias’s halfling friend from Book 1, is still around providing advice, support, and the occasional comedic relief. There’s plenty of action in this novel and it is well-paced. I like that the point of view shifts around and we get to spend time away from Elias. Elias is a well-meaning teen who wants to think the best of nearly everyone. Many of the other characters are not so trusting. In fact, there is a hidden traitor among them, which adds suspense to the story.
Book 3: Vosper’s Revenge, is an excellent ending to this saga! There is more action, mystery and magic. The evil Emperor Vosper and his forces are stronger and more wicked than ever and their opposition to the Riders and the land of Durn comes to an action packed conclusion. I really enjoyed the strengthening bond between Elias and his dragon, Nydiered. Their story is sweet and warms the heart. The end of the book seemed rushed. The battle between Vosper and Elias seemed almost anticlimactic. I would have also enjoyed a more detailed account of the after effect of the war, as well as what happened to the characters. However, the book was still a decent conclusion to the series.

Although the story itself is engaging- the writing is rudimentary. I often wondered at the age of the author- is she in Jr. HS? Now, to be fair it was probably written for a younger audience and perhaps a younger reader wouldn't notice and would be fully engaged. So, if you're an adult reader and you enjoy authors like Tolkin- or even Mercades Lackey, or Katherine Kerr.... you might want to pass on this one unless you're a speed reader and can take in the trilogy in under an hour.

The underlying story is good, but the writing lacked a bit of depth. It felt like the author thought most of the story had to be related through dialogue. So, most elements and answers were supplied immediately in conversation between characters. There were rare descriptions of the environment, characters, or thoughts which left the story feeling a bit rushed. I did enjoy the story itself; I just didn't feel as involved with the characters or the world.

Gripping and interesting story lines. Good amount of suspense. Adore all the characters. I never felt the characters would be safe from harm or death. There is a lot of pain but also a lot of hope. I loved this trilogy very much and will continue the saga.

Absolutely love this series. Kristian Alva is a masterful writer creating a storyline that enchanted me. I could not put the books down.
Looking forward to the next book - hopefully coming out this year.

I like the fact that the books continued without interuption and the story continued without a synopsis of what had happened. I liked the story with action and interest. It was full of excitement keeping me attentive and awake and wanting to finish the sorry in one sitting. I would recommend this to anyone.
