I received a Kindle Fire for Christmas and this is the first book I purchased. I like James Patterson as an author and I wanted my first book to be a book I would enjoy. I haven't finished it but I know Alex Cross will solve the crime.

The Third Excellent Book (# 3) from Alex Cross Series by James Patterson. This book follows the "Kiss The Girls" book in the Chronological Series with the Private Forensic Psychologist, Alex Cross, and precedes "Cat & Mouse" book. Start to Finish an Excellent Read!

Our Christmas theme, a family tradition was "jack frost" this year. Our gift exchange had to include "jack" and be less than $10.00. I chose this book for my sister. She was surprised and very pleased.

I would recommend this book if you like mysteries.....all James Patterson books are great. Haven't not liked any yet. Am new to this author...but have loved them all. Took to the beach for a week vacation...finished in 3 days and had to buy another.

I love James Patterson and his Alex Cross books. I read a few later ones first and now am going back and reading from the start. This book is thrilling with an unexpected ending. My best friend read it before me and re-read the ending twice again with me. Great book if you love mysteries!!

The Ugly: You know what made Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider good? It was the fact that, yes Cross is a homicide detective, but he never really got involved all the D.C. hoopla. This one just had a tone of espionage to it. Now that was a drastic change from the first two books. If I wanted espionage books I would read espionage books. But I wanted a good murder mystery, and I got more spy crap than mystery. And that brings me to the bad.
The Bad: Way too many villains in this story. Way, way too man. It’s fine if someone is working two murder cases in one story, but the fact that one of those murder cases had three people conducting the murders was insane. Honestly, I found it hard to keep up with the people who were conducting the espionage murders. The child murders was hard to keep track of as well, but once Patterson spelled it out (I think he did that because he was losing track) it all came together. I love going by a saying: K.I.S.S. – Keep It Simple Stupid. There was nothing simple about this book. Too much going on.
The Good: The best part about this book is the fact that Cross becomes more realistic. He is a man who is continually grieving from the death of his wife. He is also someone who can’t seem to hold down any relationship with someone of the other sex due to the loss of his wife. He seemed to find a kindred spirit in this book, but he couldn’t do anything about it. She was married. The part that made him so common was that he knew he shouldn’t be feeling the way he does, but he can’t help it. Especially since his son liked her so much as well.
Final Thoughts: Even with the fact that Patterson brought Cross down to earth, I still can’t say this is a good book. The Ugly and the Bad just ruined this book for me. Use the kiss acronym and maybe this could have better. It was really hard for me to get into this book. I just can’t say this is a good, or even decent, book.
