This has been one of my favorite yet from Kresley Cole! This woman knows how to tell a story. I couldn't put it down from the day I picked it up. The way she was able to intertwine 4 past lifes into a wonderful love story with the 5th reincarnation, amazing! I would recommend this book to anyone, although for the full enjoyment from this book you should start at the first book in this series. They are all extremely well written, I am already looking forward to the next book!

Upon reading Demon from the Dark, I flat out didn't want to like Declan. Even Regin was good for a laugh, but never a character I attached myself to. So I felt disheartened when I knew Dreams of a Dark Warrior was the Regin/Declan story. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised! Cole wrote a dark, torturous, and in the end, heartwarming treat from start to finish--one that I couldn't put down.
No longer the perpetually fierce, impenetrable jokester (well, not all the time), we got to meet the real Regin: loyal, tender, grieving. Cole gave Regin so much depth, and her heart-wrenching history with Aidan the Fierce and his reincarnates would tug at any woman's heart. Declan Chase captivated as well. I continued to ask throughout the read "how can Cole truly pull this off--create a plot where this horrific man truly atones for all he's done." **Spoiler** The vivisection scene was brutally agonizing, yet so thoroughly effective at creating that insurmountable conflict. Although, it often felt like there was no way forgiveness could be found, Cole accomplished this feat. Great Read!! Bring on Lothaire's story... I can't wait to see what Cole has up her sleeve for that Vamp.

I have been reading Kresley Cole for about three years now and I have to say that this book has given me hope. The three before this one was so-so and her earlier books were the best (me being a Sebastian fan:]). However, this book although not five stars, is still good but for a different reason.
In Kresley's first books, there was an element of finding your mate and trying to romance them with some side action. The side action namely the Horde Vamps plus the Hie added an element of action that blended with the couple's romance. However, lately it seems that the action is overwhelming the romance which leaves the reader thinking "is this really a happy ending?"
But DoaDW has given me renewed hope about more romance going back in the IAD series. Although there is still an overwhelming amount of action, Kresley did address the romance part of the book. It showed more about Regin and Declan's love or make-up, whatever you want to call it.
The synopsis is pretty much this:
Regin the Radiant is a thousand year old Valkyrie that acts like she's still twenty. However, her pranks mask her pain of losing her mate FOUR times. Every two hundred years or so, her mate comes back reincarnated, but once he remembers their love, he ends up dying and the cycle repeats itself. This time her mate comes in the form of an immortal hating, scarred inside and out guy named Declan Chase. Chase runs a facility where they capture immortals to experiment with them to find their weaknesses and then kill them. But for some reason, he remembers Regin, but he doesn't know why, since obviously he's never met her before (so he thinks:]).
Their love story is a turbulent one, but it was great that they could finally make up and it was nice to see a truly happy Regin. DoaDW seems to be returning to its predecessor's previous pattern of love over action, not the other way around.

Dreams of a Dark Warrior by Kresley Cole starts off a thousand years ago with a twelve year old Regin the Radiant meeting Aidin the Fierce which sets the background of how their love-affair began. Then, the story flashes to present day New Orleans and is occurring in tandem to the last installment of the Immortal After Dark book that featured Carrow and Callum.
The conflict in the story begins very quickly which has my heart twisting and remains as such until the last third of the book. Delcan Chase, the commander of the Order, along with some of his soldiers have rounded-up Regin to take her to confinement with the other Lore folk that have been previously captured in an installment on an island where the majority of the novel takes place.
The happily ever after for this hero and heroine does not come easily. However, Ms. Cole does a superb job of staying true to the characters we all know and love so well. The author also introduces us to a few new characters that draw you in and thereby win your heart.
The Valkyrie and witch humor is very much alive and well. Because of the sense of humor peppered through out the story and the loyalty of the characters to each other, I was able to keep reading the story without having to put the book down when I grew very frustrated with some of the situations in the story line.
Bottom line is Kresley Cole delivers another outstanding novel in her IAD series. She is able to illicit laughter, frustration, love, and a myriad of other emotions throughout the entirety of this story. Her ability to hook you into her world and not let go until the very end is uncanny.

Kresley Cole presents an imaginative take on well known immortal creatures and weaves a world of intersecting lives and loves that are pleasing and entertaining. The stories are well written and the plots and story lines flow well throughout the series.

I have always wanted to find out more about Regin. If you have read the previous books, you will know what I am talking about. It's a very beautiful life-after-death-after-death-after-death, and so on story.
The book starts with Regin meeting her "Mate", Aidan. This is like a short story in itself. The rest of the book is about how Regin meets the latest re-incarnation of ther Berserker "mate", Declan.
Thanks to Kresley Cole's writing capabilities and her consistency with character development throughout her series, Declan makes a smooth transition from zero to hero for us. It was so well-written that at times I thought that Regin was too stupid to be as ancient as she was written to be.
I am already looking forward to more books in the series - hopefully featuring Brandr, Natalya, & Nix the Ever-Knowing. I know I am not alone in this. There is a HUGE following of this Demon, Vampire, Valkyrie, Witch, Scorceri, & Werewolf series. New Orleans never looked so appealing a place to visit!

Dreams of a Dark Warrior is the latest in Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark Series. In this romantic paranormal tale we find out Regin the Radiant's mate is Aiden the Fierce. Aiden the Fierce is a Berserker, given to extraordinary bits of rage that allow him feats of speed and strength. From the beginning, Regin and Aiden are cursed and Aiden is doomed to spend eternity being reincarnated - always dying an auspicious death directly after learning of his past lives. In his current life, Aiden is Declan Chase - immortal hunter and killer. Declan Chase works for the Order - a secret sect devoted to the annihilation of Loreans and has recently acquired a new subject for his facility - Regin the Radiant. Delcan's very world begins to unravel when he must fight the desire that Regin brings to his cold soul. Now Declan and Regin are pitted against each other - something that has never occured in his past lives.
Will he fight his desire for the immortal Valkyrie?
I was not disappointed with this book at all! While Regin as a character is def not my favorite I loved how Cole gave alot of backstory to previous couples. And I def was not disappoint in learning Lothaire has a Bride...and I absolutely cannot wait for his book to come out! I really enjoyed the lack of sexual tension or sex being a motivating plot line in this story. I think it really added to her series and allowed Cole to flesh out the characters.

I loved almost every book in this series. This is one that I did not like very much. The story had promise, but there is no way that I could believe anyone would want a relationship with a person who was responsible for them being eviscerated. Her original love was so beautiful and I loved that character so much that I simply felt that she was settling for this abusive creep who ran Hitler-type experiments on people with no remorse. I simply hated him and wished desperately that she could have her original guy back instead. I have loved this series for years, but wish I had skipped this one.

As expected this was another great read from cole. still it wasn't my favorite of the series. #3 is... andyway. the book arrived several days ahead of schedule in great condition. I got it used and i have found that all of the books i have got used are still in great condition. I do hope they come out in hard cover sometime. moving paper backs can be taxing on the books.

I disagree with all the reviewers who said there was too much back log that happened in previous books. Sure we knew Regain was captured and by who but lets face it we didnt know all the details and what happened in that time. I loved the past sections that told of thier meeting and the different bodies Adian had taken. I felt that it added a strength to the book that normally most authors lack. I love Cole's books every single one she has published. Dreams of a dark warrior was no exception to that rule. I seriously hope that this wont be last of this series. Thanks for a great addition.

LOVED this book and the characters! By far the most complex and captivating couple in the series. Declan is polarizing, but his darkness is the perfect contrast to Regin's spunk and vivacity. A must read!

Kresley Cole's Immortals after Dark series is fantastic. She has created this amazng, mystical world of "Lore" which any person would dream to be part of. This specific book is my favourate as Regin is the most thrilling character created by Kresley. I cannot fault this book.

Regin the Radiant's story is finally here, and her fated love interest is a berserker named Aiden who's doomed to die and be reincarnated over and over. This time around, he's a rotten creep named Declan Chase, who's a leader in an underground movement to destroy all beings of the Lore. He's so callous, dishonorable and vile, that he make's Lothaire, the Enemy of Old, look like a romantic hero. He has captured Regin and imprisoned her, with hundreds of other lore beings, in a prison on an island that is cloaked by some kind of magic so they can't be found. While imprisoned, they are tortured until they yield whatever secrets of the lore they know, and are allowed to die of neglect or abuse when they aren't useful. They are often vivisected while conscious, and then stapled together without any drugs for pain. In the last book, readers may remember that the witch, Carrow, was captured together with her 7 year old cousin after the little girl's mother was killed during the capture. Carrow was threatened with the little girl's abuse or death if she didn't follow instructions. With all this in mind, it is impossible to understand how Regin can have any positive feeling for this monster, in spite of past reincarnations. It is obvious these two will eventually get together, but why would they? Declan's attraction to Regin grows every time he sees her, but his change of heart happens too quickly to be convincing, and the possibility of Regin forgiving him seems beyond belief. Obviously, the rest of her allies and friends would have to forgive him too for them to be able to successfully get together, but WHY SHOULD THEY? REALLY? He does very little to earn forgiveness, and there's nothing at all decent or admirable about him. The romance didn't deserve more than 1 star, but the other characters were wonderful, and even under these dire circumstances the verbal give and take often made me LOL, so I gave the book 3 stars. It's worth reading for the advancement in the series plot as well as the development of new characters. I'm glad I read it, but the romance left me disgusted. Maybe in future books Cole can have him do something worthwhile, so I can see some redemption for this relationship?

I always look forward to Kresley Cole's books. Not because they are well written with great characters - which they are and do have! But because I know it is the funniest book I will read to date. She is a truly gifted writer with the ability to create a world you get completely lost in. Her books are wonderfully humorous, fun, and have great plots and stories.
This book is no exception. It is the best yet in a series that I love. Highly recommended.

I'm amazed at the quality of entertainment Kresley Cole delivers story after story. In the previous books, we've seen Regin, seeming to cause trouble wherever she goes. So even knowing ahead of time based on the previous stories she was to reunite with Aidan the Fierce (berserker that keeps reincarnating to get to Regin) I wondered what kind of man she would be paired with when her story came along. I wasn't sure about the character of Declan Chase at first. It's hard to love a hero who has gone along with torturing innocents (well, most of them are millennium aged members of the Lore, but still it counts). However, I felt he had redeemed himself by the end and gave us a story that is as good as any of them!
I want to add, Kresley Cole sticks to what makes her books standout, attention to details, super hot members of the Lore, and enough of a conflict to feel it's good to see the characters end up together. If you've enjoyed the others in Immortals After Dark Series, this book is a must read. If this is your first time to read one of hers, I would try to read them in order if possible. Each book is strong enough to stand on it's own but knowing the history behind things really adds to the storyline.

I loved this book, and the Regin's character. The author sends you on a adventure with every book she writes and
I like how the story blends in with the other characters with the previous books. Even though this book was just released I can't wait for her next one and hope it's a story about Nix.

Too much of what happened was in the previous book so there was no progression with the overall story line. I wasn't a big fan of Declan... I love the tortured hero thing... but I didn't find him to be that redeemable in the end.

I'm a little confused with the bad reviews. Had those people not read one of KC's books before? Almost all of her relationships have had difficult beginnings but have overcome those trials to become a love to last a lifetime. I certainly hope that KC keeps up the good work and I can't wait to see more from her.
