If you are a Terry Pratchett fan, then "Crivens!!" is all you need to know.

If you don't like Terry Pratchett, I can't help you.

If you have never read Terry Pratchett, but you like your fantasy novels written in a way that simultaneously entertains and satirizes modern society, you might want to check out his works.

I've read Terry Pratchett's Diskworld books since the began appearing on the left side of the pond. Wee Free Men is the first one in ages that made me heart swell and the tears flow like the first few Wyrd Sisters books did.
Strongly recommended.

STP never failed to capture his readers' imaginations. Great read for any age, whether reading to the children at night, gifting to a young reader, or for us full-blown adults. Captivating, fun, intense.... a great story for all.
A Blink of the Screen: Collected Shorter Fiction :: Dragons of Summer Flame :: Raistlin Chronicles, Book 2 - Brothers In Arms :: Raistlin Chronicles, Book 1 - The Soulforge :: The Shepherd's Crown (Discworld 41) by Terry Pratchett (2015-08-27)

I'm reading this aloud to my Seventh Grade class. We are about 3/4 through, and it's wonderful. SUCH a great read aloud. Note of caution: If you'ree not a strong read aloud-er, know that a lot of dialogue is written in a Scottish Brogue. This makes it FANTASTIC! But, also makes it a more advanced read-aloud.

This is the forth book from the Discworld series that I've read, and it fits along side the others just fine. It's an easy to read book, and fun and whimsical enough to keep me reading. Recommended if you want a break from other more thought-provoking books, or also if you just really like the Discworld books!

I have loved Terry Pratchett's novels since being introduced to them back in the late '90s and buy them as they come out. These are more "young adult" in complexity than his other Diskworld novels but wonderful stories nonetheless.

Other reviews go through more of the plot, but I would have loved these at age 12. A great purchase for the fantasy lover!

I am a latecomer to the Discworld having just discovered Terry's body of work less than a year ago. Since then, I've knocked out about 20 of this series of books, and I have a friend who waits right behind me ready to snatch up each book I finish.

While "The Wee Free Men" is one of the most recent additions to Mr. Pratchett's witch-focused Discworld story line, it nevertheless delivers the same wit, laughs, and plot twists of its predecessors. Of course, it does it with a slight twist with the introduction of the Nac Mac Feegle pictsie clan. I kept turning the pages looking forward to their next set of dialogue and antics. I would love to party with these guys!

Give this volume a shot and you won't be disappointed. It's a quick and hysterical romp across the Chalk.

This is the first in the Tiffany Aching stories, you can enjoy the rest with out reading this one but you will be missing alot. Miss Aching is 9 years old when she decides to become a witch, and with out knowing any magic she goes into the land of the elves, with only a frying pan, to save her little brother from the queen of the elves. Loved it. (the Feegle's help alot)

I have always adored Terry Pratchett, but the Wee Free Men series is one of my particular favorites! I love following Tiffany Aching on her discovery as a witch and spending a few hours with those terrible thieves who believe that this world is heaven and will drink anything that doesn't spontaneously burst into flames when it hits the air!

Timeless. Perceptive. Another author I'm in love with now. Why haven't I read any of his work before.

Oh and a girl main character and my 10 year old son is just as invested in the story as I am.

Love Terry Pratchett. And especially love the Tiffany Achen series. the Nac Mac Feegles arae brilliant and love the fact that you have to read their voice with an accent. Makes the book come alive all the more. So great to have a strong female protagonist. How did this not become a major hit like that other silly boy who does magic?

Great book for girls and boys alike but especially for little inquisitive and assertive little girls. My children think the Nac Mac Feegles are hilarious and are always thrilled when Tiffany faces down the monsters.

I really like all of Terry Pratchett's Discworld (fantasy) books, including this one. You will best enjoy reading them in the order published, but they're good on their own. They have a unique, fey humor: I expect you will like all or none, so if they're new to you, get just one to begin with.

This book is an Imaginatively written fantasy with an enjoyable use of both real and unreal language. The scenery and characters are vividly envisioned bringing them to touchable life. It is with much anticipation I look forward to reading more about young Tifan and her newly awarded hat.

A great start to a great series. Terry Pratchett continues to amaze me in his ability to speak with a convincing voice for a broad range of characters, in this case a young heroine, as opposed to a grizzled old police chief.

Already a devoted Terry Pratchett reader, this was a wonderful addition to my collection. I already had the book and CD, but could not resist having this as well. I'm sharing this copy with friends who have children, although I was almost hesitant about letting it out of my sight. Wonderfully done pictures that capture the essence of the book.

Disneyworld is an amazing place to get lost in. The characters are people you may know in real life( except for the magical) Pratchett's skill in developing these images is amazing! May his daughter do justice to the continuing saga.

This is Pratchett near his top form! I always enjoy stories that involve the witches Tiffany, Granny Ogg and Mrs. Weatherwax and when he mixes in the antics of the Wee Free Men, the stories become even more delightful.

Terry Pratchett is a man who loves his daughter. You can tell because he writes a book for intelligent little girls in which the girl is ENTIRELY BELIEVABLE. Forget Alice and Dorothy; Tiffany Aching is the real deal.

Crivens!! This is probably one of the funniest books that I have ever read. I had a paperback one that was passed arounf my office and I gave another away and everbody loves it. I do have a copy of most of Terry Pratchett's books.

Tiffany Aching is my hero(ine). She is spunky and fearless and inventive. She faces monsters and unknown worlds and little tiny Pictsies and does it all with courage. And she's only 9 years old!! I love the whole series, but this one is my favorite.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every book i have read so far by Terry Pratchett. He plays on words better than Kenny G plays a sax, but this book had me laughing so hard and was sooooo funny, it is worth every second and one i'm sure i'll be reading again.

Magic and the world of witchcraft was never so vividly and wonderfully painted by anyone else. This book perfectly gives the reader a taste of Prachetts amazing way of making magic seem very believable.

This book is filled with surreal imagery and mind bending plot twists. A great read with no prior knowledge of the discworld required.

This is about learning what you are and where you belong. It's about magic and dreams and sheep.

And I forgot to mention the Wee Men. One of Pratchett's most entertaining creations.

Love the dialog of the Nac Mac Feegles and Tiffany too, of course.

Anyone familiar with Pratchett's Diskworld will love this look at the Chalk and it's inhabitants. An easy, breezy read. Highly recommend.

I am a long standing Terry Pratchett fan, and, like many of his fans, I am of the opinion that even a mediocre Pratchett book is better than a lot of other books I have read. This book, however, is one of his best. I am no longer a young adult, but I like this book more than many of his adult novels. The story line is tight, the writing is witty, and the take home message is positive. I will definitely be sharing this book with my daughters when they get a little older.

Terry Pratchett never disappoints. This might be meant as a children's book, but I'm 59 and I loved it! You care about the heroine, you love the wee free men, there's humor and sarcasm, it's just great stuff.

I absolutely tore through this series. I actually didn't realized it was geared towards "young adults" until after I purchased the first book. However, mush like the Harry Potter series, it is an outstanding read for adults as well. While it's not my favorite Pratchett book, the entire series was well done, with great characters that you wanted to see grow. Definitely recommended!
