Learned so much about the brain, and the effects that toxins, medications, stress can have on the brain. Forgetfulness is not a sign of aging and can be reversed or slowed through diet, antioxidants, and supplements. Tests to ask my doctor to perform, so that I know my homocysteine level. The effects of glutothian in treating Parkinson's disease. How to help people with stroke, ALS, Parkinson's and Alzheimers. Parkinson's disease is not a brain issue, but a liver issu that affects the brain. A great book that I would recommend to anyone. I have so many notes. A good reference to refer to time and again.

Offers genius insight and solutions to brain health no matter your given circumstances. A must read if you or someone in your family has dementia, and to maintain your sharpness. I purchased 3 for gifts and they loved it!

This is a very easy read. The info is straightforward, to the point and not laced with long stories to support the point. Whether he's correct or not I cannot say; however, he makes consistent points with many others in science about the poor eating habits we have and the detrimental results. Others talk general health, heart health or diabetes etc whereas this book speaks directly the effects on the brain itself.

Excellent, informative and up-to-date, a must-read for anyone interested in healthier lifestyle and nutrition. Sort of consolidates and updates everything I've read on nutrition thus far...I bought this book as a present for several family members as well. I'm about to re-read. I appreciate that he's able to explain things understandably enough for a layman. I also like the part on what to eat to support your microbiome, coupled with recipes. Though I'm not planning to make the recipes any time soon, when I do have the time, I know where to turn. I have read Dr. Perlmutter's previous book, also great, and have made several adjustments in my nutrition and lifestyle based on it - this one goes one step further at a time I'm ready to do so as well.

Although there were many interesting facts, to me, they seemed to be the old repeats. Yes, there were new facts to be of help, but, it was not a compelling read. I do enjoy reading facts about improving our brains. This book will be donated to our library!

My husband is suffering Dementia and we are doing everything and anything to help prevent Alzheimer. "The Better Brain Book" was recommended to us by our Chiropractor. The author of this book, Dr. David Perlmutter, M.D. provides all the tools needed for rejuvenating the mind. His program is complete: how to protect the brain if taking drugs; what vitamins & supplements are beneficial for brain repair; toxins in the home that can effect mental function; lab tests or at-home tests to reveal how fast your brain is aging; how to change ones lifestyle to improve brain performance; which foods can help your brain; and what program is indivually right for you. The book also includes nutritional recipes.

We are finding a new experience in each page of this very informative book and I am in great hopes that my husband will regain short-term memory by following Dr. Perlmutter's program.

Dr. Perlmutter is a board-certified neurologist and yet he writes in language we can all understand. If you really follow what he says, it works! And it is not a difficult plan to implement. So get the book, don't let it sit around and get dusty, read it, do it! "Try it, you'll like it!"

I think the most influential power of this book's information is the synthesis of science and spirituality (not religion). It is very insightful. And the information about supplements, etc., very helpful.

I am a Naturopath, Nutritionist, Registered Nurse and have been teaching wellness for over 25 years. I have read much of the research that Dr. David Permutter has proven in this book, not only the research but the clinical subjective work he has done and I am thrilled. I have also taught much of the information in my workshops and seminars.

His statement and his clinical work about Cholesterol and the Statin drugs MUST BE HEARD by the medical field. It is something that has alarmed me for many years. The research is out and too many of the MD's have not listened or have not read the results.

I feel that Dr. David Perlmutter is so brilliant and realistic in his practice that every one of his patients are very fortunate to have been his patient.

I would like to take this book and the grain brain book and write an outline to teach. This is wonderful information. Dr. SBC

David Perlmutter, M.D, author of "The Better Brain Book" gives practical advice on how to enhance brain function and avoid its dysfunction. The book is well written in a language that lay people can understand and be guided by a reputable neurologist. DR. Perlmutter provides the reader with tools how to boost the brain's performance. It takes you by the hand and guides you through daily and weekly menus best suited for your health.

His advice which vitamins to use or which drugs to avoid are very important and helpful. The reader is being introduced to scientific programs of natural therapies. The reader of this book becomes aware how the constant use of cell phone might affect the brain negatively; the brain could be absorbing a significant amount of electromagnetic energy.
"The Better Brain Book" is indeed a valuable reference resource; common things everybody can do to improve brain performance and how the recommended recipes may improve your health.

The Nazis, imbued with bigotry and hatred, had been determined to destroy me. In May 1945, The Russian Army liberated me from a Nazi concentration camp. I was 18 years old when the Russian doctors told me that it would be a miracle if a live another two years. When I was in thirties, I faced many health issues. Then, I changed my life style and adopted many of the same practical suggestions that Dr Perlmutter provides in "The Better Brain Book." I am now 88 years old and feel better than I was 27. Apparently, Dr. Perlmutter's advice should be considered. and his throve of medical information should be appreciated. I for one do. So should anybody who wishes to preserve a healthy brain and a healthy body. Take action now to protect your brain from aging much more rapidly than it should; you owe it to yourself!

Still good information from Perlmutter who is well-respected in the field of functional medicine. The five years since this book was published have seen some important new research which, while not conflicting with Perlmutter's recommendations for having a better brain, is a little more encouraging and specific. In general though, having a better brain is not about supplementation, but about your regular diet, daily exercise and physical activity for your body and your brain. This book is worth a read, but check out some newer books and science, too.

This was an interesting read which covered healthy, and unhealthy habits for your brain. It is also a good resource for what supplements are helpful for your brain, and their recommended quantities and uses.
I have used many of the suggestions from this book to add supplements and adopt healthy habits for my brain.
