Clearly illustrates how the convergence of ITIL (Service Management best practices), the LEAN movement (value stream mapping / waste reduction), Agile Srum, the Toyota Production system (kanban work visualization), W. Edwards Deming's and Dr. Goldratt's research, and many other proven methodologies and frameworks have emerged to unequivocally produce transformational shifts in the landscape of large-scale high performing technology-driven organizations. Anyone involved in the day-to-day operations and fast delivery of features via complex distributed computing ecosystems to their customers would be foolish to pass up the chance to gain wisdom from the subject matter experts who've authored this treasure trove of knowledge!
You don't need to be a seasoned full stack coder, an ITSM expert, an Agile Scrum master, or an Ops scripting ninja to understand the concepts laid out in this intuitive guide! THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ANYONE USING TECHNOLOGY TO DELIVER VALUE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS (which is basically everyone this day and age)!

Finally... There have been some books useful for specific areas of DevOps (Continuous Delivery, Web Operations, etc) but it took until now for us to get a comprehensive and authoritative look at DevOps in a single volume. Gene Kim has brought together the most respected names in DevOps - Patrick Debois, who invented the very term, Jez Humble of Continuous Delivery fame, John Willis (who's been a DevOps booster at everywhere from Chef to Docker), and John Allspaw (CTO of Etsy and author of The Art of Capacity Planning). This book has high level concepts, case studies, specific practices to try, and more. It should be on every technologist's bookshelf. (Disclaimer: I'm in several case studies in the book. But it rocks regardless.)
First Lord's Fury (Codex Alera Book 6) :: The Tinkerer's Daughter :: Academ's Fury (Codex Alera Book 2) :: The Mark of the Assassin (Michael Osbourne Book 1) :: Robert B. Parker's Killing the Blues (Jesse Stone Novels Book 10)

DevOps is more then just Development and deployment. This guide will help you design a DevOps culture that includes all aspects of DevOps and Agile management. A great follow on to "The Phoenix Project".

I work with numerous companies looking to adopt or mature a DevOps framework. They are regularly looking for guidance on how to move from one stage to the next. The DevOps Handbook provide a wealth of practical advice and strategies for maturing your organization through DevOps. The authors include extremely useful use cases and references to multiple additional resources. The customer stories provide considerable grounding and opportunities to see how and where others found success to serve as a model to compare against.
A definite read for anyone who is looking to adopt DevOps or to support organizations looking at DevOps to improve their ability to deliver code to their consumers.

This book gives clear and engrossing advice on how to improve your organization. For too long, IT organizations have languished with limited speed and agility. Many organizations are embattled and simply fighting for their lives. They've run out of tools and ideas on how to dig themselves out of the technical debt they've accumulated over the years. Fortunately, DevOps Handbook gives concrete proof and ideas on how organizations can dig out this hole.
If you work in an technology organization where you feel you can't keep up with the pace of change and internal conflicts are destroying your ability to move forward, then this book is for you. In many ways, the technical aspects of this book are a broader metaphor that show that change in an technology organization is like life; you have to be able to embrace a mindset that change is good (Principles of Flow), change is manageable and less scary than you think (Principles of Feedback) and that you can always improve (Principles of Continual Learning and Experimentation). The tools and processes this book provides serve to reinforce those basic ideas.

The collective wisdom and experience of the 3 authors, plus many others in the form of case studies all packed into a practical guide to enabling a DevOps culture and way of working. A must-read for anyone aiming to build better practices as well as those of us who are already in the thick of it and would benefit from reinforcement and new perspectives.

This is a well written and comprehensive book on DevOps.
I found Part -II topics particularly useful. This section included topics including
i) Selecting which DevOps value stream to focus on
ii) Expanding DevOps across the organization
iii) How to design your DevOps organization especially the discussion on whether to create a dedicated transformation team, create a shared DevOps services, embedding Ops engineer within the services team and assigning an Ops liaison for each service team.
Other parts of the book are going to be likely familiar to teams have already implemented CI / CD / monitoring tools. That said, this book is filled with case studies, reference links and other nuggets that the even advanced practitioners may find useful. For example, description of tools like Hubot ([...]) and links to videos such as Google launch readiness (LRR & HRR) - [...]
