I have read the 1st parts of Shearwater: A Mermaid Romance, The Scarlet Thread and Orpheum: A Dark Fantasy Romance. And have loved them all. I have the 1st Part of Prescient: A Time Travel Dystopia but haven't read it yet. And I just want to say I Love D. S. Murphy!!! His book are addictive. I am at the point now that I trust him enough that I would buy a book of his simply because he wrote it. I really have nothing negative to say. But I do have a request or plea to ask. Please do not continue to writing all your books in parts. I for one am more than willing to pay for the whole novel verses being tortured with 1 part at a time for free...lol I adore you Mr. Murphy but your killing me! And yes I received all the aboved mentioned book free for writing a unbiased review. And I have I really do adore his work. I have'nt been this anxious over a books release since The Harry Potter Novels. And I am not ashamed to say I stood in line at midnight for more than one of them. So that is saying something! I have no doubt Mr. Murphy is going to be huge in the YA Fantasy Genre! And I for one can't wait to read everything he writes.

Book Review- Scarlet Thread by D.S. Murphy

In part one of the Fated Destruction series, Kaidance Monroe is in a Juvenile detention center after the death of her little brother. Everyone thinks she pushed him in front of the truck. No one knows her secret. She saw his death weeks before it happened. No one believed her and then blamed her for seeking attention for the act.
Kai now spends her days with her two friends in the center. They stick together to protect each other against the creepy guards. One night Kai gets talked into sneaking out to attend a party. She meets a strange boy there. She is the only one to see him. She racks it up as another strange occurrence after the visit from the strange man earlier.
The next morning she figures out Dennis, the creepy guard, dared to touch one of her friends. His head met her breakfast tray. As a result solitary confinement was worth it until Dennis finds his way down to her. Her fear spikes because she isn’t a fighter. What is shocking is the strange man who visited her comes to her rescue. He dispenses of Dennis and hurries her out of the center. They race to what will be her new home for now. Even more shocking she is being chased by the boy she met at the party. She ends up in Nevah in this huge house surrounded by people she doesn’t know. She is now in the middle of a war waved by Zeus. She has no idea why she pulled into the middles of this new world. At least they believe in her ability.
Kai has gotten a bad rap in this story. I feel bad for her when her parents abandon her and no one believes she is innocent. The author paints this sad picture and then makes her a social outcast who wears gloves to protect herself and anyone she touches. Then when she is taken to Able it gets a bit confusing. I knew mythological gods and goddesses were involved. The reader has to figure out who is who. They weren’t what you would expect. Some I liked more than others. I feel bad for Kai again as you aren’t sure if they really care or want to use her power.
It was a fast moving first part of the story. The ending was a bit shocking and I wonder how that will affect the story. I give this part a 4 out of 5.

I stumbled upon this book while trying to search for something new and exciting to read. I found it. I haven't been this enthralled by a story in a while. I was so heartbroken that it ended so soon! I was aware that it was only part one of the novel but it was so hard to let it end! I need to continue the story. I'll be waiting and checking for updates daily now!

As a fan of mythology I was instantly interested in this book!
But I absolutely didn't know what I was getting myself into!
I was pleased and utterly surprised after reading only part 1. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next parts!
Defianitly worth the read!!

I just finished reading part one of this book and I couldn't put it down. D. S. Murphy writes with such richness in developing his characters that you feel like part of the story. Please hurry and finish the full book, so I can see where this adventure will take me.

I truly loved it. After reading one of his books, I then downloaded all of Mr. Murphy's books. ALL OF THEM. And I loved every single one of them. And much to my utter frustration, NONE of them have an ending. I sure hope he gets busy writing more.....endings. I finished all his books in one week. And I want more. But I want to have a conclusion. He's a wonderful writer. I love that he writes in first person so it's as if I'm the character. He makes the story engaging and exciting. Lately I've not been enjoying many books about the occult or anything 'supernatural' as too many authors make it sound as this is something they personally dabble in and are encouraging others to dabble as well. As a faithful Christian that bothers me. But I do love a good FANTASY. And Mr. Murphy doesn't seem to voice his personal beliefs or opinions in his books. And I truly appreciate it. They're just good, fun, exciting stories. Enjoy

i like where this story is going, although you might want to brush up on your greek myths before you dive in, be warned the story is not complete this is just a first part, but it definitely makes you want to read more

The only thing that needs to happen with the completion of this book is the completion itself! I fell in love with Greek mythology in 7th grade and have loved it ever since! This is a very nice modern play on those concepts.

The way her backstory was tied into the entire plot was amazing. You don't want to put the book down because you yourself feel for her. The foreshadowing gives you just enough to bring excitement. 10/10 would recommend!

This caught me unawares. Always a fan of the mythology genre I will continue this one until it gets long in the tooth. This is a great start to a series, if that is where the author is going. It is listed as part one of a novel. I wasn't prepared for that. There are a TON of characters to meet in this first part, and it gets a bit much a times. Right now it is a mash up of the descendants of the gods and how a war is started between them.

This modern day YA mythology read was like a breath of fresh air. The characters felt surprisingly realistic (not all teen-angsty to the boringth degree) and the story was unique and engaging. My only disappointment is that the second one is not out yet. I did scoop up the other books by this author and am looking forward to reading more.

What a fun book! Take ancient mythology and make them into living individuals in todays world. Spin a little mystery and murder thriller into that. add a pinch of romance and you have the makings of a great book. When the last part of the book comes out it will be interesting to see if it will be the stat of a series or not. I like the characters but must admit that I did have a little trouble keeping the side characters straight in my head.
" I received a free copy of this book for a fair and honest review of this book."

Kaidence or Kai as most call her, was committed to a juvenile home after being accused of killing her brother. However, she didn't do it. Kai could tell with just one touch if you were going to die in the next few months. She had seen her brothers death and had tried to get people to believe her. When her brother was involved in an accident and died, her parents and other people accused her of killing him. Kai was the model child in the home, kneeing her head down and out of trouble. This was going to change. Someone or something is aware of her ability. One fraction is out to save her whilst the other is out to use her and her abilities to win a war. Which way will Kai go? Who are the enemy? Can she work out what the red mark around her wrist is and why she has had it since she could remember?
An extraordinarily good read. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
