High Heat (Nikki Heat)

I love the series Castle so I really enjoy reading the Nikki Heat books and seeing what I can find in common with the series - there are always names and situations that we've seen or heard on Castle! I see Castle and Beckett in my mind when I'm reading about Heat and Rook and that just makes them more enjoyable!

Good plot and suspense. The ending turned a bit far fetched by preparing for a next book. This spoils the total picture of the story. There is a fine line building credibility in a story playing between fiction and reasoning

I marked "Full of surprises" only because book was surprisingly awful!!!

So disappointing. As I believe others reviewing have said - just who wrote this book? They must have just been given the names of Beckett and Rook and no real back story on them.

I LOVED this show and yes I watched every episode even through season 8. Thought it would be fun to complete the book series as well. Wish I hadn’t. And the end? Was like someone throwing a bucket of ice water loaded with bricks on you.

If you want a deep, thoughtful, meaningful book, I presume you've already discounted this option.
Also, most of the negative reviews here have a point. This isn't great literature after all.

If you want a quick read that takes you back to the characters on the TV show and makes obvious references to itself, this a fun book. I enjoy the continuation of the characters from the show, I enjoy the interjections of humor, and I enjoy the way it doesn't take itself too seriously (in short, just like the show). Along the way I thought it was a fun plot, and though I figured it pretty early, it didn't ruin the enjoyment. As long as they keep creating Castle books, I'll keep reading them (and I hope it's a long time).

Fun Read. A little incredible at times, as are most of the Castle stories, but the action keeps going and it is fun. However, it is a cliff-hanger, because it is not resolved at the end and you have to get the next book in the series to resolve the story. You will have to go to the library for that, since it is not on Kindle.

DON''T waste your money or your time. The writing is bad. This is not the same writer as the first 7 books. This writer couldn't even get the facts right from the previous books. Tyler Wynn did not kill Nikki Heat's mother her ex boyfriend, Petar Matic, did it. Wynn ordered it but the ex carried it out, Her mother is still alive REALLY? She leaves him. This writer put every stupid thing that happened in season 8 in this book. Did he not see that most people hated season 8. There was nothing in this book that even resembled anything from the previous books. The writer of High Heat sucks. Derrick Storm? Really? The whole reason Nikki Heat series was born was because the actual author killed him off to create this series of books. According to the first episode of Castle. This was an extremely easy read because I think a seventh grader wrote it.

Excellent read. Could not put it down. Read it day it was delivered. I can hardly wait for the next book to see how Dereck Storm and Nikki Heat work together. Jameson Rook will keep it all stirred up. Sorry I have to wait for the next book. A Dereck Storm tv show would be great.

All of the Richard Castle books are good. If you liked the TV series, you'll like the books. It's similar to "Bones" tie in that Temperance Brennan writes about Kathy Reichs and the "Bones" show is based upon the life of Kathy Reichs who writes her books featuring Temperance Brennan.

Typical Nikki Hear novel. Allot of surprises throughout the book. I hope that now that the Castle show is no longer on the air, he (whoever he is continues writing these books. Very good feel good books. Looking for to the Derrick Storm crossover in May.

Despite the fact that my loathing of the worst non-character in television history has just increased tenfold ( read it to see who I mean), I thought this was a pretty good addition to the series. I found the plot interesting and the ending sets up the next book nicely. Not the best in the series but still a good read.

The dual plot of searching for the terrorist killer and learning surprising details of the, death? Of Nikki Heat's mom kept me at the edge of my figurative seat. Will the relationship between Nikki and Rook survive? I can hardly wait for the sequel and further titles
