All the Weyrs of Pern (Dragonriders of Pern)

I just purchased this classic collection as a gift for a young lady who loves to read, and she is enjoying it as much as I did when I first discovered them nearly forty years ago. The Dragons of Pern is one of my most beloved fantasy collections.

This is my favorite Pern novel, which describes the quest to destroy thread and prevent any more falls, ever. Even though I've read this book several times, I still cried at the emotional ending. Outstanding!

I thorouthly enjoy all of Ann McCaffery's books; esp. the ones about Pern. I already have all of hers & Todd's books in hardcover. Now I'm getting them on my Kindle so that I can take them anywhere I go. They appeal to my imagination. This is not the first time that I have read them------and I am quite sure not my last!

One of my all time favourite books along with the White Dragon where the story begins. All the Weyrs follows on and completes that section of the story of the Dragonriders of Pern. I have owned a paperback version for over 30 years, read it many times and find it just as exciting now as the very first time. I am very happy that I can have it with me always on my Kindle

This book put all the pieces together. I have enjoyed all the Pern books. It was great information and very entertaining (sometimes making me feel as if I were there). I don't believe Anne McCaffrey will be writing another book (to carry on the story), but I almost wish she would.

Recently bought a copy of the original trilogy at a library sale and enjoyed as much as I did years and years ago.This book brings back the original characters from the first series. It includes Jaxon and Ruth. It is not a stand alone novel. While I enjoyed the reunited characters, it focuses on the technical aspects of exploring and learning from the find of the original ship that brought men to Pern. It was Ok, seemed to lack some of the more emotional awe inspiring moments of the original trilogy.

Good, but it was not very believable, how quickly they all learned how to write code, programs, cell transfections, making of plastics, etc, without knowing any of the basics of those sciences. Also, the fact that everyone was OK with weightlessness, nobody got space-sick, she never wrote about the fact that there is no "up" or "down" and how un-nerving that could be on a people that are used to gravity. I enjoyed the story, however! The characters are wonderful and Anne McCaffrey has a excellent way of painting the various personalities involved.

I love Anne Mccaffrey. I am having to replace all of my digital library because Sony no longer supports ereaders. So I have lost all of my Anne Mccaffrey books, not to mention many others. It's frustrating to have to spend the money again, but she is so worth it! Wish I would have gone with kindle way back then!
