I am waiting eagerly for the next available translation of the Harry Hole stories --- my favorite is "Snowman", but I really enjoyed this story. It is an interesting narrative that carried me along and has the same tension and plot reversals of the HH stories.

In a departure from the Harry Hole series, Jo Nesbo creates an entirely new character. The first 3/4 of the book took a bit of work to get through. A bit slow pacing. But the last quarter is stunning!

great action, slick plot, lots of dark humor, characters with depth and credibility (however improbable the situation may become), all topped with a great wrap.

exactly what you'd expect from a master like jo nesbo, one of the best contemporary scandinavian authors around.

Well, different to the Harry Hole books but Jo Nesbo keeps you guessing the whole time.
Thought it was an excellent story line with a surprise at the end. Definitely a good read and I could not put it down.
New characters Roger Brown and his wife Diane.
Suggest reading the book before seeing the movie.

As Nesbo does so well, he spun an interesting tale with well developed characters, added lots of suspense so you couldn't put the book down, and gave it an incredible ending. I read everything Nesbo comes out with (love the Harry Hole series) and he's yet to disappoint me. Enjoy!

After listening to the audio book version from the library, I ordered the paperback to share with family and friends. It's a wonderfully convoluted plot and a special treat to share with colleagues in the employment industry.

Want a wild ride with amazing writing? This book will deliver. The main character is thrown into such outrageous situations that continue to amuse, shock & intrigue. LOVED this book! A real page turner.

not sure what I was expecting when in cracked this one open, but it got me hooked, straightaway. the feel is more similar to chuck palahnuik than to nesbo's other novels. would love to see him do more stuff like this.

This was a wonderfully complex story. His style in this book reminded me of Le Carre's style, it took 70 pages before the first murder. I loved his taking the different perspective in telling the story. The main character seemed to dig himself deeper into a hole, and you wondered how he was ever going to get out of it. Thank you for a nice escape from the stresses of life.

Nesbo is another of my favorite writers. I love the Scandinavian writers as there writing is so open and clear to read. The plots and twists are so intriguing and deft. I have all his books lined up and reading them. I am in love with Harry!

I really, really like Jo Nesbo. At least I really like the "Harry Hole" series. The Headhunters took my mind on a wild adventurous ride. Unfortunately, I get almost to the end of this novel and the writer has his wife alive again, and his part-time lover/friend as 'sone of his nemesis Nesbo poorly explained that she was the culprit that had set him up, not his wife. This was weak, weak, weak, and down right "piss-poor". I did not believe for one moment that his lover/friend had been the enemy. I was hooked on the wife's betrayal. I think the author should have either left it with the wife's betrayal or rethink how to convince his readers that the other woman was really the one that betrayed. I could say more, but I am going to stop here. The ending was very disappointing. I think I will just stick with the Harry Hole series, that I know are worth reading.

Another great read by Jo Nesbo...makes me want to watch the movie, even with subtitles! It is another complicated and twisted story by Nesbo, with plenty of surprises to keep your interest to the end.

Impossible to put down once you start. Many clues hidden deep within the story-stay alert. Jo Nesbo is a great story teller-keeps you wanting to read more. This review was not written by Patrick L Miller. A computer glitch?

As usual I am entranced with reading Jo Nesbo and don't know why. The story is very involved and complex with a twist at the end I did not see coming. Having Norwegian roots and been to Oslo I am always drawn to novels about Norway.

Loved his book "Snowman" but not this one! This book was I think to far fetched to be believable.Did not enjoy the story line or some of the characters and/or what they did. I will try another of his books at a later date.

Just finished reading this continuouslly surprising, great rithmed novel. Awesome for a hollywood superproduction, but not a novel that will live for ever in my heart. don't get me wrong: do not refrain from reading it, it so much fun!

Very nice characters and some scenes are hilarious. The whole plot is interesting and the story has a very nice flow. Yet, in some parts things happen very fast - or even extremely fast - just to shorten the story so that it fits in given bounds.

I actually watched the movie before buying this book because I was so impressed by the storyline. I do like the plot but I just feel that something is missing from the book. The contents in the book aren't as "tight-knit" as the movie. I guess you'll just have to see it to understand both versions.

This is a good yarn . . fairly short though, and I found the English to be slightly "strange". Difficult for me to put a finger on it, but possibly something to do with the person that translated this from the original Norwegian language. Don't let that put you off, though!

Jo Nesbo continues to amaze readers with his ability to weave a tale with unpredictable outcome that even the best detective enthusiasts will never figure out ahead of the last page.
In this book, Nesbo changes from Harry Hole to Roger Brown, A Norwegian "Headhunter" seeking the perfect manager for an international corporation.
Roger believes that he has found the perfect candidate with the help of his "kept" wife, but soon finds that the wheels of his work and "hobby" will lead him to a disaster with consequences that leave the reader breathless.
Nesbo readers know that the nove is not complete until the last page.

As a longtime Nesbo fan, I was wondering when the Western world would discover him. Having read all his previous novels as soon as they were translated into English, I pre-ordered Headhunters and hunkered down to read it on a plane. At first I was disappointed because I was expecting Harry Hole (who admittedly is one forlorn, sad and sorry protagonist, but you have to love him). But this is no ordinary novel, and after getting into this novel, I could not put it down. The protagonist in this novel comes across as the opposite of Hole; quite an unlikeable guy, really, especially in the beginning. But as you are drawn in to the plot (and what a story it is!), you learn about the character's relationship with his father, and his growing insight into himself. The other characters are pure Nesbo, wild and woolly, and some scenes will make you laugh out loud. Nesbo's writing is at its purist, and the plot twists continue until the last page. If you like Nesbo, try Taylor Steven's "The Informationist" and anything by John Hart (e.g., "Down River").
