Review:First, 4 stars is over rating. This has more typos, grammar errors than I would expect for anything over .99. Story is short about 100+ pages of character development and 'platoon, weapons' description, explanation. Could guess accurately but took away from enjoying. This from a game? Wish I would have known to get appropriate background. With characters, quite a few interesting ones but only few developed.

Review:McGahern writes beautifully, and he obviously has a keen eye - his portraits of the various Irish men and women who populate these stories are well-drawn, and he evokes not only the speech but the total experience of the Irish very well. If only these stories weren't - at least for the most part - so bleak, I could personally enjoy them much more. There's humor to be found within this volume, for sure - but for the most part I found hopelessness and resignation and emptiness and pathos. Far t... Read more
Review:Yet another masterpiece that the general public (or should I say sheeple) just doesn't "get."
If you have a heart, or even a soul (I doubt it these days), how can you not be moved by this story??
It goes beyond a "coming of age" book..it is the archetypal search for one's SELF in this world.
Carson McCullers is a master at conveying the loneliness of that search, and the loneliness within all of us.
Her books move me to tears. Read more
Review:Very interesting book following the two initial books of the book is a bit dense on politics (many many characters, Dispute for power etc....). I preferred the first two books because they were more focused on Geralt is his quests. Read more
Review:Once again, Bobby nailed it. You can just about picture every move from his descriptions and story telling. Literally laughed out loud at nearly every page. This is a refreshing take on the typical zombie story. Similar to the Slow Burn series, but a bit lighter. Can't wait to read #2 once I'm done writing this review. Read more
Review:This Modern Library edition is gorgeously printed and well-annotated with invaluable critical notes that will make the work vastly more accessible to the average person while providing useful background to others. I would have preferred it to have included Paradise Regained, however, as I think it's an important companion to the work. Those with more of an interest in literary criticism or who wish to more vigorously digest and dissect the poem would be advised to steer themselves towards the No... Read more

Review:I read this novel while visiting Normandy. It made the historical sights more relevant and gave insight into the lives of ordinary French villagers during the occupation. I recommend The Baker's Secret to ayone seeking an engrossing story set in France during World War II. Read more
Review:Very disappointing and predictable. I enjoyed reading about the Dakota, but the characters were nothing new to me and a times a little boring and stereotyped. There was no real mystery about the love affairs either. Read more
