Journey to Star Wars - The Force Awakens
Journey to Star Wars - The Force Awakens

Review:Shattered Empire is a series of loosely connected tales focusing on varying characters from the Original Trilogy era and beyond (including Poe's parents). Great writing, beautiful art, and meaningful tales make this well worth picking up... for both hardcore fans and newcomers alike. I can't say much about the stories as it's quite easy to spoil the experience, but I will say that you will see Leia connect with her mother on a small scale, see Luke in action as a Jedi Knight, meet Poe Dameron's... LICK-IT MAN
LICK-IT MAN

Review:While the cover did catch my interest enough to give this a shot, watching the eponymous character repeatedly sexually assault random downtrodden women quickly drove me away. Though this felt like no great loss, as the constant stream of innuendo, which would not have seemed out of place in a high school boys locker room, and a completely uninteresting story made this a very easy book to put down. My Favorite Thing Is Monsters
My Favorite Thing Is Monsters

Review:This book is beautiful, captivating, heartbreaking, mystifying, and even educational. You are immersed in pen drawn pages contrasting monsters that hurt us and the monsters we can aspire to be. Young Karen tries to solve the mysterious death of a neighbor as other mysteries and real life horrors pile up on her. She sketches the covers of her horror comic books, famous works of art, and her encounters with the incredible personalities of Chicago. It is both painful and beautiful. You will want th... Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe
Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe

Review:If you love Deadpool, you will love this! It is a what if? scenario. Short, but sweet. I would defo consider it leaning towards horror. So, perhaps read it first if you want to give it to your tween or teenager to see if you think it's appropriate for them. Adults however, should thoroughly enjoy it, as I did! Read more

Seconds: A Graphic Novel
Seconds: A Graphic Novel

Review:Seconds is the kind of story that would be great as a metaphor or as a thought exercise. As things stand, however, the presentation is too clear and straightforward, it just becomes tiresome and predictable. O'Malley is at his best when his story isn't being told, but rather implied, and there's simply too much telling here. Read more

March: Book One
March: Book One

Review:I bought this book for myself, but plan to share with young people. It will be easy for them to read and they will learn about our country; we are not always the greatest nation in the world. We are not always exceptional. This book is written by someone who lived it. Bless him for writing it. Read more

Blankets
Blankets

Review:This story of Craig’s adolescence is very well crafted and told in a very compelling fashion. The storyline kept me hooked for the duration of novel and I really cared for the characters. The artwork is easy to follow and attractive to the eye. I also liked that this was a longer graphic novel, so it had enough substance to make it feel like it was worth my money. My one regret is that I read this in the middle of the summer, but it would be a perfect read for those cozy winter days by the fire. Read more

DEATH Deluxe Edition
DEATH Deluxe Edition

Review:Neil Gaiman, Death: The High Cost of Living (Vertigo, 1994)

I had a really odd "I'm old" moment when reading this, and seeing Tori Amos' bio listing Under the Pink as a not-yet-completed album to be released early in the next year. Whoa.

Death became, early on, such a popular character in the Sandman books that she got the first spinoff comic. Two collections of it exist; this is the first. It's a minor, but charming, piece of work from camp Gaiman-and-co. One day every century, De... Read more

The Sandman, Vol. 2: The Doll's House

Review:The book arrived a lot sooner than the estimated date and I was very happy. It was a in perfect condition, and I was very happy to receive this wonderful piece of art published by Neil Gaiman. Anyone who has ordered Neil Gaiman's "Preludes and Nocturnes" in the Sandman series, you HAVE to order this one! Read more

The Sandman Omnibus Vol. 1
The Sandman Omnibus Vol. 1

Review:I pre-ordered volume one of the Sandman Omnibus back in May, and have been waiting not-so-patiently for it ever since. It is everything I was hoping for and more. The quality is superb. I'm so excited to re-read the Sandman collection, all gathered together in 2 volumes. For die-hard fans, this is a must have. I couldn't be happier! I have to say though, if you're picking this up as a newbie, it might be best to start with the individual issues for comfort and ease of transport. This thing is HU... Read more
