Review:Bought for class. Item as described.
5 stars isn't about the content, but about the book arriving when it was supposed to and being the one pictured/undamaged.
I didn't end up reading it. Oops. Read more
Review:I wasn't sure what to expect from this book (except for the obvious).
It ended up being not so much a story in itself, but an introduction/summary of other, older stories. However, I think the title gives fair warning to this. It's 'Instructions' on what to do during your adventures, not the adventures themselves, which is actually quite a clever idea (leave it to Neil Gaiman to come up with something like that...if you hadn't already been able to tell, I'm a fan).

Review:This historical romance set in the 1950's during the time when being an unwed mother was shamed for some people. Setting of on her own Maribeth meets Tommy who's going through a tragedy of his own. The Gift is a very heartwarming, compassionate and inspirational book. Everyone faces difficult decisions in life and some are very hard to deal with. Then the loss of a child can bring about a state that no one is prepared to deal with. Maribeth had to make decisions based on what would be best. ... Read more
Review:I ordered a LARGE PRINT book and received a regular print paperback. I returned the paperback, and received another regular print paperback (the exact style I had just returned). I gave the regular print paperback to my Grandfather because it was Father's Day, and now, I'm not sure he can read it because the print is too small.
Needless to say, I am disgusted that my first order AND my second order were NOT correct. What a waste of time and money. Read more
Review:The selection is great. I love the introductions before each time period- it really helps understand the history and culture of the time. Each author has a bio, which is nice. It's nicely laid out, easy to read, and very compact. Since I love literature, this series is a great value and something I enjoy reading outside of class. Read more
Review:This excellent book entitled, "Thirst" by Mary Oliver, is very exciting to read. The poems are realistic, contemporary, and inspiring to the soul. It leaves one with a sense of feeling which brings tranquility to the mind, body and spirit.
The architectural style of the poems is very pleasing to the eyes and actually gives a different feeling while reading the lines. The variation of such designs makes the poems easier to read. Her innovative style of writing also makes the poems very int... Read more
Review:It's a love story, and it has everything: bandits, highwaymen, corrupt judges, criminal masterminds, heroes, villains, faithful friends, lovers, betrayals, robbery, murder, mines, runaway carriages, and beer for breakfast. It's written in classic 19th-century prose style, so don't be put off by the slow start. Slog through it, tough it out, fall it love with the great John Ridd and the beautiful robber's child, Lorna Doone. Set in Exmoor, it's based on historical events. The Ridd farmhouse exist... Review:This is an absolutely enchanting revision of the traditional "Bluebeard" folktale. The story is dark and its characters are engaging.Although it follows the original story somewhat it has its own unique ending that makes this a great novella all on its own. I highly recommend this story for anyone interested in modern fairy/folktale revisions. Read more

Review:Autobiography of Mark Twain - 100th Anniversary Edition Buying what I thought was the new Mark Twain autobiography, this book arrived. Same title, looks authentic, but appears to be an outside instant publishing effort which slipped its product onto the Amazon catalog. Telltale evidence: printer's mark on back page: "24 March 2011" -- just a couple of days before I ordered the book.
The book itself is f... Read more
