Review:I really enjoyed this book. It has just about everything I look for in a good read, suspense, action, horror,SciFi and a little humor. Its definitely not something I was expecting from a star wars novel but it was a great surprise. I loved how dark the content got as the story progressed. Definitely a great read and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that's a star wars/SciFi horror fan its a great blend. Read more
Review:The book is incredibly helpful, however when you get to chapter 12 the pages are mixed up and not in the correcct order. Ch 12 begins in 11 and ten 11 finishes and you get to the rest of 12. Its just kind of annoying to have to swap back and forth. Read more
Review:This book introduced so many new concepts to me that it is hard to sum it all up. Thinking about the world in terms of materials is never a thing I’ve done, but one that o now catch myself doing. This book really will change the way you look at everything around you and will inspire a desire to learn more about the material world. Read more
Review:This is an interesting non-fiction read. I came across the chapter on ascorbic acid and how it helped Capt.James Cook make many amazing discoveries. This excerpt was in our literature anthology. The sophomores thought that it was pretty interesting, so I bought it for my son, a history buff. He gave it a thumbs up though some chapters are a little heavy on chemistry. Nevertheless, it has been my experience that boys like non-fiction much more than novels and romantic poetry. If you are looking... Read more
Review:I was hoping for a more technical / scientific elaboration of the periodic chart; it is, truly, a cultural history. I should have considered the title a little more closely; my fault, not the author's. For what he's trying to write . . . a cultural as opposed to a scientific treatise, he accomplishes the task well. Read more
Review:Really a great and entertaining book. At first I thought it was going to be too technical (I am not a scientist), but it soon became an enjoyable and fun read. It is full of wonderful, interesting stories that span a long history of the elements. I highly recommend it to anyone with a curious mind. Read more
Review:Western Carolina University psychology professor Hal Herzog discusses the peculiar and misunderstood subject of the human-animal connection in his eye-opening new book Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat: Why It's So Hard to Think Straight About Animals. He attempts to reconcile why some animals that are considered pets in some parts of the world end up on the dinner table in another culture. He also examines the fine line of distinction we draw as humans about why we kill certain animals fo... Read more

Review:For me, someone familiar with Abraham's work - this was a disappointment. I had no idea it consisted of little vignettes and I was not really interested in reading them. I have it back up for sale. For a newbie to Abraham, this may be a great book - just not for a more experienced reader. I recommend Ask and it is Given, which I also bought and enjoyed. Read more
Review:Fantastic! The author, not being a scientist, is able to put this very complex information in understandable, practical terms. It is one of the best books I have read on this subject, and it is a subject that fascinates me. I highly recommend it. Read more
