Review:Cross Creek is a wonderful vignette look into early 20th Century life in "Old Florida". The book is different in style from Rawlings well known work, The Yearling. The Yearling tells a tender story of a boy coming of age during the depression era in Florida; Cross Creek is a sketch of the characters that live in this little wetland community of Florida. Review:This book was very interesting, held my attention well but the simple writing style distracted me so that is why I gave the book 3 instead of 4 stars. The writing style reminded me of reading an intelligent 5th or 6th grader could write. I get the impression the author wrote the book, his coauthor was only allowed to tinker with it somewhat. Review:I enjoyed the stories about Walt and the history of the parks, and with good editing could have been a great book. But it felt like a stream of consciousness mix of stories and lists. And it's surprisingly and annoyingly heavy on self-indulgent examples of how people have complimented the author. Read more
Review:Douglas edwards is one lucky guy! Hence the name of the book. While reading this book I kept on asking....why are you at this company? After reading the book I kept asking...why was he at the company? The last chapter solidifies my opinion. Listen the book is a good read, albeit a tad droll after awhile of the growth of one of the greatest company acendecies of all time.
