Bible Study & Reference
Review:The author makes a compelling argument that the Bible, for the most part, must be approached as metaphorical. It cannot be taken literally. He also points out that a metaphorical passage can have an almost unlimited number of implied meanings. He tries, then, to use historical context to limit the number to some reasonable number. Very interesting! Read more
Review:This book helps to give you a clear understanding of the Bible.
I have enjoyed using this reference book. I have two versions,
1. KJV, 2.NIV, They contain the very same information except
the Bible verses. I would have like to have known what the difference
was before I purchased both copies. Read more
Review:Our small group had many good discussions as we worked to apply the exercises each week. Nothing too ground breaking or mystical, just solid practices like creating margin, slowing down, practicing solitude, and surfacing false narratives about who God is. Read more
Review:In a time of uncertainty, with threats from powers overseas, rising prices, mortgage crises, etc., we wonder what the future holds. Dr. Jeremiah doesn't so much deal with those issues, but with the bigger picture, and how Bible prophecy relates to what is going on in the world today. He deals with the European economic union - who would have thought 50 years ago that all those countries would come together. And there is a serious threat from the muslims, who want to rule the world, literally.
Review:The book arrived before the date given and was in perfect shape. It is a great book and I enjoyed reading the Book of Proverbs in the bible, along with this book. I would highly recommend this book to add to your Wisdom Library. Read more
Review:This is a life changing teaching from Myles Monroe!! He will be sorely missed!! I had given away all of my hardback copies to friends and people who needed to hear this message so I bought the Kindle version. I read this many times to remind me of what I'm supposed to be doing. I HIGHLY recommend this as a small group teaching, personal exploration or even as a large group presentation! A MUST READ for Christians! Read more
Review:This book was recommended as a look into the ancient life of the early Christians. It was a ridiculous farce of 'letters' written between men that would never have happened. The letters were very short and superficial whereas any effort to communicate in writing in ancient times would have been worthy of the effort to deliver the letter, not trivia bouncing back and forth. Review:This book is exactly what I was looking for... Invaluable insight, also many tools to help and challenge your prayer life. If you don't improve your prayer life after reading this book, look in the mirror. Read more
Review:I have read many books on the meaning of Christmas. This one is OUTSTANDING! It is both easy and deep reading. Keller's insights continue to astound. We are using for an Advent study in our Sunday School, and everyone is loving it. That says a lot since usually they only like DVD studies -- and they have to actually READ this book! :-) Read more
Review:This book sharpened and clarified my thinking on the subject of suffering and evil, and God's sovereignty over it. I'm a United Methodist pastor whose theological education (by way of a mainline Protestant seminary) failed to equip me to answer important questions related to sin, suffering, and evil. Having read this book, I now gladly say that God uses suffering for our good; that if we suffer, God has his reasons for permitting it, whether we know what those reasons are or not. Similarly, beca... Read more
