Review:While I agree there were some errors, there weren't enough to turn me off to this very enjoyable read. Good character development with a plot line that kept me turning the pages. Looks like I will be reading the next one soon. Read more
Review:I got this for a swap, and thought it was great because it has a lot of "wishers". I wish I'd read all of the 1 star reviews before I wasted my money & time on this dreck. Now I'm going to get about half of what I paid for it back. This is my first, and last, MKA book. I thought it would be a fun beach read about the movie industry, which I find interesting. It wasn't. It was more of a procedural book in the life of a location manager, working on the world's worst film, for the world's ... Read more
Review:If you read one novel this year, read Beartown. Backman surprises with a book unlike his earlier efforts which were excellent in and of themselves, but in this book you sense his full potential as a writer. I would risk going so far as to say it should become a classic with Catcher in the Rye and A Separate Peace. This is a book all men should read but sadly will not but even at 73 years of age, I found it something special. This story will tug at you in multiple ways and it will make you thin... Read more
Review:Such a great book with a wonderful story! I am a sucker for anything that involves music and the fact that this story has its own soundtrack makes me love it even more! It was the first book I read by Colleen Hoover and plan to read more of her writing! Read more
Review:Goodness, this had such potential to be a beautiful novel. Upon reading the summary, I was hooked. Let's see…there's a child book-lover (and someone with a disability to boot) living among the real world and fairies, escapes an abusive parent, loses a twin, starts a new life at school, has aunts who may/may not be witches…it sounds awesome. Alas...
While it does have a fascinating prologue, it is all downhill from there. Basically it's lists…lists…lists. The narrator is a young teenager, ... Read more
Review:This book series is so fantastic. I'm in the last few pages, and I'm already excited to read it again! Now how will I muster the patience to wait for the third book?? Thanks NK Jemisin for this incredible creation of yours! Read more
Review:I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book. I was in high school during the 80's, so reading this brought me right back to my teenage years. I loved the pop culture references and the fact that the chapter titles were 80's song titles. The book begins and ends with yearbook pages which I read both before I read the main story and then went back and read after to see what character names I recognized in the yearbook signings.
The pop culture references and neat packaging aside, this is... Read more
Review:I'm speechless. I wasn't expecting what I got out of this book. I thought this was going to be a fun read, but it was much more. This book has me all in my feelings. I can't wait for the next book. I need to know how this plays out. Read more
Review:I purchased this novel for my recent Caribbean vacation and found it enjoyable. It was not "deep" in any way, but the novels and relationships I could certainly relate to with my own group of friends. Found it an entertaining beach read. Read more
Review:An okay read. Some portions of the book were a bit ridiculous, actually. And sadly, Val's entire character went from charming and spunky to idiotic, annoying, and completely off-the-wall mental. In fact, I found her extremely unlikable and began to cringe each time she appeared on the page. But Addie and Jordan make the book well worth the read. (Along with Jennifer Weiner's writing - love her.) Not one of Weiner's best, but if you're a fan I'd recommend checking it out. Read more
