Review:I love Terry Brooks and the Shannara series, and I know this was only a short story, but even the other two short stories in the series had a little more going on than this one. I was looking forward to more intrigue and participation from Shea and Flick. Read more
Review:The main characters in this book second guess everything to a fault, they just whine and whine about who they are, and what has been "done" to them... it is really tiring. They eventually step up but it is like pulling teeth... and even when doing what they are destined to do they complain the entire time and second guess themselves. Read more
Review:I just bought three audio version of this book and it's abridged down to 3 hours! Nothing indicated this and now I've wasted my money.
The book, as I remember it, is great, but don't buy this audio book expecting what is offered for the other shannara audiobooks. It'snot worth the money. Read more

Review:A favorite author of mine and my brothers..we both love the fact that he takes local settings in the northwest that we are both familiar with and so intricately weaves such magical and detailed stories... another one well done! Read more
Review:I don't get it. Why would an accomplished, independent, wise beyond her years, "experienced", strong, willful, skilled, extremely intelligent and powerful teenage girl need an old tutor? A teenage girl from a village, who does not like to be told what to do, but is more than willing to tell others what to do, as she has the wisdom and experience to do so. A girl who can pick up flying just by watching. Whose knowledge of magic is so in depth that she is already accomplished enough to make her ow... Read more
Review:This continues the Shannara series from Terry Brooks, and I couldn't wait until it came out. I started reading it when I bought it on Amazon and then I finished it last night. Very good book from beginning to end. Thank you Terry for continuing the Shannara series at its very best. Read more
Review:Lois always does and excellent job, and she has again with this novella. My only real disappointment with the book is that it isn't longer! I really like the world that started with 'Curse of Chalion' and the attitudes of the people in it. Penric is fun, maybe not so deep and dire as Cazaril or the lady Ista. Highly recommended. But you really should read Penric's Demon first.
Better yet, read Curse of Chalion then Paladin of Souls then the Penric books. I think Penric could stand o... Read more
Review:A delight, and a very satisfying read. LMB displays her signature mixture of drama and humor. Once you have read it, you will understand why LMB abandoned the Penric naming convention for the title she chose. Not independent of the previous Penric novellas, but best read last of the four. Review:The Penric stories are quite good! There's some "nasty" violence in here, but it isn't explicitly described.
The ending is ... indicative of another story to come; not exactly a cliffhanger, but not a real ending either. Read more
