Fantasy
Review:I've never read a series with this concept. Definitely a powerhouse opening. This is urban fantasy mixed with high fantasy, two of my favorites. Parts of the plot are standard fare for fantasy but it's mixed with enough unique elements to break away from that into something capable of standing on its own and even common fantasy elements are shown in a refreshingly new way. I loved it Read more
Review:I was intrigued by the snippet of the plot and was not disappointed after reading the book. It has everything you would want in a mystical novel. There is magic, otherworldly creatures, a powerful villain, an interesting magic system and romance to boot. I can't wait to start the other books in the series to see where everything goes. Review:At the end of The Gifting, Tess and Luka realize that they aren't crazy - they are simply part of The Gifting. But the real question is, what does that mean?
This book immediately dives into an action-packed hunt for answers. First Tess and Luka are forced to escape as fugitives. Then, they must piece together the puzzle of what connects them. That means putting themselves in great danger, half way across the country. Along the way, they learn that they are not alone. And that their abili... Read more
Review:I bought this book in the compilation of 1 and 2, but wanted to leave my feedback separately. I really enjoyed this book. I had never read it growing up but got into the series on TV. I knew from basic knowledge of the book that a lot didn't follow the book, but then, which shows based on a book does? I was quite taken with the story and really enjoyed the characters in the book far better than the tv series. The first book(as I haven't gotten to the second one yet) is a must read for teen horro... Read more
Review:In this era of triumphant religious fundamentalism, Small Gods is a pretty dangerous item to be seen carrying. Terry Pratchett, carrying a reputation of being a major force in writing fantasy and humour has shed both in this penetrating book. It's an incisive satire of the mores and methods of the three major religions of Western Civilization. Pratchett's astute axiom that the Discworld is a "mirror of worlds" applies with more force here than any other Discworld book. Pratchett casts a... Read more
Review:I suppose this was a good start. Having read the Wizards and Death books before I did expect a bit more, but it did improve once the plot and characters were established. Looking forward to Men At Arms (book 2) now that introductions are over with. Read more
Review:I loved it! I read the whole thing in one sitting in about five hours. Worth it!
Writing: I thought the writing was beautiful and unique. The story concept itself was very original, and I loved the mystery within mystery. I'm usually pretty good at guessing how the story will turn out, but this one lead me down so many different paths that I wasn't able to figure it all out until the very end. It was surprising and creative, which earns big points from me!
Characters: I liked the m... Read more
Review:I really appreciated the fact that because the publisher wasn't letting the book go Kindle at first, Amazon stepped up and offered the hardcover in it's place for the same price.
I love this series, it is so well written, the characters are made to feel as though they are your friends. I am going to hate when this series is over, but, I'm sure we will be made to feel the same about the next series. Read more
Review:I enjoyed this last book in the series. I was sad that I had read all the books and had nothing to look forward to. I just didn't like the picture on the cover. I picture Rose with a different look. Read more
