Review:This book picks up where the second one stopped, but refocuses on characters we haven't seen since the first book. The pasts of both the main characters and several of the races are revealed, and they are not disappointing.
The reason for the low rating, and my main complaint about this book is the editing. Frankly, it is so bad I often have to re-read a paragraph several times to figure out what was being said because it lacks all punctuation, every third word is italicized, and random w... Read more
Review:I bought all three books of the Black Magician Trilogy at once because we don't often have convenient access to English bookstores.
The first book was fine. The action was a little slow and the characters a little hard to get to know. But all in all it was a pleasant romp with all the enjoyable (if predictable) story elements frequently found in this genre.
The second book improved on the first, and I was really feeling more invested in the characters and trying to guess what was ... Read more
Review:An excellent book. It continues the story of "Half a King", but instead of Yarvi, there is a new character taking the spotlight: Thorn. She's bascially the opposite of Yarvi. After all, Yarvi is a man, who was expected to be a warrior king but instead chose to be a minisiter of peace. Thorn is a woman, who is expected to be a traditional lady, but wants to be a warrior. The plot by itself isn't actually anything amazing. In fact (like many fantasy books), they spend a huge portion of time just t... Read more
Review:Since this book. I have finished the entire series. How Terry Brooks ties all the stories together was masterful. Read them all!!!! Do not skip any. And for the purpose of the series. Read them in order! You get a lot more insight as to the situations the characters face and gain a knowledge of their fate and their need to face their challenges! Love it fully! Read more
Review:I don't know what to really say. This book, the conclusion a great trilogy, was even better than the first two. Devoured the 650+ pages without respite. Not getting into particulars(reading this for days I've been late for work) but cannot recommend this trilogy enough. Read!!!!!! Read more
Review:I love the book but it was not what I expected. It is smaller than what I thought and was looking for the orginal size. This is not what I am looking for since I have most of Terry Brooks books in original form. Read more
Review:This was a great novel! The main character made smart decisions (possibly a little -too- well for a 13yo), wasn't a whiny brat, and had serious moral dilemmas that challenged him throughout! I will certainly be reading the next books! Read more
Review:Great characters that hold their own. Fast paced action that's neither overly descriptive nor vague. Can see author evolve his writing style as well as the characters and macro story line. The best of the series yet. Cant wait to start the next episode. Read more
Review:If you've read any of Glynn Stewart's other books, you will be pleasantly surprised to try out this new series. The main character is different from any of his other characters, and so is the setting and plot.
I love this first installment in a new series because it takes multiple plot strands and ties them together without being overly obvious, yet still making sure the story is complete. No loose ends that don't make sense. All of the characters grow, both together and separately. I... Read more
Review:Pretty good adventure-mystery. However.....most of the major female characters were not normal. These females all had super characteristics--
much admired by this NORMAL male. And the only major normal female was the powerful head of the country whose guards could not protect her in a crises and ended being tied up, unable to protect herself. I probably will read more of this author because this book did not have too many of the callous attitudes found in so much of today's entertainment. Read more
