Track Animals―and Other Forgotten Skills (Natural Navigation)

Review:Love this book. Can't find a single page that's not interesting. This is a resource book so easy to read & author describes things simply so reader follows along without a glitch. Love this book & his "How to Read Water" book also. Hope to buy more over time for each grandson. My son who is 26 and an outdoorsman type says he never wants to lose this book, it's a keeper. Thank you also for the price being affordable. Read more

Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope - Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope - Boy Who Harnessed the Wind

Review:I'll be honest, the book starts off rather slowly. William tells of his childhood in Africa that ranges from the death of an uncle to the famine that struck his land. Once the book picks up, basically when he begins to actually build the windmill, the back story makes a lot more sense. In the end, it is quite difficult to not be enamored with what this young man manages to accomplish with limited resources. Overall, it is a very good read. If you are looking for an inspiring story then this is o... Read more

Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation
Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation

Review:This is an elegant presentation of one of the most solidly supported theories in science. "The Science Guy" shows us clear, objective, abundant evidence for evolution, despite the often hostile rejection of these truths by much of American culture. It is as beautiful and awe-inspiring a story of the origins of life as those found in any mythology or religious doctrine. Read more

Speculations on the Evolution of Human Intelligence
Speculations on the Evolution of Human Intelligence

Review:The book is a bit dated of course as it was written in the 1970's, but the material and the presentation appeared to be timeless. I had never read much by Dr. Sagan prior to reading this and this was a great introduction to his clear thinking and writing style. His theories on anthropology will remain current but it was humorous to read of new computer games, such as Pong and Space Wars. Read more

A North American Field Guide to Over 200 Natural Foods
A North American Field Guide to Over 200 Natural Foods

Review:Alright this new edition is a good book. Lots of color pictures and good descriptions. There are some issues though. I live in Texas and either we don't have as many as other areas or they didn't really cover what we do have but there is hardly any of my local flora in that book. However it will still be in my day pack anywhere I go and as far as I have found this is better than most and as good as any. Read more

Eastern/Central North America (Peterson Field Guides)
Eastern/Central North America (Peterson Field Guides)

Review:Good book. Wish it was written for more of a novice such as me but it does give the information I wanted. Was looking for the book to be a survival guide for an emergency or scouting, some parts were confusing but it did the job somewhat. Book would have been better if not written at an intermediate level. Read more

Walden
Walden

Review:This book is good ethically,it makes you consider how our country, and citizens ought to behave. You begin to realize that the premise of our Democratic government which Americans so pride themselves on is flawed. Thoreau makes you consider what it is you as a citizen, as a rebel, as a politician to for this country. As well as what you should do for yourself. You come to realize that perhaps the things we think we need are things that are not only unnecessary, but also things that tie us down. ... Read more

The Forest Unseen: A Year's Watch in Nature

Review:I very much like the brevity of each chapter since each chapter contains facts I either did not know or have forgotten. Due to the relative shortness of each chapter the new information is not overwhelming. The book confirms my awe of nature. I am still reading it, I have not finished it yet, and I am thrilled each time I pick it up. Read more
