the Aspern Papers and Two Stories (Barnes & Noble Classics)
the Aspern Papers and Two Stories (Barnes & Noble Classics)

Review:I liked this book, but it was definitely creepy!!! I found myself becoming unsettled fairly early on, and it only got worse.as the book progressed. Old-style writing, naturally, but still easy enough to get into to give you some uneasy dreams if you read it at night. Read more

Gangsta Divas
Gangsta Divas

Review:This series of books always leaves you wanting more. The circle of relationships always end at family. It is so hard to imagine family or even people being this dirty. But it is a reality for some people. Glad I'm reading about it and not living it. Waiting for the next one. POOR Tashara!! Read more

The Epic of Gilgamesh (Penguin Classics)
The Epic of Gilgamesh (Penguin Classics)

Review:One of the stories that defined what a "classic" is. This is a very readable translation. Gilagamesh is one of the earliest recorded mythologies. The Epic is a must read for the history/literature buff. Read more

A Vampire King's Desire (Relentless BWWM Vamp Series Book 1)
A Vampire King's Desire (Relentless BWWM Vamp Series Book 1)

Review:This is a really, really, good read. I came across this author and let me just say, she wrote words that created a compelling read. Grayson, is sexy as hell and he is in love with Georgian. I mean he has loved her for years without her even knowing he exist. Now, who can make a plot like this that becomes thick by the moment. Ms. Christine Gray did just that. I'm feeling this story. It's all that and then some. I recommend "Relentless: A Vampire King's Desire." I'm on my way to book II,... Read more

Barrel Fever: Stories and Essays
Barrel Fever: Stories and Essays

Review:What a tremendously disappointing read. If it weren't for the final story, Santaland Diaries, I would have only given this book one star, and only then because I couldn't give it less. I was not looking for a re-tread of "Me Talk Pretty One Day," but I was looking for something of comparable quality (which in "Pretty" was stellar), and this was NOT it. Meandering, pointless, humorless ramblings from someone who is capable of much better writing.
Only in Santaland Diaries do we get to see t... Read more

Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary
Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary

Review:I normally love David Sedaris and his sardonic, sarcastic writing voice, but this one was just a little too dark for me. I also love Ian Falconer's illustrations in my daughter's Olivia books, but something about seeing that talent put to a much more bloody and macabre use was a little unsettling. My least favorite DS book and not one I will keep. I don't need to - some of those illustrations are etched into the backs of my eyeballs forever, thank you very much. Read more

Twilight's Dawn (Black Jewels)
Twilight's Dawn (Black Jewels)

Review:This book is going to get mixed reviews no matter what!! No one likes to see the main characters you've grown to like over the years just come to such a human end - death.

But Bishoop does it while keeping true to each character's form, while still leaving a quite dignity to those left behind to move on and continue to grow and hopefully have more stories to tell.

If you've been a fan of the black jewel series - this book provides you with some closure and while some people might ... Read more
