Book Ten of The Malazan Book of the Fallen - The Crippled God
Book Ten of The Malazan Book of the Fallen - The Crippled God

Review:The road was long and filled with both pain and wonder, but eventually it came to an end. And with the closing of the story, Erikson shows us that the best endings feel like coming home from a journey and settling into your favorite chair. Not all journeys are happy, but even the most arduous of sacrifices within these pages leaves the reader feeling rewarded by the scope and depth of this most grand of stories, The Malazan Book of the Fallen. Highly recommended!!! Read more

House of Chains (The Malazan Book of the Fallen - Book 4)
House of Chains (The Malazan Book of the Fallen - Book 4)

Review:What an absolute pleasure to read. The overall complexity of the story, the revealing of characters that make them increasingly tangible, and the constant intrigue (even from newly introduced elements in the series), continue to impress me. I hope that Steven continues to write many more novels, because I'm now convinced that I'll be hooked on whatever fantasy he pens. Read more

Book Nine of The Malazan Book of the Fallen - Dust of Dreams

Review:If you're contemplating buying this book, you've probably already read the first eight, and there's really nothing more to say. If you're enjoying the series so far, Dust of Dreams won't disappoint you. Read more

Book One of the Kharkanas Trilogy (A Novel of the Malazan Empire)

Review:I have been reading fantasy/sci do since I was a kid. Beginning with the venerable Tolkien like so many do, then expanding into The Great's of both genres. Steven Erikson is the best I have ever read.I Read more

The Three Musketeers (Bantam Classic)
The Three Musketeers (Bantam Classic)

Review:The book was in okay condition overall. The binding was secure, etc. However, I was surprised that Amazon would sell a used book with water damage. I can expect wear, a few bent earmarks on pages, may a stray pencil marks here and there; water damage is a little different. Many booksellers consider books with any water damage whatsoever to have no retail value and will not deal with them... Read more

Review:I originally went on Amazon looking for thr paper bag and couldn't find any but this is a really good book. You have a short story that gets right to the point and has the feel of a full novel. John did a great job with this one. Read more

The Confusion (The Baroque Cycle, Vol. 2)
The Confusion (The Baroque Cycle, Vol. 2)

Review:The second in Neal Stephenson's trilogy The Baroque Cycle, "Confusion" is much faster paced and more action packed than it's predecessor Quicksilver (which I nevertheless enjoyed immensely).

Jack Shaftoe leads a band of vagabonds around the Middle East, and across the Pacific in search of Spanish Gold. Along the way he escapes from slavery, steals a shipload of "Solomons's gold", looses it all to a warrior queen and becomes King of an Indian province after a bizarre battle using phospho... In the After
In the After

Review:There are a lot of dystopian books with teenage protagonists on the market right now. Any author writing this sort of book needs a great POV, an interesting and sympathetic hero/heroine and surrounding characters, drama, action... this book has it all.

Told in the first person, not always an easy POV but pulled off well here, Amy is believable. Was there a little bit of luck that her father was very green with solar panels, rain catchers etc, so she can still run the dishwasher months aft... Read more

Last Man Standing
Last Man Standing

Review:I don't normally write reviews. It seems that we all have our prejudices and tendencies that effect our opinion. Most often reviews wreck books that someone might enjoy. But this book is so bad people need to know not to waste their time. The plot is so simple minded and is telegraphed at every turn the crafting of dialogue and descriptive narrative is so juvenile it's unreadable. I read the whole book because I was intrigued just how bad it could get. This book got as bad as feared. Don't wast... Read more
