Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood - Book 5)
Dead as a Doornail (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood - Book 5)

Review:We open this book to find out Jason is now a werepanther and seem to be doing ok with the idea, but someone is out to kill shifters and Jason is a suspect, so Sookie has find out who is shooting shifters since Calvin and Sam have both been shot, and if that's not enough Sam ask Sookie to go to Eric to see if they can get help with a bar tender until Sam is back on his feet, so of course Eric is all to happy to help out, but what he doesn't know is the guy he sends wants to kill Sookie and tries ... Inherit the Dead: A Novel
Inherit the Dead: A Novel

Review:I certainly hope this type of writing is not the wave of the future. The advertising as a Lee Child book is misleading at best and fuaudulent at worst. As it is written by different authors it is fragmented and choppy. I feel Amazon misrepresented it and over charged for it. I rarely quit a book without finishing it but I probably will this one. I am disgusted by the whole experience and feel I have been ripped off by Amazon and Lee Child. Read more

Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood, Book 3)
Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood, Book 3)

Review:Bill has suddenly disappeared with mysterious directions for Sookie. Eric informs her that Bill has been taken, possibly dead, and--maybe worse--is with another woman, a vampire. Sookie, along with Eric and hunky werewolf (finally!) Alcide, runs off to Mississippi and infiltrates Club Dead to try to rescue Bill and unravel the plot (of which nothing more is heard from for the entirety of the book). There's some cool action, but not enough and with not really any semblance of depth and mystery or... Read more

A Touch of Dead (Sookie Stackhouse - The Complete Stories)
A Touch of Dead (Sookie Stackhouse - The Complete Stories)

Review:I am a huge fan of the series, so when I saw a new book was coming out I of course pre-oredered. I was extremely disappointed to find out it was just a bunch of previously published short stories. As a fan of the series I had already purchased the original printing. Big waste of money! A Bone to Pick (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries - Book 2)
A Bone to Pick (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries - Book 2)

Review:Another good entry in the Aurora Teagarden series by Charlaine Harris, although disappointingly, in my omnibus edition, Chapter Eight is virtually unreadable because of formatting errors.
I like Roe Teagarden. She's a fun character, quirky, has some idiosyncrasies and not everything goes the way she wants it to. In this entry to the series, Roe has come into an unexpected inheritance, a house, and a significant amount of money, after her friend's death. She also accidentally inherits a cat... Read more

Grave Surprise (Harper Connelly Mysteries, Book 2)
Grave Surprise (Harper Connelly Mysteries, Book 2)

Review:I love Charlaine Harris. This book is a great change from what I have been reading. I enjoyed it very much. I loved Harper and Tolliver very much. They keep the entertainment coming with a little twist of tenderness that is exceptional in any book. Read more

A Lily Bard Mystery (Lily Bard Mysteries) - Shakespeare's Champion
A Lily Bard Mystery (Lily Bard Mysteries) - Shakespeare's Champion

Review:Lily Bard tries to keep her unhappy past at a distance by working out at the local gym and doing a job, cleaning houses, which keeps her occupied and takes her mind off her past. While going into the gym, she discovers a local bodybuilder with a barbell across his neck. This and other incidents lead Lily to believe that racial problems are getting out of hand in her adopted Arkansas town. She teams up with a handsome detective and they search for the truth, almost afraid of what they may find... Read more

An Ice Cold Grave (Harper Connelly Mysteries - No. 3)
An Ice Cold Grave (Harper Connelly Mysteries - No. 3)

Review:I loved this book primarily because of the skilful characterisation, and also because it's part of a series and I love to follow a long storyline through a number of books. However, I don't buy books to read right now; I stockpile them so I'll have something to read when my husband go travelling in our trailer (in Australia, they're called 'caravans'). I think I've got over a hundred books downloaded, of which I've read only 10 or 15, and the rest are waiting until our next trip. That's why I... Read more

Last Scene Alive (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries - No. 7)
Last Scene Alive (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries - No. 7)

Review:Last Scene Alive is the seventh novel in the Aurora Teagarden series by American author, Charlaine Harris. Almost a year after Martin's death, Roe is going through the motions of life when Hollywood comes to town to shoot scenes for a two-part TV movie of Whimsical Death, Robin Crusoe's novel about a serial killer in Lawrenceton (see Real Murders, the first Aurora Teagarden mystery). Roe has mixed feelings about Robin's arrival, and is not at all happy about the movie, even though it is bound to... Read more

The Julius House (Aurora Teagarden Book 4)
The Julius House (Aurora Teagarden Book 4)

Review:For a 'cozy' type of mysteries - that is a subjective description - Diane Mott Davidson is the absolute best. Stacking these up next to Goldy Bear, really cannot be fairly done.
That being said, these books were enjoyable. The setting is likable and draws you in, the supporting characters all fit nicely into the series. The plots and crimes are edgier than a typical cozy, (than Davidson, Fluke, Sefton), but not as graphic as a full blown thriller. The biggest problem I have is with the ma... Read more
