The Forty Rules of Love
The Forty Rules of Love

Review:I enjoyed everything about the book. It spoke to me and probably Everyman . A must read for our times where spirituality is lost in the face of every religion and where tolerance is a foreign concept . Read more

White Teeth (Penguin Essentials)
White Teeth (Penguin Essentials)

Review:The prose is beautiful as is the messaging. Many of the characters don't redeem themselves, which is probably better. That said, it took me a long time to get through for some reason. I'd definitely suggest the book, however. Read more

A Suitable Boy: The classic bestseller
A Suitable Boy: The classic bestseller

Review:It's been several years already since I first read this book, and actually I just came across this review area and listing now, to see if Seth has come out with anything new (that I haven't yet read), so I decided to add a brief comment about how much I LOVED this book. It was so rich and engrossing (even if I skimmed over some of the historical/political descriptive plot parts to get more quickly back to the main love story saga plotline), I still think of this book "fondly" as one of my ... LONGLISTED for the Man Booker Prize 2017 - Swing Time
LONGLISTED for the Man Booker Prize 2017 - Swing Time

Review:Structurally and technically, this novel belongs with Faulkner, Proust, Woolf, and all the best writers concerned with the concept of "time". But it is (if at times "slow") perfect for a common reader. Zadie Smith can tell a tale with all its implications. An amazing voice in contemporary literature (sic) has proven again she is. PS Her tone is not to be missed if you don't know it yet. A great writer in her prime. Read more

Review:I loved Tiny Beautiful Things from Cheryl Strayed and went on to read this book as well. I am grateful for this story of Cheryl's own resilience. So many of us who have difficult and heart breaking things happen in our own lives need to read stories like this one. Read more

Truth or Beard (Winston Brothers Book 1)

Review:Great sexy story with well developed main and supporting characters. Topped off with just enough drama and a small dash of angst! Favorite line..." I would kiss you, but I don't want our beards to tangle" ! Funny and sweet! Read more

A sweeping wartime romance full of courage and passion

Review:I would recommend this book to any one interested in old wars. This was most interesting and my husband was well versed about the Cremean war, which was helpful in helping me understand the location and other facts. Read more

Just After Sunset

Review:I don't know where Stephen King gets this stuff! Actually I do, because he has notes at the end which I like. Every story is different from each other and from other stories he has written. I enjoyed this book immensely! Read more

The Magnificent Ambersons
The Magnificent Ambersons

Review:After watching the Orson Welles production, I decided to read the book. Often there is much more substance in a book. That wasn't the case here - is that a result of the richness of the movie, or a weakness of the book? Either way, don't partake of both in the same month as I did, and you'll enjoy the second one more. Read more

Elements of Chemistry (Hypothesis Series Book 1)
Elements of Chemistry (Hypothesis Series Book 1)

Review:1. I love how Penny Reid writes. Her characters and dialogue never disappoint.
2. I was hooked from scene one - very clever and entertaining.
3. I should have waited for all the books in the series to have been released before reading. I knew this!!
4. My weakness for Penny has left me annoyed with an incomplete story.
5. I'm going to re-review after I've finished all three books. I can't give higher rating now based on 1/3 of a story.
6. Penny's books are at the top of my list in... Read more
