Seven Pillars of Wisdom (Wordsworth Classics of World Literature)
Seven Pillars of Wisdom (Wordsworth Classics of World Literature)

Review:Most interesting story; actual history; detailed life of the Arabs at war, the manner of their living in the desert & in the oases & a look at how the British officers looked at the war scene & played a part in it. A look into how war was fought 100 years ago. The inclusion of the maps of the various regions where the battles were being fought is very interesting & most important. The story or review is told in a beautiful, easy to read prose & is really, a delight to read. Read more

A Combat History of the First World War - The Great War
A Combat History of the First World War - The Great War

Review:This is an extensive account of military action with minimal political analysis as to causes and legacy. It covers action on land sea and air, with accounts of weaponry development in all three arenas. It's well organized to follow a chronological account, switching between the many fronts, although Hart leaves no doubt that the decisive area was the Western Front.. There are a few nuggets of new (to me) information, like King Constantine being married to the Kaiser's sister Sophia. Another is t... Read more

Energy, Evolution, and the Origins of Complex Life
Energy, Evolution, and the Origins of Complex Life

Review:Very interesting read, but definitely not for mass consumption. I am a biology major and still needed to wade through all the terminology/ ideas presented within. I loved the book, but I would not recommend it to anyone who did not study science Read more

Exploring Lifespan Development (3rd Edition) (Berk

Review:Book was in great quality, however, I do not suggest this for people who are clumsy. I personally have been destroying this book due to the pages being loose leaf. Even though I have it set up in a large binder, I have been ripping pages out left and right by simply leaning on it. Read more

Wong's Nursing Care of Infants and Children

Review:Book details described as "New." The book I received seemed fairly new. Dirty back, scratch on front cover, damaged spine. These textbooks are expensive, and I was upset the quality of the book I received was not new. Not happy with what I received but needed the textbook immediately so I kept it. If it wasn't for needing the book for class, I would've returned it. Not happy with my experience. Read more

The Evidence for Evolution - The Greatest Show on Earth
The Evidence for Evolution - The Greatest Show on Earth

Review:What can you say but bravo to Dawkins for his clear and precise facts on evolution from the genetic evidence,DNA,fossils etc. This book goes in to the detective work of evolution unlike other books this tells you the facts and presents the evidence to back it up. Great book for anyone looking to get the strait facts on evolution. Read more

A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution - The Ancestor's Tale
A Pilgrimage to the Dawn of Evolution - The Ancestor's Tale

Review:This book is not really about the evolution vs creationism issue. That issue is settled in science and only lives on in the minds of the willfully ignorant, some of whom choose to launch an "internet crusade" against Dr Dawkins.

Rather, this book is an odessey of evolution, from ourselves through our ancestors back in time. It is a worthy tale, if a bit detailed at times. Our path has been very contingent and very fascinating. But for all the detail, the point is one of raw awe.

Review:This book is an essential read for anyone and everyone. I learned about it through Tai Lopez's 67 steps program. Tai, an investor and entrepreneur, has a list of books he recommends in order of most importance and this book is 1st on the list. Many of the most successful people in the world have read this book and put it into to practice, so what are you waiting for? Read it right now. Read more

Why the Evidence of Evolution Reveals a Universe without Design
Why the Evidence of Evolution Reveals a Universe without Design

Review:'its just a theory' -- blah blah. Yea. Well, read this, reflect on it--THEN let us discuss it. Amazingly, most creationists have never really read up on evolution to discover how the mechanics of it really work. As Richard Dawkins shows us, it isn't just "random chance".

If you fear this book, get it and read it anyway so you at least know what you are railing against. Read more

Review:After seeing a program on PBS about Salinger, I decided to revisit some of work. I had never read For Esme etc and now wish I was in a book club or literature class to really dig into the stories in this book. Salinger's writing is the kind of work that stays with you and you continue to think about it and want to re-read it. I don't think of Salinger as an "exceptional" author, like Hemingway or Faulkner, but it is certainly very deep. Read more
