Review:This book should be read by High Schools across the nation. This will probably never happen, because the truth hurts and the truth will set you free, the facts are harsh and eye opening. But if you want to know how history shaped our surrounding now then this is a great book. It cannot be read in one sitting but its an interesting book, a great read! Read more
Review:Written based upon his real-life experience as a scullery worker in a Paris hotel and a tramp in London, George Orwell's recounting of the stories of the impecunious stands alone in its authenticity of the content and veritability of the experiences The substantiality of poverty was boredom and inconvenience, according to Orwell because poverty freed people from standard s of ordinary behaviors. Nevertheless, this book is not a book of socialist manifesto that urges the impecunious to revolt ag... Read more
Review:I really liked this book. To find your whole family murdered is bad enough. Then taking 2 years to learn how to draw and shoot before taking the trail of vengeance and how he found them one by one is really a story. I plan on purchasing books 2 and 3 soon. Read more
Review:The book covers the events of 1971 beginning from the general elections of 1970 until the end of war in December 1971. The Awami League led by Sheikh Mujib won the elections with majority representation at the parliament, but however was unable to become the Prime Minister as Bhutto denied to accept any negotiation mediated by Yahya Khan, despite losing the elections. This led the Bengalis towards an uncertain future for them.
The book is exceptionally significant as it brought about evidence... Read more
Review:Murch is considered the most influential and effective editors of the last 50 years, and with good reason. He worked on Apocolypse Now, The Godfather trilogy, and many other films. He also successfully made the transition from film to digital media, and had a deep understanding of both the artistic and practical considerations of editing. The book is an adaptation of a lecture, and it shows in the conversational style. Read more
Review:It is surprising that a book about which you already know the outcome can still be so intriguing, but Warnings Unheeded is extremely so. The book was well written, highly detailed and extremely thoroughly researched. He brings to life stories that I had read about in the past, but never felt from the victim's point of view. I cannot imagine just how the author was able to organize all the different angles from so many that were affected, but he succeeded in doing so. I hope that the lessons wit... Read more
Review:Doesn't really understand new work on biology (especially epigenetics) and neuroscience that demolishes both the materialist/determinist/reductionist program he hates, and his own skepticism about the efficacy of evolution. He's right, though, that some precursor of intentionality, or consciousness, or at least interiority, goes all the way back to the beginnings of the universe. Read more
Review:Elmore Leonard has created here, a book that says just what it needs to and no more. It is quirky and amusing, whilst giving the budding writer some really sound advice. You can read it in one sitting or take your time to soak up the esoteric knowledge contained within these definitive pages. A must for all people serious about the writing craft. Read more
Review:Exaustively researched, & excellently written! This book should be mandatory reading. It clearly lays out the real basis of America's Middle East policy; unswerving support for the state of Isreal; &, insistance in "Isreal's right to exist", i.e.: a Crusade to bring about the "second coming of Christ"! Review:Amanda presents physics from an autobiographical point of view that is not only entertaining, but also explores the deep underbelly of physics from an often philosophical point of view. Only one equation (actually and identity) but very clear portraits of modern physics and physicists! Read more
