Middle East
Review:This book is an amazing read. No matter your opinion, political leaning, or attitude toward the Iraq war, this book gives a great perspective, asking the difficult questions, and talking about the difficult realities. Really great to hear from a woman - removed from American military and politics - on the ground in Iraq. I would recommend this book to anyone. Read more
Review:Rambling through history, myth and superstition this author leads the reader on a journey worth taking. The language is evocative and superb. The anecdotes and stories are interesting with a great deal of humour thrown in. Read more
Review:Brad Taylor's " Enemy of Mine" makes a third time a charm. The writing, editing and all things come together to make a fine read. He is now getting up there wit Lee Child, Vince Flynn and Brad Thor.Ditto's on a great thriller. Pike Logan is great character. Read more
Review:As some of the previous readers have stated, this is a great read on counter terrorism. Those Palestinians who had a role in the Olympic murders are dealt with by a professional hit squad sent out from Israel. Review:This is a wonderfully written telling of a history that is absolutely essential to understanding our own time. The siege of Malta, the sea battle of LePonto and the history of Mediterranean slavery are all carefully detailed here. It's a story not many people know & it's riveting. Read more
Review:I was disappointed that the booked was billed as the best book on the Middle East when it was more of a travel bio in the 1980 timeframe. Good antidotes and some history but too outdated. For example Sadam in Irac is history not an understanding on current Middle East Read more
Review:Everyone who is interested in the root causes of the chaos and violence in the Middle East should read this book. Wright alternates a great story --the day by day unfolding of the Cape David Israeli-Egyptian peace conference convened by President Jimmy Carter -- with the history of Israel. Wright is a lucid writer who does meticulous research. You will have a new understanding of today's news if your read about those 13 days in September. Read more
Review:Real page turner that provides an insightful historical overview into the creation of ISIS. Makes you realize how a small minority of extremists have hi-jacked a religion to further their own off-base ideology. In many ways the things that are happening in American politics are playing right into their hands. Read more
Review:I was inspired by this important part of Jewish history that took place primarily in the late days of WWll. I was unaware of much of the activity involving these heros in there attempts to save so many concentration camp survivors while facilitating their return to Israel. Read more
Review:Although a true account, it reads like a Spy thriller! Can't put it down type read! Especially interesting in that, it was actually the origination of "Mossad"! I bought copies for two other people & they agreed with my assessment. Read more
