Review:Leave it to author Mark Lawrence to bring our heroes heartthrob down a few notches in a most hilarious way. This was a delightful series full of action, folklore and humor. In the Wheel of Osheim, our hero returns home only to discover trouble powered by magic will go through great lengths to find you. After a tedious battle with the Dead King that leaves his home in ruins, Prince Jalan rejoins Snorri and heads for the final showdown at Osheim. This book is a perfect summer read for teens, ... Review:China Mieville is my new favorite. His creatures are intriguing and horrifying and the sweeping architecture paints a cacophonous intersection of life and culture. I can't recommend this highly enough. It has the world of fantasy with the storyline and themes of science fiction. Read more
Review:A very different type of mystery which introduces the reader to an entirely new way of viewing the city as well as the city. Give yourself a couple of chapters to get acclimated and then hang on for the ride. Read more
Review:Although nobody knows why, the city-state of New Crobuzon has been at war with the Tesh for years; both sides use men and sorcery to gain an inch of land in a conflict that never ends. Within New Crobuzon, the militia keeps a tight control on the people, newspapers print all the party deems fit to print, workers have no right to appeal, and those deemed criminal by the state are killed or magically turned into part human, part something else to live as slaves until they die.

Review:Guy Gavriel Kay has once again taken this reader on a soulful journey. The very cadence of his words is evocative; I know this place and these finely drawn characters and am left with the gift of wonder at the end. I was carried away by a river of stars! Read more
Review:Following the disappointment of the "The Last Light Of The Sun" I am glad to say this one show GGK back to form. This book is fascinating, the characters believable and the story is gripping.
The only thing I didn't like was the poems as I didn't think they added anything but as I skipped over them - it didn't detract from the story.
Highly recommended. Read more
Review:The book is funny and carries the unique Pratchett charm. It is classic Discworld, but the characters and story are not as thrilling as some of the others in the series. I prefer Death, Rincewind, the wizards and other classic Ankh-Morpork characters to the witches. Discworld fans read this book! Starting on the series, or perhaps haven't read many of them? Skip this until you find a character group you really like. Read more
Review:This book brings three of Pratchett's best characters: the small ancient Lu Tze, Death, and Death's granddaughter Miss Susan. Unlike many Pratchett books, this one is a page turner. Highly recommended Read more
Review:Princess Charis lives in the beautiful land of Atlantis, where peace has reigned for years and (in her opinion) nothing exciting ever happens. Her boredom is quickly shattered, however, when the country erupts into civil war and a wild prophet arrives, claiming that the end of Atlantis and everything the Atlantians love is at hand.
Far away from lovely Atlantis lies the rough and uncivilized Isle of Britain, where the unlucky heir to one clan's throne, Elphin, stumbles upon a baby abando... Read more
Review:Mara is only seconds from being irrevocably sealed to a religious life when she learns of her father's and brother's death and that she is now ruling lady of the Acoma, a feudal house on a world based primarily on Korean custom and myth. With her family, most of the soldiers perished. Mara must gather her few resources and rebuild, while fighting a quiet war with her enemies. In her favor--her willingness to ignore custom and tap into unexpected resources. But will that be enough?
