Review:For years, friends told me I had to read this novel, that it was the epitome of "fantasy novel." Actually, I feel "The Lord of the Rings" earns that distinction, but this is still in the top of list!
Strong characters are what makes this story tick. Drizzt, the renegade dark elf, struggles to find a place in the world, protecting those who fear and despise him for his heritage. Even then, he finds some comfort in his few friends, the crusty dwarven cheiftain Bruenor and the opportunistic half... Read more
Review:I am of two minds on this book. On the one hand, Drizzt Do'Urden, my favorite character ever, is back; alive and well. His perils and trials are as potent as ever, and his scimitars as keen. With his companions by his side, all seems right with the world.
But deep in the mountains the orcs have formed an alliance with the frost giants, spurred on by the wicked minds of several drow, and disaster awaits for those who stumble upon them unknowingly.
As Drizzt and his friends fall deeper in... Read more
Review:Very Fine novel by one of the great American writers of 20th century. Wonderfully crafted wriiting which flows beautifully. One of Scott Firgerald's 2 major works the other being the Great Gatsby which I preferred. Read more
Review:I read this in expectation of the film based on the book/series. Good idea for a plot however as the protagonists are adolescents, the book only goes so far. Most definitely a YA title and will not make it into canon of great literature. Read more
Review:This is an excellent book for kids. If it were to be required reading (which it NEVER will), we would probably have a second American Revolution.
In school, kids are told a pack of lies about America in order to convince them to keep their heads bowed and do what their corporate masters tell them. Kids are slathered in nationalistic crap and primed to go off and die fighting in immoral and unnecessary wars of aggression.
Pull your kid of the lie machine and have him read this ins... Read more
Review:Great book in a great series. I really enjoyed this book as well as all the other books by bill o'reilly I have read. It is very interesting and a fast read that keeps your interest from start to finish. Read more
Review:As usual O'Reilly's books are full of interesting facts and personnel stories. Major part of the book surrounds the battle of the bulge and how it affected the defeat of the 3rd Reich. Full of archived photos that have brief descriptions. I wish that he would have gone a bit further describing how Berlin was divided with the Allies and Russians, east and west. The last part of the books goes on to describe what happens to the main players after the war ended. i.e., the generals and others. Read more
Review:This series is just disturbing, complex, enjoyable and i really cant put it down. Unwholly not as good as unwind but still a great story and i cant wait for the third which is rare for me with young adult books which r always so predictable. But not this one and most importantly the love story was written well most r over the top. U know i find male ya authors write better love stories such as (christopher paolini, rick riordan and this author) they r more believeable than female writers who ten... Read more
Review:I was looking forward to this after reading the others in the series, I was not disappointed. I felt like we got to know the characters better, the story evolved beautifully and I couldn't but it down! Read more
Review:Unwind is the book that I recommend more than any other. It's hard to sell it as a "good book" because the subject matter is too dark and twisted to explain. It's not a fun ride, it doesn't have a happy ending. But it is impossible to sear from your brain. UnDivided is a worthy finale.
I thought I was prepared for the final chapter. I didn't particularly care for the third book in the series, which I thought telegraphed the end-game too heavily, and didn't advance the plot much. I was wro... Read more
