The Hidden Village
The Hidden Village

Review:This was an okay book, but it would've been better with more description of what the huts looked like. I was glad there were pictures at the end. Also, it ended quite abruptly and didn't seem really true emotionally. I won't give it away. As I said, it was okay, but not real satisfying. Read more

The Long Way Home (The Homelanders)
The Long Way Home (The Homelanders)

Review:The book The Long Way Home by Andrew Klavan is a continuation of the first book, The Last Thing I Remember, in the Homelanders series. I particularly enjoyed this book because of the action mixed with mystery. The main character, Charlie West, being a fugitive accused of killing his best friend Alex, allows for constant action. In the first book, Charlie wakes up strapped to a chair, not remembering the past year. In this book, he is always either being chased by the police, or trying to fig... Read more

Review:From what I understand from other reviewers, this is a departure from Follett's usual fare. Since this is the only novel of his that I've read, I can't compare it to previous books of his. Follett takes quite a bit of time developing his characters and setting the scene for this story, so it really doesn't get going until about the halfway point. From then on, it's a fast paced and entertaining read. The setting is Scotland at Christmas. A deadly virus is stolen from a research lab. The pr... Read more

Scythe (Arc of a Scythe Book 1)

Review:I checked this book out of my public library to review for suggesting as a read to my middle school students. I did suggest this book as a "must read". The love of this book spread like wildfire. This book is very well written. In fact, it is a Printz Honor–winning book. This book has several plot twists that I never saw coming. They also surprised and thrilled my students. Schusterman does an excellent job with his character development. It is unique how the author exposes the characters ... Read more

The Testing
The Testing

Review:I have heard a lot on other blogs that people are saying this is another Hunger Games. While there are some similiarities to HG, the story line itself has a different twist. I have not been more excited or left reeling about a book in awhile and this one did that for me!

The book starts out with Cia's graduation day. This is the day that they announce which individual's, if any, will be chosen for The Testing. Cia would love to be chosen and follow in her father's footsteps. Her mother is... Read more

Book one in the YA Dystopian Scifi Epic (The Treemakers Trilogy

Review:Read on recommendation from a friend. Well written, full of action and believable characters. A bit too dark for my personal taste but if you are into dystopian type stories you'll likely love it. I wish there were a rating system for books that included a level of dark/horor/etc. Read more

Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.
Elisa is the chosen one.

But she is also the younger of two princesses, the one who has never done anything remarkable. She can't see how she ever will.

Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.

Review:First of all I'd like to add to my review that I bought this because it was written by the creator of Scott Pilgrim and I'm a big fan of that story. Although comparing the 2 stories would be ridiculous and unfair one can't avoid the fact that if you read one comic and you LOVED it... well you definetely are going to expect the same for any other book of that author... unless that's what I believe.

Anyways I did enjoyed it and I would buy it again if I had the chance to. This book has mor... Read more

Review:Okay. So.

Honestly?

I was never a fan of Manga.

And I keep wanting to prounounce it Mangma or Magma, but anyway...when my friend lent me this book one day, I just. Couldn't. Stop. Reading. It.

I was happy to know that there were more books in the series, but I wouldn't want to become too obsessed with the whole Manga issue.

After all, they're just animated characters. (;

My suggestion?

Read the whole series at a bookstore, so you won't have to was... Read more
