I Love Capitalism!: An American Story
I Love Capitalism!: An American Story

Review:It was an excellent book but it does, perhaps unintentionally, show what is wrong with Boards of Directors. Bob Nardelli was CEO of The Home Depot for 7 years and while sales doubled, the stock was essentially flat, while employee morale was low. What point is a BOD of they are not overseeing how the CEO is running the company. It should not having taken 7 years to realize they were off the track and get rid of a CEO.

It was a very interesting read and shows that with hard work and persev... Read more

Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World
Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland's History-Making Race Around the World

Review:Half way through the book so far. Filled with historical anecdotes about the period as well as some of the countries visited. Coming from the Pittsburgh, PA area, I found the references to the Western PA immigrant work ethic and strife poignant, especially when I learned of the plight of the coal stokers on the ocean-going ships. Their lives were misery and short with black lung, made worse when a ship was pushing for a record time crossing from the Far East to CA or across the Atlantic. The con... Read more

Bradley and the Partnership that Drove the Allied Conquest in Europe
Bradley and the Partnership that Drove the Allied Conquest in Europe

Review:For the reader seeking a more personal and human perspective of the role played by these three historic figures, Jordan's new book delivers a spell binding story. Their ambitions, emotions, fears, doubts and personal and profession loyalties are presented in a very readable and balanced account of this exceptional partnership that won the war in North Africa and Western Europe. The book's approach should particularly appeal to readers new to the history and details of World War II. Jordan pre... Read more

My Year in Space, A Lifetime of Discovery

Review:I've sent several copies to friends now...it opened my eyes to what life in space is actually like. I'd never thought about such things as working with mitt-sized gloves, for example. But for me, learning about the early part of his life and how ONE BOOK (The Right Stuff) gave him focus and a goal. Thank you fro writing this, sir! Read more

and My Other Experiments in Everyday Life - Abandon Self-Control
and My Other Experiments in Everyday Life - Abandon Self-Control

Review:This title appeared as a recommendation in an article in The Christian Science Monitor, so I assumed it might be important. But I haven't learned anything new. I recently read The Shelter of Each Other : Rebuilding Our Families by Dr. Mary Pipher (1996) which was much more influential and at least written by someone in the field of mental health. Read more

Life After Death
Life After Death

Review:A very nice book. Thank you Damien for sharing with all of us. Liked that he always had something to discuss, to write in diary, although being absolutely shut from the world. I will always question who the two guys he mentioned as being also inoccent. And it was horrible for Jason to comment on Damien's guilt. Read more

True Story of Ed Gein, the Original Psycho
True Story of Ed Gein, the Original Psycho

Review:I purchased this book because I wanted to know the Ed Gein story. And that is what I got; I found the book to be very informative. It of course covered the murders committed by Mr. Gein, but also gave a lot of information about his life including his mental and emotional status. Read more

Inspired by a True Native American Indian Story - Return of the Bones

Review:Book was very enjoyable. Had lots of twists and turns and at times was a bit hard to follow. The depictions of the villages and of the life in the past and now were amazing and I could actually see them. It was written very truthfully. I would recommend this to anyone who has a thirst for knowledge of the native american cultures and just to anyone who likes to read! Read more

The True Story of a Kidnapping - and My Search for the Real Me
The True Story of a Kidnapping - and My Search for the Real Me

Review:When I finished the book I had more questions than when I started it. Did he think he was going to find a great family, great families don't abandon children. Was finding the dysfunctional family a good excuse for his abandoning his wife? Read more
