Review:A well written book with facts and opinions explained in context of situation. This book made me re-think of a lot of ideas I earlier has about Gandhi. Though, I do not agree with many of his experiments, he does make one believe that his motive after every one of them was finding the truth of things. The universality of compassion towards all beings is infectious. Read more
Review:Winston Churchill is a giant of history. By coincidence he is also my personal favorite foreign author of non fiction. (I am an American.) His writing style is very florid and reads like fiction rather than non fiction. He uses many illusions and has an ironical sense of humor. He was awarded a Nobel Prize for literature.
This is a autobiography, composed in mid life, in 1930, but only about his life from 1874 to 1904. As such, the story does not include anything about either World W... Read more

Review:Rob Bell’s recently released book, What is the Bible?, is one of the most interesting books I have read in some time on the Bible for those who have looked back again at the Bible or who might actually be looking at it for the first time. Neither is odd in contemporary American culture. In that sense, he has updated the work of Marcus Borg. I have followed the career of Rob Bell since I heard some of his sermons from a Michigan Church where he was a pastor and from the NOOMA Series which to my m... Read more
Review:Great story and well written. Enjoyed the back and forth of time segments that helped tell the story in a more encompassing viewpoint. Being from a Navy family I can truly understand the pomposity of Naval Command being obstructive I’m allowing this officer to have his named finally cleared. And what a shame it had to be posthumously! The Admirals at the time of this event in the Pacific theatre should have all been courtmartlialed for their dereliction of duty-resulting in unbelievable sufferin... Read more
Review:I believe, that this book should be compulsory reading for all high school students. It is not only well written, but has some very, very positive thoughts and is an excellent example of what a person can do if he is willing. I loved the original, have not read the teen version.

Review:The Warrior Ethos takes us on a journey into ourselves, or rather a part of ourselves we often ignore or play down. The code of the Warrior that has been passed down through history has served those who have taken it up faithfully. Pressfield's use of historical figures allows the reader to better understand how this way of the warrior allowed some of the greatest names on Earth to accomplish the feats that made them legends.
