My World: A Companion to Goodnight Moon
My World: A Companion to Goodnight Moon

Review:Updated Review: When we first received this book, we weren't impressed. But over time, this book has become one of our daughter's favorites. For whatever reason, it captures her imagination. Margaret Wise Brown had a very interesting background in children's education and philosophy, so she was ahead of her time.

Original Review: This book is called a companion to Goodnight Moon, but it really isn't.
It's boring, disjointed, and doesn't have the iambic pentameter of Goodnight Moon.

Where's My Cow?
Where's My Cow?

Review:I enjoyed this book immensely; however, I am a huge fan of discworld. Like others, I was also a tad disappointed that the illustrations of characters varied greatly from that of Paul Kidby. Many authors aren't given the option of picking their illustrator(s) and I wonder if this was the case with this particular book?

I believe this book is geared more for parents who, like me, are discworld fans and plan to prep their children for reading the discworld series. The book functions primaril... Read more

One Crazy Summer
One Crazy Summer

Review:I didn't enjoy the book enough to finish it. The story seemed to drag on without really catching my interest. My 10 year old granddaughter ask if she could stop reading it because it was boring. I told her yes and we would find another book that would interest her more. Read more

Becoming Naomi León (Scholastic Gold)
Becoming Naomi León (Scholastic Gold)

Review:I read Becoming Naomi Leon. It's about a girl who lives with her grandmother and her brother Owen. Every time Naomi goes to school, some of the boys there make fun of her name. Naomi thinks she should switch her name even though she knows it's her grandmother's name.

Naomi's grandmother is also giving her the pep talk about how she's named after her grandmother. I think the two conflicts in this story is when kids were making fun of Naomi's name and when her grandmother was talking about ... Read more

Odd and the Frost Giants
Odd and the Frost Giants

Review:I stumbled upon this and thought it might be appropriate for my 10-year-old. As I read it, I was pleased to learn that not only was it a sweet story but it incorporated some of those Avengers characters that she loves and talked about them in a more traditional way (not modern, HD comic-book-hero action story). We both enjoyed it. It's always nice to find good books for kids in the Kindle version and that are inexpensive. Read more

Instructions
Instructions

Review:I wasn't sure what to expect from this book (except for the obvious).

It ended up being not so much a story in itself, but an introduction/summary of other, older stories. However, I think the title gives fair warning to this. It's 'Instructions' on what to do during your adventures, not the adventures themselves, which is actually quite a clever idea (leave it to Neil Gaiman to come up with something like that...if you hadn't already been able to tell, I'm a fan).

When reading wit... Read more

Night-Night, Forest Friends
Night-Night, Forest Friends

Review:I read this to my daughter every night right before bedtime. Although she's only eight months, she's already starting to look forward to it. The illustrations are more like an elegant painting on each page, the type clearly laid out across the images. The soft padded cover is sturdy but safe with rounded edges, and the thick pages are easy to turn and keep flat. The pages are glossed and easy to clean. The story is consistent and cute to read. I'm looking for more like this, hopefully i can buil... Read more

Raymie Nightingale
Raymie Nightingale

Review:I was super excited to read Kate DiCamillo's latest book, Raymie Nightingale, and when I finally got it from the library I read it right away. After reading, Raymie Nightingale, I can say that this book is probably my least favorite DiCamillo book. **Sadness**

Raymie Nightingale gets 3.5 out of 5 Stars in my book review. I feel this middle grade fiction book is best for 4th though 7th grade. It's a lovely coming of age story about unlikely friendships, and I think it is a valuable and ... Read more

Gregor the Underland Chronicles (5 Volume Set)

Review:A very imaginative book. A whole other world is build up in a very believable way. The characters are great, and quite complicated for a children's book. I'm an adult, but i really loved all the books. I sincerely recommend it. Read more
