Review:Cross Creek is a wonderful vignette look into early 20th Century life in "Old Florida". The book is different in style from Rawlings well known work, The Yearling. The Yearling tells a tender story of a boy coming of age during the depression era in Florida; Cross Creek is a sketch of the characters that live in this little wetland community of Florida. Review:Interesting biography of that day and age. Interesting information about inside information about the financial crises faced by a lot of supposed "well-to-do" families, and how important "image" was to them. I have a feeling that this book would appeal more to women and to men. The family tree included in the book is very helpful, too. Read more
Review:It started out good, the young years of Zelda and Scott were well written and informative. This quickly turned into a disappointment, dragging on and on after Zelda's illness worsened. I finally got so bored, I stopped reading the book, a first for me. If it were a paperback, I probably would have skipped around until I found something to hold my interest, not so easy with my Kindle. Read more
