Review:I thought this book would be more interesting, but it was nothing I haven't heard before. The author keeps repeating how "blunt" she is but I've seen/heard better. I think this book is advice on how to trap a man, not how to meet one and keep them. I felt that the author tried too hard to be this "author that keeps it real."
I think that her advice on being honest is great advice, because I believe it's easier to tell the truth and maybe hurt someone for a little bit, than to lie and get cau... Read more
Review:This is an excellent book that manages to treat a serious subject in a humouress way. Perhaps a little overwritten in parts and could be a bit shorter. Nevertheless an enjoyable read that kept my attention throughout Read more
Review:This book wasn't exactly up my alley; but regardless of that I feel the author did a fine job of writing a cinematic novel about Hollywood of the past through the cynical eyes behind the scenes manipulator of an aging movie star told in the language of a gossip column (including a bizarre, silly side story featuring Lillian Hellman).
Kids - this is quite different from all his previous novels. Read more
Review:Really enjoyed reading Little Failure. Gary has a dark sense of humor. It reminded me so much of my own immigrant household and the experience of growing up with people who wanted the best for their children but were not sure exactly what that entailed in America. Read more
Review:Chris Moore delivers again! As true with any of his books, get ready to laugh until you have Coke come out of your nose. Review:I really enjoyed reading this book. Unexpectedly well written for a guy known primarily for five minute video reviews of games. All of the wit, cynicism, and satire of said reviews are present; however, it is quite a bit less vulgar (for better or worse, depending on your taste). Read more
Review:This is anachronism done right by Neil Gaiman. The title gives one the jist of this graphic novel’s theme. It’s the Marvel Universe circa 1602. There’s a big cast of Marvel characters in this collection of eight comics. However, those who don’t follow comics might not recognize some of the characters because they are decidedly less comic-esque in this take. The characters mostly go by their given names rather than their superhero nom de guerre and not one of them wears spandex—and even capes ar... Read more
Review:A very good story with realistic poignant observations about the people being"served" by mission trips. A bit more autobiographical than I expected but I still enjoyed the book as a whole. Looking forward to more books by Jamie. Read more
Review:I liked this book, but it was definitely creepy!!! I found myself becoming unsettled fairly early on, and it only got worse.as the book progressed. Old-style writing, naturally, but still easy enough to get into to give you some uneasy dreams if you read it at night. Read more
